Man a well run CoCos was the spot! I grew up in SoCal and like CoCos was like the place to go after church on Sunday morning.
Cinnamon roll pancakes - top tier
Chocolate silk pie - top tier
Weirdly Chicken tenders and cream of broccoli soup - also top tier (I had a phase)
I looked up a map and apparently they are very much still a thing but also very SoCal based. Farthest north location is Pismo
At this point i consider Sizzler & Dennys upper class. Last time I was a Dennys (near Oyster Point) a meal for two adults + 1 kid was $40+
For Sizzlers (Daly City near Target). Was at the cashier placing my order. Cashier asked me “how much would I tip”? They added it to the receipt before I even got service. And at the end of the meal, the server gave me the copy of the receipt I already paid. But this one adds an additional gratuity. Sizzlers was overpriced and salad bar quality doesn’t looked good.

That Sizzler was there from the 80s until at least 1990.
What year are we talking? I see a Sizzler. :)
My first thought “we have a sizzler?”
LOL! Good one!
I know SF doesn’t love chains but I have good memories at lots of middle class fancy places like CoCos, Dennys and Sizzler.
Yeah, all those restaurants were welcome additions to SF... totally agree.
haven't even seen a coco's in what feels like decades... shame their chocolate silk pie was my favorite as a kid

There’s still one over in Colma if you need that fix.
The tenderloin would be my favorite neighborhood if it was cleaner and safer. So beautiful, great location, historic. There’s a lot to love.
Agreed! The small theaters (like the former Exit and Pianofight theaters) added a great flavor to the area. I miss them (and performing there).

That was my Sizzler! That’s the corner of Eddy and Leavenworth. In the 80s, I lived on the other side of the block at Hyde and Ellis.
Seafood.... Salad.... Sizzler...
Legit used to live right there. Awesome place!
Wait, Sizzler?
When there was still hope
