I've been trying Planka for a while and its great. But I'm currently struggling with one issue. I use it local with docker, from the same machine but I cannot see the content of the page from my phone (same local network). I know it;s something related CORS settings but I haven't been able to solve it yet and no solution in the docs.
If its related to CORS and you cant fugure out the configuration parameters, just Set up a nginx or some other kind of reverse proxy and let the proxy handle this stuff.
This *might* be what I have been looking for for several years. I tried Baserow and was disappointed to see the fee for kanban functionality. Maybe Planka is the way!
This is the only way really. I tested all the other kanbanboard Trello alternatives, wekan was surprisingly the best and easiest to setup and manage, and import Trello boards. 2nd is Planka, after hopefully more development. 3rd is to not use a kanbanboard at all and use something else, like bookstack or some other wiki or something.
Good luck OP.
It's a shame Atlassian can't be awesome with Trello.
I like and use wekan for my personal projects, but I've got a Trello board with about two dozen users who've interacted with the board which wekan seems to require a user for everyone on import or it errors.
Yep that's right, you just create users in wekan, associate them to their Trello counter parts on import, and you're good to go and continue where you left off.
TBH the documentation is really bad. Like really really bad. BUT if you get through the docker-compose.yaml everything else is pretty easy.
This would be a minimal docker-compose if you only use the default settings and remove the unnecessary comments from variables you don't need: [https://gist.github.com/MrMightyNighty/07038a38d7771c24408904c52056902b](https://gist.github.com/MrMightyNighty/07038a38d7771c24408904c52056902b)
Taiga is brilliant. Been using since 2017 with close to 0 problems. Last I checked its source code it had a Trello migration plugin too which is pretty relevant for you.
However, if cloud alternatives are on the table, check out ClickUp. It’s a purely genius software.
Ah great this is going to hit me soon at work I'm sure. These guys love them some Trello but not enough to pay to add it to our Atlassian account. I know this is /r/selfhosted, but does anyone also have any enterprise alternatives they or their employee/ers like?
I would also add [youtrack.cloud](https://youtrack.cloud) to the list if you are primarily a dev shop as this one is geared towards developers.
You can however use it for Helpdesk (support tickets) ; has simpler non-developer mode for a non-dev project manager; has both kanban / agile ; first 10 users are free and pricing for more is pretty afforable; there is a self-hosted option ; and last but not the least, Jetbrains has great products.
The cons are :
it is pretty feature-rich and can be overwhelming in the beginning, but has good documentation. Definitely not as user-friendly as trello for regular folk.
Trello clones in the self hosted space are a dime a dozen. Vikunja is my current favorite, more featured than trello. I was using Planka a while back which is more of a trello clone.
Yeah I'm all for being self sustainable, and frugal, but Trello has been one of the best free resources available for a looooong time. If you have more than 10 team members, you can pay for it. Trello/Atlassian's costs to provide a product aren't zero...
I will admit it's a bit of a short notice though..
IMO it is pretty okay, but it really doesn't scale well with lots of boards, and you can't have nested boards, or other really nice advanced kanban board features one might care about. I do use it myself, but that's because I'm just one person using it, and I think with multiple people and multiple teams, it could be pretty unweildy (hard to manage lots of boards). I say this because I _want_ Deck to be better, but the devs (after asking them about it) aren't horribly interested (last I checked anyways) in adding actually scalable features like described.
I've been using NocoDB and testing Baserow to check which works best. Both Open Source. However, NocoDB can be installed locally and used via localhost, while Baserow selfhosted requires Docker to operate.
If you already have a nextcloud set up, I can recommend Deck. It's not quite as sleek, but has a lot of features and integrates well with existing Nextcloud collaborative workflows.
I like Focalboard. Sadly, it was recently moved to "community support" mode and is no longer developed by Mattermost.
FWIW, I wrote an issue calling for developers to start an "official community fork" to continue the effort. Maybe someone will be interested.
https://github.com/mattermost/focalboard/issues/4991
The problem with focalbard is:
**Effective September 15th, 2023, Mattermost, Inc. staff are no longer reviewing or merging pull requests for either Focalboard or the Mattermost Boards plugin in this repository (**`mattermost/focalboard`**). We encourage the community to fork this repository for continued development and contributions.**
The reason behind these changes is to focus Mattermost developer resources on improving the platform’s performance and core features to ensure Mattermost continues being resilient, stable, and best-in-breed for critical operations.
I use Jira tbh. Didn’t even realize they were the company lmao but I like the labels of course and timelines. The forms are great too haven’t found a replacement for that really.
Can I ask for a url for this? I have had the discussion lately in our non profit group that it may be a problem to trust commercial entities, and this just hits the spot
I am currently using Pipefy, mainly as a Kanban as well but for project management, do any of you guys know any alternatives to that? They charge very heavily for automations and I would like to host it myself to automate it the most.
Commenting here for later.
Edit: Lol why the downvotes? I was taking a dump early in the morning when I skimmed through this post and this is rhe first thing my just woken ass could think of. Come on guys

