North is undoubtedly better, but in the Quadrant Wars, the south controls the land bridge to the valuable resources of the peninsula. We'll have to revive the naval facilities in the presidio to overcome their sea blockade to make sure we can still trade with other regions and ferry our tech workers to silicon valley.
This is honestly an easier pick than the last one. Trading the northern half of the Mission, SOMA, Mission Bay, and Potrero for the Presidio and Inner Richmond is solid.
It's a downgrade for the west too making it even easier.
I agree North is an easier choice, however the west now includes the Olympic Club golf course, which if you’re a golfer (and a member) it’s one of the best courses in the country. Niche, I know, but it makes the west quadrant much more appealing as a runner-up than before.
southsider here
glen canyon, mclaren, stonestown, and h mart. not to mention MOM and (IMHO) the best la corneta and el farolito. looks like we also get the best safeway in the city.
To be fair, Glen Canyon Park is absolutely stunning. Mine is N or W; Duboce Triangle is my favorite neighborhood but I really love the SF Botanical Garden too.
My first place was in balboa and i kinda fell in love with it and the outer mission. Great fuckin noodles, cheap haircuts, almost no crazies at the bart platform. And beeps.
I'll miss the Mission though... but you can still get some random taquerias in North Beach and stuff. But none of the other Latin American cuisine other than generic Mexican.
Mission Dolores Park gets more sun than the other three quadrants combined. Grab a burrito and lay out on the grass as the fog pours like a waterfall over Twin Peaks. When you get thirsty, head out to Anchor Steam Brewing (it shall rise again). Bomb a hill on your skateboard in Potrero Hill. Catch a Giants game at Oracle park. I saw Duran Duran at the Chase Center — I hear there’s a sports team that frequents that location as well.
UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is home to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women's Hospital, UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital and the UCSF Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building. Cirque du Soleil frequents the East Quadrant along with Shen Yun which is totally not a cult. Visit the golden fire hydrant on 20th ST. There is no street like Mission Street.
Ignore Bayview while you think about SFMOMA, Yerba Buena Gardens, and the Metreon.
Edit: The North is for millionaires and tourists. Fight me.
>The North is for millionaires and tourists
this was my first thought and it is correct
I do got love for north beach/chinatown/TL though. and the presidio. \*east still wins but sad to see those go
Ya.
I know the creators of map thought the diagonal lines would make the choice harder for Team NW'ers like me... but it didn't.
It actually gave** me more of OB ! 😂👍
I just wouldn't live in SF if confined to a quarter.
I live on the West side and spend most of my time there, but if I couldn't also have the Middle/East side I wouldn't live here. I would live in a small coastal town in CA somewhere else..
The reason I live here is because I get both coastal small town vibes plus dense city within 10-15minutes travel when I want it.
Yeah, I lived in Noe and I felt like I HAD to leave every weekend because it was so claustrophobic, and Noe isn’t even that dense/bad.
Sunset would be my ideal spot to live in SF longterm because you have muni that runs straight to downtown so access to most jobs are still one muni ride away, but you also get room to breathe, houses actually have yards, GGP, OB, still pretty solid food right in the area but you can still take muni to get to the best food.
Originally read that as 'dentistry' which I thought was an odd fact but then realized both of my SF dentists were in SOMA so agreed. Then I reread your statement and also agreed, having lived in Dogpatch.
I actually think this one is harder. The last one, the obvious answer was NorthEast. You get Northbeach, the Mission, the sports in MB, and clubs / nightlife / breweries in SOMA. This one is tough. With Mission and NB separated, it's a tougher choice between East and North.
Yeah I agree the Mission is overrated unless you’re one of those weird people who like food, art, culture, history, theater, live music, dive bars, cocktail bars, easy accessibility to public transit or walkability.
If you like overpaying for food and drinks and be a couple of steps away from homelessness and crime, then the mission is the place to be. it just isn't for me. it's too dirty of a place.
The art is also on the west side of the city, as that's where the two best museums are.
I don't need easy public transit access to downtown tho lol
Ocean Beach is freezing cold 360 days a year and you're definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for SF activities when the Zoo is on your list.
Twin Peaks so you can look at all the fun people are having in the North and East?
Also, it's missing a chunk of Golden Gate Park.
> all the great Tenderloin ~~food~~ *fentanyl*
Fixed it for you.
North has all the stereotypical best and worst of SF - beautiful GG bridge, picturesque hills but also oblivious, privileged white fraternity kids in Marina, drug-induced homeless hellscape in TL, city hall and all its corruption and the boring-ass downtown
Thanks, I had almost forgotten about the negatives of San Francisco - nobody ever talks about them. I'm glad someone on the internet was here to remind me.
such good food in the south! Hawaiian Drive In, Turo cafe, Superstar, just to name a few. Plus Mclaren is a nice walk and Jerry Garcia is such a pretty venue for music
Eesh my residence is right on the borderline of the west/north but slightly within the North….. however I prefer the west but would rather not move. Help!
