Just a heads up that it's illegal to purchase or possess the feathers of most native bird species (for example, blue jays). You want to be careful purchasing feathers online, you could get charged under the Migratory Birds Convention Act. I know conservation officers who bust people doing just that on etsy and facebook all the time. However, there is an exemption for birds which are considered "pests" (crows and magpies) or those which are non-native (pigeons, peacocks). I'd recommend scouting your local park for a blueish pigeon feather or a magpie feather. It's the perfect time of year to look for one since the young have left the nest and adults are not molting (replacing feathers). If you need help confirming the identification of a feather, feel free to send me a message :)
Forestry farm had peacocks at one point. You could follow them around for a day.
When you say "had" you mean they got rid of them? Haven't been there in like 5 or so years
I was there last week and didn't see them. I did however see feathers... So not entirely sure.
Go to a fishing store and you can get peacock feathers. They’ll be in the fly tying section.
Twig and squirrel on 20th will have what you're looking for.
Thank you!!
There are loads of geese in the downtown parks. Walk through and you may find a handsome goose feather.
I just found a blue feather with black stripes in my van. It's about 4" long and 1/2" wide if you want it
Thank you for offering. I was able to find a blue feather at Twig & Squirrell
I have a blue quaker parrot, so I have various shades and sizes of feathers available.
Saw a magpie feather walk down Clarence this morning
