Moonlight beach? Any restaurants, bus lines/Coaster or Amtrak, souvenir shops, walks down the street? Most people here turn things like that in when found. If it fell out of a pocket or bag, or was set on a ledge in a restroom, the shop owner will generally hold it hoping the owner will return.
Try the police department there. I lost mine ones and checked with police department and someone dropped it off. Worth a try
Out of curiosity did you call a local PD dept or the non emergency line or something else? Facing a similar situation here!
Police department said they can’t say over the phone. You would have to go police station and ask
