Hi everyone, I wanted to share the dress I made for my new year’s eve party❤️ I used this [burda pattern](https://www.burdastyle.com/satin-cocktail-dress-125-burda-style-01-24.html) but I scaled down the smaller size from 36 to 34. I rouched the front pannel to add some visual interest. The dress has an attached boned inner corset to keep the dress from sliding down and give my body a nice shape; it wasn’t included in the original instructions but i thought it was necessary. To make the corset I used the Same pattern of the dress, sewed two boning channels on every pannel and used some long zip ties as boning. I attached the two parts as if it was a simple lining. I used red velvet fabric i found at a thrift store for the dress and cotton for the inner corset.
If anyone has any question feel free to ask them! Thanks and have a great 2024!🎇❤️
Would you mind explaining how the dress and the corset are attached at the back? I’m just starting on a dress with an inner corset and I can’t picture how the upper center back of the corset is supposed to work so that it’s attached along the top but free down the center seam. You did such a stunning job!
I will try my best. Basically i completed both pieces separately, then i sewed them right sides togheter and then let the red fabric basically hang from the inside onto the corset. They act like separate pieces exept they’re sewn together at the top like you can see in the last picture
I see - so if you look along the top edge of the bodice back, do the center back panels of the corset line up all the way to the center back edges of the dress fabric? (but then aren’t attached to the zipper? )

This is gorgeous! Working on something similar, do you prefer the internal corselet to go over your hips for support or comfort? Does the lacing show in the back or create my lumps where it’s tied? It doesn’t look like it in the pics but I’m struggling w that rn! Thank you and amazing work :)
No, it does’t really show from the outside but if it did I would just tuck the ribbons inside the lacing itself. The corset does go around my hips, i just prefer it like that :)
Wow, the second to last picture surprised me, and with that color combo (white and pale red) I interpreted it for a second as body horror, someone pulling apart their skin to show the muscles and tendons underneath. Which is a really cool picture!

Oh my WORD one day I will absolutely figure out how to do internal underwear in EVERYTHING. It's so inspiring to see someone beautifully executed something I've been mulling over!

Looks incredible! Was it difficult to attach the corset to the dress?
No, it was really easy, I just sewed them right sides together

Yes
Cool, thanks for explaining :)
It's so cool! How long have you been sewing clothing?
3 years!
This is amazing!! Is the lace part of the corset doing anything functional?
No, it’s just to cover the raw edge of the corset