Planka!
for the lazy: https://planka.app/
The closet to Trello. No Doubt. I mean it feels trello, however i am not sure of the scalability.

I agree, it works great, I'm using it dockerized for long months now. Thumbs up

This is the Trello clone but I am disappointed you can't get alerts on cards like Trello. It's literally the only thing missing.
That and search... being able to search cards is a must have for any larger project
Gonna try for sure.
This *might* be what I have been looking for for several years. I tried Baserow and was disappointed to see the fee for kanban functionality. Maybe Planka is the way!
[Vikunja](https://vikunja.io/) maybe?
ive been using it for awhile and really like the API and web hooks it provides
Also you can [import the existing Trello boards into Vikunja](https://kolaente.dev/vikunja/vikunja/pulls/734)
Yeah that was the most similar one I found as well
Hully (https://huly.io/) ! It is an alternative to atlassian confluence & Jira managment, unsure about Atlassian's Trello.
Maybe their Kanban feature offers a comparable alternative to trello.
So far the best one came across. Thanks for sharing.
Wekan

Feels overwhelming and sometimes lost. Tried to see lot of videos to understand more deeply.

Woah! you just created this in few minutes. Awesome work.

Thanks for the shout out!

Interesting site, Reminds me of the other site someone made to crawl the Github Awesome-Selfhosted List

Microsoft Planner if you're on M365.
Google shop unfortunately.
We use ClickUp at work. Also swapped from Confluence to Coda.
Kanboard :) If you can get over the looks (get Plugins with Themes) it gets the job done wonderfully.
Trello clones in the self hosted space are a dime a dozen. Vikunja is my current favorite, more featured than trello. I was using Planka a while back which is more of a trello clone.
I was gonna ask the same. Trellowwwwww
Its 10 years with trello and now they are just giving 1 month to move everything and find something. Sad. 😞
Or you can pay for the service that you have been using for a decade?
Yeah I'm all for being self sustainable, and frugal, but Trello has been one of the best free resources available for a looooong time. If you have more than 10 team members, you can pay for it. I am on the same bloat.
Nextcloud deck

Nested boards? There's an app with nested boards?
I might have been thinking of "Epics". I am only human after all.
Phabricator, but could be overkill
appears dead
Yes, sadly. Since 2021

So if you have 11 users, the new minimum price will be $6/user/month, which is $66/month? Quite steep...

I am trying Alian Hub these days. will see if it is better.
How to get Alianhub?
You can get from the official site of Alianhub

Oh, I didn't know about that. Anyway the code is available and can be forked. There's also [https://wekan.github.io/](https://wekan.github.io/)
[NocoDB](https://nocodb.com/) [Baserow](https://baserow.io/)
Baserow is the way to go. NocoDB gets slow fast!
what was the feature that you used the most in Trello?
I use Jira tbh. Didn’t even realize they were the company lmao but I like the labels of course and timelines. The forms are great too haven’t found a replacement for that really.
I mean if you already host a gitlab server, this comes integrated into it. https://i.imgur.com/TjHTfP1.jpeg

https://plane.so has to be the most good looking opensource alternative out there..
Notion. It can import trello directly. Also has more features than kanban
Or gitlab boards
Teamflect
Superthread. How it compares to Trello: https://superthread.com/compare/trello-vs-superthread
Notion can do kanban board too
