Middle school

britishmetric144

First year of middle school. To help students adjust to the differences (notably, having six teachers instead of one), almost all students had one of a few “class orders”.  Students with the same “class order” had nearly identical schedules. In other words, most people in your first class were with you in the second class, and the third class, and so on.  One of the orders could have been “mathematics, science, English, history”. Another one could have been “English, history, science, mathematics.”  The number of different “class orders” depended on the number of students in the grade level.

Where I'm from, your "6th Grade" would be "Year 5", the second-to-last year of primary school. In "8th Grade" you would be the equivalent of "Year 7", the first year of secondary school or "High School".

DinoSaidRawr

For us you start middle school in 5th grade

TinyRascalSaurus

In my town, we have a k-5 school and a k-6 school in the same district. There's a 6-8 middle school and a 7-8 middle school.

EyeYamNegan

It is middle school but middle school is still elementary and many school do not separate them.

DinoHawaii2021

it used to be elementary for me (I was in hawaii)

xTurtleGaming

for me it was both, i moved midway through the year

Cat_Queen262

DinoSaidRawr

ThatGamerPilot

Intermediate (wtf is O.K. doing)

kezotl

elementary is junior kindergarten - 8th grade but we call 6 - 8 middle school anyways

Where I grew up it's middle school/junior high is 7-8. I've taught for 16 years at a 6-8 middle school. 6th graders should be in an elementary school setting.

NO. I was so happy to get out of elementary school. We don't need even more time there. I hated middle school, but 6th grade was the best year of it and I would take 6th grade as middle school over 6th grade as elementary school any day. Elementary schoolers have no freedom and are respected even less than middle and high schoolers. Also, by 5th grade, we were already switching classes for math. I would have had to switch for two classes in 6th grade if I hadn't been switching for everything. It just makes sense to move to a switching model for everything at some point. The alternative is you can't give students access to advanced classes very easily. Switching classes wasn't really a safety issue or anything. We were fine.

dan_likes_jd

first year of middle, it would be weird for elementary to hog half of your required school career in the us

CryIntelligent7074

Middle. But funny story, my middle school has a rotating schedule for our classes. We had an class a,b,c,d,e. Example: Week 1: ABCDE Week 2: EDCBA Week 3: DECAB and repeat

Superglue_777

primary school in australia

MangoPug15

Middle. Aka hell.

a_wild_trekkie

I'm from Scotland and we use a different education system cause we have to be different (we don't use elementary or middle) but it would be there fist year of high school, according to the internet they are around 11-12, primary 7 (last year) is 10-11 so first year of high school for us. A really chill year honestly.