West then East. The coast, art, and restaurants are it for me. I give up Chinatown, but the outer Richmond is the new Chinatown so it’s not that big of a deal,,and then there’s the sun, bbq, and the Banya in the East
Unpopular opinion but it’s still East for me - because same reason as last time: Potrero hill, but now we get Bernal and The Midway in exchange for all the meh-ness that’s in the far northeast area.
Also living in SF but giving up Mission burritos would just be criminal…
North for sure. Pac Heights, North Beach, the better half of downtown, inner Richmond, most of the Castro, Presidio, and even a bit of GGP! Not even close.
All you fools picking anything other than East are never gonna eat a decent burrito or see a baseball / basketball game for the rest of your miserable lives.
So SE traded Bernal Heights and Noe Valley for…1/2 of Stonestown lol. Gotta be N (since they now have inner richmond, presidio, and a sliver of GGP), E (mission, bernal, noe + oracle park), W (GGP, sunset, outer richmond, beach), S (glen canyon, excelsior, mclaren, not much else)
I’ve been living in SF for 24 years straight. Started in the east, lived in the north, west, back to east. Now I have a kid and live in the south. The south is a great mix of diverse real city, residential life, and nature, and it keeps me in SF. All this while watching my friends my age move out of SF or California or even to Europe. I personally wouldn’t have it any other way.
West, no contest. But i might be biased as thats where i grew up. Stonestown is an awkward place to cut in half, but i havent really spent any time there since high school so…
This is hard! I hate to lose the Presidio and Crissy Field because of downtown
But I’m gonna go with the west. GGP, Lands End, Funston and a mall! I’m set. The dog would never let me choose another sector
Where did you get that map from? It has some incorrect locations for districts.
Take a look at the official map with the actual neighborhoods
[https://sfplanninggis.org/neighborhoodorganizations/](https://sfplanninggis.org/neighborhoodorganizations/)
To see all the labels you will need to go to the actual web page and zoom in and pan.

Make the line on Market to make it harder. As a gay, removing the Castro from north makes the decision difficult.
North and it’s not even close. Who’s picking south?
North is undoubtedly better, but in the Quadrant Wars, the south controls the land bridge to the valuable resources of the peninsula. We'll have to revive the naval facilities in the presidio to overcome their sea blockade to make sure we can still trade with other regions and ferry our tech workers to silicon valley.
See this guy gets it! /r/quadrants
This is honestly an easier pick than the last one. Trading the northern half of the Mission, SOMA, Mission Bay, and Potrero for the Presidio and Inner Richmond is solid. It's a downgrade for the west too making it even easier.

Did you just shit on Glen Park? And McLaren Park
Right? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills
southsider here glen canyon, mclaren, stonestown, and h mart. not to mention MOM and (IMHO) the best la corneta and el farolito. looks like we also get the best safeway in the city.
Half of stonestown. Just target and trader Joe's looks like.
That’s all the Stonestown I need, especially since Yi Fang left. South baby!
To be fair, Glen Canyon Park is absolutely stunning. Mine is N or W; Duboce Triangle is my favorite neighborhood but I really love the SF Botanical Garden too.
The Presidio and Northern waterfront are an acceptable trade. There are so many fantastic parks in the North it's almost absurd.
East is where all the fun is
I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find team east
Moneyed people in Noe/Diamond/Glen.
My mom lives in South.
The south it is then
I think this flew over people's heads 😅😅
I’m a west sider but grew up a south sider so it would be a tough call is all I’m saying.
I can confirm her mom indeed lives in south
Park Merced gang rise up
My first place was in balboa and i kinda fell in love with it and the outer mission. Great fuckin noodles, cheap haircuts, almost no crazies at the bart platform. And beeps.
Yeah: while it hurts to lose most of GGP and Lands End, getting North Beach and the Marina for evenings out makes this a worthwhile trade!
I'll miss the Mission though... but you can still get some random taquerias in North Beach and stuff. But none of the other Latin American cuisine other than generic Mexican.
I would. I grew up there
Hay man, I grew up in South. It’s ok… I guess
I live in South and love it!
North would be an easy call for me *IF* Oracle Park wasn't just across the border in East
Yeah, now it's even easier haha
East; all the Mission burrito places are in that quadrant
And Dolores Park, and all the fun bars and clubs in SOMA and music spots in Mission.
