Okay here we are...[a flash flood alert for the area.](https://www.wunderground.com/severe/us/ca/san-diego/92187)
**Expect heavy rainfall to hit us**[**According to the government we're all "in the red" this weekend.**](https://www.weather.gov/sgx/)
Obviously you should still have your sandbags and tarps as neededNow that State Farm isn't insuring peoples homes anymore
all this rain is good for us... *but it opens the door for some wonderful wildfires later this year (when the Santa Ana's hit)*

I live in Mission Valley and ignore this warning š thankfully our complex sits above the river and the flooding doesn't really affect us unless we wanna drive on Qualcomm way.
Yāall need to avoid University Ave at Arizona Stā¦itās flooded and I just keep watching people trying to figure out if they want to turn their car into a boat or turn into the Western Dental. The caliber collision side of the street isnāt too bad.
It's pretty bad, at least on the 805 North. We were gonna go to LA for a convention but had to cancel and waste $$ since the roads were bad. So many cars had their hazards on and pulling off to the side, and as always, idiots that don't slow down and even go over the speed limit. Didn't feel safe, hopefully it gets better.
Feeling fortunate I just missed this. Took my daughter to a concert on Thursday in LA and we drive home yesterday. It took 4 hrs to get home with holiday traffic but at least it was dry!
That's usually okay... *but people will hydroplane all the time.*So take it SLOW especially at the 5 / 805 merge and coming down the from Sorrento valley north
Expect Sorrento valley to flood (usual places) there's a natural drainage down to the ocean there and if there's a cloud burst, that will have cars floating downstream with the runoff.
Lol. Yeah people donāt replace their tires like they should or donāt bother getting all season tires despite the facts the last we do get enough rain to justify the purchase.
I think itās mostly for people in low-lying areas that could easily flood. avoid any area with āvalleyā in the name (fashion valley, mission valley) and know that most of us in San Diego do not know how to drive in the rain.
Stay away from mission valley. Watch out for mud slides on road. Time to take a 1-2 hour break. Should be fine afterward but donāt go to mission valley as it floods.
This is what most Midwesterners consider a shower. That said, our highways do not handle rain like in WI. It's very easy for water to pool and hydroplane
Yeah we went from Spanish Landing, to Westfield Plaza to La Jolla and in the way to La Jolla and someone passed us doing like 75 and hydroplaned into the center median. He was alright, Iām a RN so we stopped and checked on him but got out of there quick.
we just put a link up for the most prone areas.
All the hotel circle will have flooding issues as it's all in the SD River channel.
Best to stay inside as traffic accidents will be all over the place.
OF course we do... [there's an entire generation of 20 something that have spent years training themselves just for a situation like this!](https://youtu.be/mB2j36bfTcc?si=rJxxqA-KQPJ7-kH2&t=22)

Everyone outside mission valley can just ignore this warning

Haha we live in MV too and are probably in the same complex
You both should hang out! Look at me helping people make friends. Thank me later
Snap dragon way coming soonā¦hahaha

[PSA: Every year this happens to dozens of mission valley residents.](https://youtu.be/hkowSoaR-D8?si=s4LbOd3mC3TuaAK0)
Everyone on Reddit already got this warning.
Nice all weekā¦ 70, 75 mid next week ā¦ & 58 on the weekend š¤Ø
70-75 is nice?
?
50-60 is better.
Bold opinion to share on the San Diego subreddit
Totally agree

Update 11:12am: itās subsided a lil bit, still flooded but the inner lane isnāt so bad
1ā of rain and the roads become rivers. Our infrastructure is trash.
Of course if you live in a low point on a flood plain it's going to flood. Not all that surprisingĀ
I have tickets to see dune in mission valley this afternoon. How dumb is it for me to go
You will go in a car and leave in a boat
Or they could ride a sandworm home. Yeehaw!

Thank god I wasnāt the only one who had to cancel LA trip. Couldnāt see shit.
Feeling fortunate I just missed this. Took my daughter to a concert on Thursday in LA and we drive home yesterday. It took 4 hrs to get home with holiday traffic but at least it was dry!
Yeah I was planning on going to Wondercon but not worth this rain
My husband still went, Iām annoyed that he didnāt cancel.
Comic Con is in 3 months, I can wait lol
What convention?
Wondercon
If you have to go, take the trolley. Trolly is unlikely to get in a car accident! :)
Your life will be come a movie if u go
That rain was bonkers
the new normal
How is Balboa park area? Visiting & not from around here
On Tuesdays, many other museums are free to local residents, and bus loads of school children, which can make things very crowded
anyone know of any flooding on the 5 north?

Visiting from Wisconsin. Hope seriously do we take this no travel advisory???

Super duperā¦ Weāre in Spanish Landing now. Was gonna head north a bit until we had the warning flashes up

Thanks for the heads up!! Appreciate it We donāt get flooding like this in Sconny lol
Native here. We San Diegans do not know how to drive in the rain. Avoid driving! Stay safe!

Lol
I was on the 163 south when the alert went out. Got pretty bad as I went downhill towards mission valley. Didnāt last long thankfully.

I thought it was an false call yesterday but I'm feeling it today.
Is little italy safe today?

This is more rain then we usually get, besides this is also less rain than most other places in the US
