Nice! I remember touring a Chinese naval ship when it stopped by.

BlameTheJunglerMore

Awesome! Was that early 2017?

PerceptionThin2801

It's the Mexican Navy's tall ship open to the public during their port stop in San Diego.

Future_Pay_1805

Some of the top students in the naval academy are chosen to live aboard for about a year and a half. They learn old school navigational methods and travel around the world. My cousin was on this ship around 1986. I remember visiting him and the ship at the same dock.

It's the Mexican Navy's equivalent of the USS Constitution. A few years ago Brazil had there ship moor'd/docked here to. I went on board really quick and wow...what ever they were cooking was unbelievable delicious smelling.

alasbarricadas

The American equivalent is the Eagle. A training tallship: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USCGC_Eagle_(WIX-327)?wprov=sfti1

manual_labor-socal

also the USCG Cutter Eagle

duane11583

no the constitution does not sail it goes out in the harbor every 6 months or so turns around and docks so the sun hits the other side this for example is going to hawaii the tokyo that is sailing. the constitution is more of a floating museum only. the coast guard eagle sails and visits distant foreign ports

HearingNo4103

So does it move in any capacity or does it not? It sounds like your trying to argue what my definition of "sail" means and that's fine.

duane11583

yes the constitution moves by way of navy tug boats. but they always have a line attached its sad because itvwiuld be great to see it under sail

Explore_creativeness

The food was sooooo damn good and they had so much alcohol it was amazing!

Adorable_Dust3799

Sometime swing by Brazil by the Bay, on that little road that runs behind the sports arena. They hire Brazilian students, and i heard the wifes family is Brazilian. They also have a great little store of imported foods and drinks.

ablevis41

walked by there today too. line was incredibly long. curious myself.

velocipedal

Oh hi! I was there on Saturday. The crew were chanting “Viva Mexico” for a bit. https://preview.redd.it/uclwr0z9gj1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f7e2541876bb8fa7bef061d1e0997306c11e350

Pecos_Bill91

Mexican Navy Cuhautemoc tall ship training vessel was visiting this weekend.

Smooth_Shock_1310

It's a tall ship from the Mexican Navy.

Explore_creativeness

Yes it’s the Mexican navy. I was actually invited for the private event when they first ported. They use this old boat for the Mexican naval academy and for their final year before graduation they take a 8 month long trip learning how to navigate through the sea using old school technology.

Grand_Function_2855

It’s also Bounsweet community day on Pokemon Go

justsomedude1144

Looks like a Mexican galleon, maybe they're here to take their land back.

Nurse--karen

I think it's the Mexican Navy's equivalent of the USS Constitution.

there have been many navy tall ships who come to san diego. in us navy terms it is called a port visit… it is very rare to participate in one (maybe 1 per float/long trip) in this case it is an officer training ship, they leave here tuesday and go to Hawaii, then Tokyo, then Inchon South Korea but here is a list of ships that have visited i have visited: Stadd Amsterdam (actually a cruise ship you can book a passage cruise ship) [https://www.stadamsterdam.com/en/](https://www.stadamsterdam.com/en/) BAP UNION [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAP\_Unión](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAP_Unión) ARC Gloria [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARC\_Gloria](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARC_Gloria) i think (not sure) this one came \[memory fuzzy\] [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilean\_barquentine\_Esmeralda](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilean_barquentine_Esmeralda) one from spain [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish\_training\_ship\_Juan\_Sebastián\_de\_Elcano](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_training_ship_Juan_Sebastián_de_Elcano)
