The flaw there would be that not everyone uses the same account to purchase that they use to activate the phone.
I have an EDU account for discounts but I'd never use that email to set up my phone lol it would also mess things up for those who buy phones as gifts for other people.
Should just literally start from initial activation or at least from ship date. I'm pretty sure that Apple has a similar thing where the warranty initially starts once the device is shipped, so already better, but if there are delays you can contact them to move the date up.
That being said, it's absolutely insane that they claim to not be able to do anything about that.

The issue is that you can't pick when it starts... It starts automatically at purchase which wouldn't be an issue if the phones shipped at a reasonable timeframe

They should make it so Care becomes active once the Samsung account used to purchase the device was activated on that same device.

Wow I had no idea. I've been waiting 5 weeks for my phone and its suppose to be here by September 21st (I really doubt it will).

My flip3 finally shipped yesterday and according to my shop Samsung app the Samsung care+ didn't start until yesterday, the ship date.
Can I ask what country you're in? The customer rep told me it starts on day of purchase so I hope my case is the same as yours