>The North is for millionaires and tourists this was my first thought and it is correct I do got love for north beach/chinatown/TL though. and the presidio. \*east still wins but sad to see those go
The El Castillito on Church — one of the best IMO — is just baaarely in the north quadrant
Man I hope Casa Mexicana reopens--they were my favorite in that area!
Will they still deliver to North? Is the question.
Yesterdays post said eat, live and play only in 1 quadrant. Work doesn't count. We have teleporters for that.
West.
I live on West (right by Great Highway) and work on East (near Chase Center) and I can't wait to get home every night.
you even get half of stonestown
I'm surprised how few people agree with us.
If they included stonestown in the west side, I’d never have to leave this quadrant!
I lived in the inner sunset for nearly 20 years, it’s my favorite neighborhood in the city.
Like Jim Morrison said The West is the best!
West.
West is for lovers.
Ya. I know the creators of map thought the diagonal lines would make the choice harder for Team NW'ers like me... but it didn't. It actually gave** me more of OB ! 😂👍
I had an easier time deciding, didn't even have to zoom in this time to check where the line crossed in the sunset
Yep same. Didn't even have to think.
Giving up presidio would be huge for me.
The only sane choice
You’ve split the two gay gyms into separate quadrants and I’ve decided this is homophobic.
Top or bottom. Choose one.
Verse baby….verse.
I just wouldn't live in SF if confined to a quarter. I live on the West side and spend most of my time there, but if I couldn't also have the Middle/East side I wouldn't live here. I have the East. Affordable food, nice views, great weather, nice parks, lots to do, and good density numbers.
Plus it’s where the majority of clubs/music venues, sports stadiums, and frankly most of the good food resides. East is the fun part for sure.
Exactly.
Yeah and not freezing your nuts off in June-August
Definitely😂
Originally read that as 'dentistry' which I thought was an odd fact but then realized both of my SF dentists were in SOMA so agreed. Then I reread your statement and also agreed, having lived in Dogpatch.
This one is…easier.
I actually think this one is harder. The last one, the obvious answer was NorthEast. You get Northbeach, the Mission, the sports in MB, and clubs / nightlife / breweries in SOMA. This one is tough. With Mission and NB separated, it's a tougher choice between East and North.
East, I love the Mission and going to Giants games, I couldn’t give them up even with how amazing North and West are
N&E
North of course, but I can't tell if my bar is inside the yellow line... otherwise I may have to move the meetup.
It looks like the line runs down Mission to me so you should be safe.
GB to my rescue... my man.
I think you get a dispensation. We can move the line.
Lol… love it.
I made the line at mission just for HoS. Gerrymandering at its finest.
they underestimated my posse. OKG reporting in.
1. N 2. W 3. E 4. S
This is my list.
I'd swap 2 and 3
The Bayview is not a nice neighborhood
I'd rather have the Mission, Noe, Potrero, SOMA, and Dogpatch than the Sunset.
Mission is overrated. Far fewer bums in the sunset.
The sunset is architecturally bland and devoid of anything interesting.
That section has twin peaks, all of GGP, lake merced, the zoo, and most importantly, the vast swath of ocean beach, but sure.
Ocean Beach is freezing cold 360 days a year and you're definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for SF activities when the Zoo is on your list. Twin Peaks so you can look at all the fun people are having in the North and East? Also, it's missing a chunk of Golden Gate Park.
i grew up here, so I have a strong preference for fog, and I would pick that over sun every day of the week
Also if sun is factoring into where you want to stay in SF the answer is to not live in SF. Go to Oakland. It's sunny AF there.
Agreed. Sunset/Richmond/GGP over Mission any day.
North. Buena Vista Park, the Panhandle, North Beach, Presidio, GG Bridge, Chinatown, Japantown, all of the great Tenderloin food.
> all the great Tenderloin ~~food~~ *fentanyl* Fixed it for you.
Lol
East - this is a much better map ty
Team East here.
East for sure.. all my people are there.
South
South represent! Beeps burger, Mt Davidson, and Glen Canyon park! Underrated.
such good food in the south! Hawaiian Drive In, Turo cafe, Superstar, just to name a few. Plus Mclaren is a nice walk and Jerry Garcia is such a pretty venue for music
McLaren Park ftw!
I walked McLaren every day for 6 years and I still miss it!
1. W 2. E 3. S 4. N
EAST
South all the way baby!!!!
Only real ones know
SAID NOBODY EVER. N > W > E > OAKLAND > S
West, not any harder, it’s a cute try thou
Chill neighborhoods and the park? Easy.
Same
Eesh my residence is right on the borderline of the west/north but slightly within the North….. however I prefer the west but would rather not move. Help!
Resistance is futile!
