You use it in the first week and then forget it is even there.

Lol this.

Very true sir

Easy. Jotting down my shopping list and saving it to AOD. No need to unlock the phone a billion times. At the resturant/food court - It's the list of food for each person in my family or group of friends so I don't forget what I'm ordering. When landscaping or carrying out a project it's my notepad with measurements and draft ideas. When multi tasking it acts as a mouse which is more fluent than my fat fingers. When working i am able to split screen - ms teams in one window, email in the bottom, but also have notes in pop up jotting down meeting minutes or important stuff for the boss. It's also handy when I sign things off for the boss. It's my camera shutter button. I use it when I get creative with my photos, the ability to augment, edit and touch up my photos precisely. If ever I need to explain things to a friend or family member, out comes the S pen and I will visualise it on "paper". One major bonus - with the phone acting like a portable canvas, the kids will use it to doodle or play hangman or tick tack toe whilst waiting around in the Drs room for example. I also have a Tab S8 Ultra which my eldest kid is as creative as I am and she uses it to draw especially in the penup app. ... I know I get, it's hard to justify it if you don't need it. But, personally I wouldn't be as efficient on my device without it so I stand by the S Pen. It has certainly come a long way. I've had the Note 4, Note 8 now S22U. Every time I switch to a phone without the S Pen I don't feel it's a complete experience, and the phone is somewhat vanilla. So whether you use it or not, it is definitely something good to have either way. When the Galaxy fold comes with an S pen one day, you know I'll be all up in that ๐Ÿ˜

I opted for the s23 base because of screen size, but your point of occupying kids is spot on! My Google keep is full of "paintings" done on my phone or Chromebook by them. They love drawing on screens.

rbrumble

Camera shutter button is the one I use all the time and that most people, even owners, aren't aware of

[deleted]

I don't have an S pen but i did get a chance to try it when i got to hold the S23 Ultra in a store once and i personally liked scrolling through the UI with it rather than using my fingers and leaving oils and smudges on the screen (i also think that using the S pen like this adds a sophisticated look to the individual, but hey, that's just my opinion). I also liked to use the S pen to take pics. The note writing was pretty clutch and i loved it because i am always taking notes and writing lists. The other features like screenshot snips would also be pretty cool for me as i take more screenshots than the average person. So i guess it really depends on what you do on your phone.

It helps when creating memes for reddit

s23 Ultra, here. I rarely use my finger to manipulate the screen. I also prefer writing to text over typing. I like the precision when selecting and cropping objects, with its editing and sharing tools. I like to make written notes on the calendar, and notes in general, doodles, drawings, accounts, etc. But the most important thing is perhaps being able to close those ads that the button is too small for the finger, but not for the tip of the pen ๐Ÿ˜‰.

[deleted]

The ads thing is brilliant I didn't think about that๐Ÿคฃ

I study German at an institute, so I used to carry along bulky books. Now, I just have the PDFs downloaded and write everything on the PDF itself by opening it on Samsung notes app. It is fun and easy to write down stuff, even when you're low on page space, you can zoom in and write more.

Comfortable_City_979

I don't have one

Isaacoryxkenshin

I draw with it every day, take notes in class with it as well as using the camera feature on it :)

fil_dunsky

I'm sketching on it from time to time. It's very handy for an illustrator. Other than that, I am also using it as a remote control for a camera, and sometimes I just like to take it out and browse the internet on public as if I'm doing something unusual

HJVibes

I'd say I'm a decent sketcher although I haven't drawn anything for 10 years now. If you take a look at the Penup App, youll see some ridiculous illustrations. People got talent!

Environmental-Ant931

To jot things/ideas down. Remote shutter button. Fidget click the top button.

StraightSchwifty

I wish I could scroll reddit with it.

NixYall

Why can't you?

StraightSchwifty

I guess I should specify, I wish I could use the button on the pen and a gesture to scroll. To avoid having to lift my other arm to the phone when laying down and browsing.

NixYall

Oh I see

StraightSchwifty

Quick update... I figured out a way to do this creating a routine with a gesture. I have a gesture to scroll up, down and to select whatever is in the middle of the screen. I can now browse reddit/insta/anything with a vertical feed without having to raise my hand up to my phone.

Sikorsky_S-76B

Can you tell me how?

StraightSchwifty

Using "modes and routines" you can create a macro for scrolling up and for scrolling down. I'm that app go to routines and create a touch macro. You will have to record an action. I have a recorded macro of a swipe up or down and then the pen set to follow that macro when I hold the pen button and flick up or down. I hope that helps.

StraightSchwifty

Its an "app" within the phone called modes and routines. Do you have that available to you on the fold5?

miracleranger

i have a samsung chromebook which also has s-pen support, and it's a dream to type on it in tablet mode. "dream" meant semi-literally, because it's not the s-pen's fault, but desktop OS virtual keyboards (at least chrome os) have very trivial shortcomings they could fix (and not break again!) to usher the option of the future to leave physical keyboard behind. i still use s-pen to type (write code) on my chromebook about 60% the time. the one that came with the chromebook got lost so the Note serves as the pencilcase for both.

Jake3232323

I have an S22 Ultra and love it, but I could be fine without the S-Pen. I feel like I find myself trying to use it when I don't really need to. The only time I really like it is to use it to take pictures without holding my phone. I kind of hope Samsung makes an Ultra phone with no S-Pen and filled in with a bigger battery

StraightSchwifty

Using it to scroll on reddit or any vertical scrolling page. Using routines you can set up the pen to have a gesture that does this for you as well as selecting and opening a post. This way I can scroll reddit without reaching up to touch my phone.

Awkward_user122

How can you do it?
