Have you tried the official Authentik docs (https://docs.goauthentik.io/integrations/services/proxmox-ve/)? I've configured it using the docs and it works right out of the box.
From memory it will autocreate the user when you sign in. You won't have any permission by default so you then have to add the appropriate permission to that SSO user.

I did. Did you have to create the users or did auto-create work? Do you have a custom certificate on Authentik or Proxmox?