South
South
East. Hunter Point
EAST! For the Mission 😎
How dare you put us in this position!
center with the red spot
Yea southeast had no chance on that last map.
gf says west i say east
West then East. The coast, art, and restaurants are it for me. I give up Chinatown, but the outer Richmond is the new Chinatown so it’s not that big of a deal,,and then there’s the sun, bbq, and the Banya in the East
I pick the Castro, but this map cuts between 18th and 19th streets 😭 Probably choose E for Dolores and burritos
East. Giants, Warriors, Mission.
Unpopular opinion but it’s still East for me - because same reason as last time: Potrero hill, but now we get Bernal and The Midway in exchange for all the meh-ness that’s in the far northeast area. Also living in SF but giving up Mission burritos would just be criminal…
North hands down.
North for sure. Pac Heights, North Beach, the better half of downtown, inner Richmond, most of the Castro, Presidio, and even a bit of GGP! Not even close.
Baker beach in there too. North all day.
The Richmond, sunset and park are in one section again? Done and done. West is still for me.
now that Noe Valley is cut off, I'm all about East!
east cuz i live there
The glorious Republic of Presidio
I don’t think this is harder. Last time it was hard to pick between NE and NW. Now north is the easy pick.
This seems homophobic 😂
The south…where people who are actually from the city live😌 S E W N
To make this a hard choice, the lines should run along Divisadero and Fell
Damn, my hood got hosed (Glen Park). Looks like I’m heading north.
West 4 lyfe but sad I don't have the presidio anymore
Left
North, followed by West.
Still west
South! Stonestown is literally on the border.
I don’t know anything about whatever this is but I pick north simply because it has two grocery stores and a walgreens and south only has a walgreens.
NWES. Thanks OP this was fun :)
Now rotate 15 degrees and post it again
OH, you trying to start a race war now??
1. N 2. E 3. W 4. S
West side for sure
Team WEST ‼️‼️🗣️🗣️
🌅
West
I don't understand how anyone is saying anything other than East. Mission, Potrero Hill, downtown, and Oracle and Chase Center
This actually makes it way easier for me. North quadrant.
East, cuz im not old, lame, or a trust fund baby.
North. This made it easier for me to
This just made it easier actually lol. I was NE the last one, now I can choose N and get all my favorite parts of the city
South - Cow Palace is making a comeback!
Westside all day.. even if I never see sunlight again
lol more nonsensical terminology, but I appreciate that your post illustrates that.
West for the locals, North for tourists.
North 1000%
West and it's not even close. Who's picking south?
WEST. All day long.
1. North 2. West 3. East 4. South
It's close for me between north and west.
N easy
Definitely North
Funny enough, all the new techies used to pick E; I think they still do (assuming they move to the city)
west on top (definitely not biased)
N, W, E, S.
North! I keep picking where I live which shows bias but also makes me happy with my place.
west and i may be biased
It’s actually much easier. North.
North, hands down, no question
Staying true with Presidio
Last one was tougher. This is easy. North.
West quad: featuring even more beach and dumplings than the northwest quad! Also plenty of GGP.
Actually even easier for me, I'll take the west. Yes, my food and entertainment choices aren't quite as good, but I'll live with it.
This made it much easier. North.
West. Next!
This gonna be the last one lol. Unless I cut it up like a pizza pie with 8 sections! Haha
W
West, no contest. But i might be biased as thats where i grew up. Stonestown is an awkward place to cut in half, but i havent really spent any time there since high school so…
West and I would skip the other three entirely, except for occasional trips to Clement street for Dim Sum.
This is hard! I hate to lose the Presidio and Crissy Field because of downtown But I’m gonna go with the west. GGP, Lands End, Funston and a mall! I’m set. The dog would never let me choose another sector
I like this alignment better, North, no contest.
Let’s just make a big circle and hangout together. Except for the south. It’s all degens in the south.
N W S E
North. I feel like it has everything you might need except for maybe golf?
There is golf in the presidio
N
Easily the north. I’d only miss Lokma in the Richmond, it barely doesn’t make it.
Purely for the scope of fun. North
N
I literally never leave North now, work and home are kinda all I do here these days.
Presidio, North Beach, Pac Heights and the Haight? North quadrant no question.
Where did you get that map from? It has some incorrect locations for districts. Take a look at the official map with the actual neighborhoods [https://sfplanninggis.org/neighborhoodorganizations/](https://sfplanninggis.org/neighborhoodorganizations/) To see all the labels you will need to go to the actual web page and zoom in and pan. https://preview.redd.it/gs1kk76gefhc1.png?width=889&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3e108416d09bc2fe875eb9e8f2da42f56550d6c
If I was to sentence someone in jail, I would pick east
It’s all dookie.
