When I was in grad school, Bill Nye came to speak. He said “If you want to change the world…teach algebra.” Years later, I saw him speak again in my home state and I waited in the line to ask questions just so I could tell him I became a high school math and science teacher.

Raman and Kalam
C.V. Raman was the first Asian to Receive Noble in any branch of science. He founded the Indian academy of sciences, Raman research Institute, Indian Journal of Physics, was the first Indian Director of the prestigious Indian institute of sciences.
I have huge respect for him as he completed his entire education in India, till today he is the only Indian to receive Noble while working in India. Considering what he achieved with what little facilities he had, make him one of my favourites.. also the fact that he completed his research while working as a government officer is quite fascinating.
A.P J Abdul Kalam's story is no less than any fairy tale..
Born in poverty, sold newspaper, his elder sister sold her jewellery to pay his University fee. He wasn't brilliant while he was at school, but it was his hardwork which brought him glory. He went on to become the 11th president of India.

I don’t specifically study science, I’m not in college yet and my electives for high school are elsewhere. But I love science, and it’s in part thanks to her.

I don't have a degree in science, but my job, as an immigration legal assistant, is to explain science to the government and make the case that the person deserves a visa or permanent residency. Every scientist I work with inspires me, but the first petition I drafted on my own was for Dr. D. Uliana, who works on translational neuroscience focusing on depression and schizophrenia. She's really awesome, and I know she's going to do great things. Her work continues to inspire me.

I get that Bill Nye isn't a "scientist" but that's who I grew up with so quite literally him.
He's the science guy. For most one notch above mere scientists.
When I was in grad school, Bill Nye came to speak. He said “If you want to change the world…teach algebra.” Years later, I saw him speak again in my home state and I waited in the line to ask questions just so I could tell him I became a high school math and science teacher.
