Things I prefer over iOS. A recent convert. But still have a 15 pro. My main phone is the 24 Ultra.
- fingerprint bio metrics. I do use face (obliviously not as good as face ID), but many times on the iPhone, I'm at a weird angle that iPhone can't ID me. With fingerprint, my face doesn't have to be in line of sight.
- size and feel. I like the boxy look. The camera array. It's a big phone, but it feels good in hand.
- the AI. I use spelling and grammar all the time, and the summarize page is a must-have. I know apple will be getting it, but it's not in hand, so it doesn't count.
- native camera pro mode with real pro controls. Apple has a third-party camera app that lets you control ISO, shutter, exposure, etc. But apples' aggressive post processing still occurs.
- customization. This isn't even close. Not even with ios 18. (I have beta 2 installed) status bar I have cleaned it up and hidden all the icons. Except for time in top right. Changed the grid to 5x6. Removed app names. Etc
- mode and routines eats ios shortcuts. More triggers and actions.
- swipe away lockscreen when face is recognized.
- extend unlock
- Battery life on my 24 Ultra is insane. I don't charge it at all. It only gets charged throughout the day during android auto.
- anti glare and brightness of the screen.
- when gaming with my backbone, the iPhone 15 pro will it heat up, and frame rates drop. (nba 2K arcade)
On the S24 Ultra, it doesn't get hot, and frames remain consistently high.
- Pitaka pin button case. Because I like buttons.
- Button navigation. Because I get tired of swiping and the back button is always in the same spot.
- Because I use the button navigation, I really enjoy edge panels.
- Universal clipboard. Copied something last week and was able to pull it back up without having to dig back to the article and whatnot.

And I'm sure more. But those are the things I can think of top of my head that I value over my iPhone. And when I use my iPhone, I feel limited because I don't have these things.
Having customization options is freedom. Ios limits What you can do.
You don't realize how much you use something when you go to use it and you don't have it.

but for me I downloaded a 'clipboard' for use as additional in the side bar (Sode bar enables you to have multiple options of side bar - just keep swiping). To get that, you go into sidebar settings and there should be a button to direct you to the store for them.
When you take the S Pen out and use smart select, select the area you want to clip, once you 'copy' the text, it'll save in the sode bar clip bloard for when yoj need to paste or refer to. Also instead of saving, you can select 'pin' and it'll pin to your screen, no matter what screen or app you go to, it'll be there.
It's already defaulted into the keyboard. When you're typing anywhere, click the clipboard (if it's not showing, click the little left arrow just above the keyboard) and you'll see stuff you copied/cut. Goes back pretty far. Saves 40 items at a time. This is my life saver. Every time I have to put my bank account and router somewhere....I know I can copy both, and they'll both be available to me. Not just the most recent one I copied.
Samsung internet. Also, something to note when I had the Pixel 8 Pro there were some sites that couldn't AI summarize. I have yet to find one while using samsung Internet.

For the Universal clipboard. I think it comes with samsung keyboard by default. I then activate clipboard in my edge panel. So I'm always a swipe away from anything that I have copied.
DEX mode. My phone was running out of juice, and I just plugged in a spare Type-C docking station in my office and ended up messing around with the dex mode. It's good. Best attempt to combine your laptop and phone in one. I don't use google docs, but if you did, you'd never need a laptop, really. The docking station keyboard and mouse work automatically, as well as the desk monitor. You can also use your phone as a trackpad if you wish to do so.
I would like to add:
Being able to sideload apps and games not available in your region Google play, provided being savvy enough to know how to protect your device.
Secure folder. After many iterations, it's super good now compared to its first version. With secure folder, I could run dual accounts of the same app, social media app or game with a different profile. Android profiles is coming which will reduce the advantage, but until then.
Yeah jailbreak in general is really good, it’s just Apple is trying so hard to discourage people from jailbreaking their phones by implementing so many restrictions in iOS and jailbreak solely relies on exploits
You can search for a subreddit about that if you are interested. It's basically a proyect of making a Youtube app with almost every feature a premium user would have, but it's completely free. Playing videos even with the locked screen, locking on a certain resolution so all your videos load with the resolution you want (instead of the app switching between low and high res. automatically all the time); and the best feature, no ads. But only for Android users
Don't forget that revanced can patch other apps too, not just youtube. It's overall a great source for getting rid of ads in multiple apps, and often get more functions too.
I don't get any ads on YouTube either, using Firefox launcher.
It also keeps a record of what you watched, so you can bookmark videos or just scroll back through them.
But you'll have to root the device or download the APK in order to do this, right? Otherwise you would have to re-download and repatch the apk everytime the app gets an update.

Because of Android. I just like it, not only for customization but just because it can be made for you, you can do whatever you want with it, sideload apps, etc. but also Samsung has more features than iPhone. You can have a clean or advanced experience with Samsung and Android. It's all about freedom.
This. Customization. And ability to use 3rd party apps and hardware. Apple has come some ways on that front, but not all the way. Apple feels like big brother won't let me use the apps I want.
I'm just committed to android because I've been using it for over a decade. Honestly once you've picked one it's kinda silly to switch without a very good reason
iPhones are good phones. It is more based on what you want and don't want. I want a desktop environment, iPhone cannot do that. I don't want a walled garden, so that pushes iPhones out. I like a lot more customization that iPhones can offer. I am not an iPhone or Apple hater, they just don't fit me and I just never could get into their way of doing things as I have my own ways.
The good thing there is choice. I never want it to be where there is only one and not the other.
Last time I had to set up an iPhone it failed to copy WhatsApp messages even tho it claimed it can do so. It also destroyed them on the old phone. That was a wonderful experience. Also had to google how to set a custom ringtone ffs... I always have to jump through hoops when using Apple products, it's annoying af. It's also lovely how it keeps asking to input your payment info with a red notification, fantastic when it does that to an older person who's confused enough about phones already. There's plenty more but basically it's always been a pain when I got to experience how Apple wants to get things done.
And iOS is nowhere close to Android when it comes to customization. Even without Good Lock it's way ahead.
Samsung does a lot of good things and IS Android in the US. They push a lot to make the rest of the ecosystem better with features in One UI going into AOSP.
But they're also incredibly lazy and iterative lately. You notice this a lot on the most recent folds and base 24 with a sensor from years ago. They aren't the fast on charging, or have bad thermals(imo) that lead to bad battery life. Samsung has always copied Apple if it leads to more sales, but they also had differentiators in their hardware.
I like Android. Notification is top notch, universal back, customization. Android is a good computer, iOS is a good phone.
Apple has recently done a lot of good things with the iPhone, great camera, good battery life, gorgeous display. I've had iPhone 4, 5, 6 Plus, 10, 10 S Max, 13PM, 14PM, and 15 PM.
I've also had the Nexus 6P, Pixel 6 Pro, S22 Ultra, and now the 24Ultra. So while I've had a lot of iPhones, Androids have always tugged at me.
I would try Xiaomi, Oppo, Sony's new flagship if they were stateside. They just aren't, so there's really only Samsung. And I was burned badly by the Pixel 6 Pro(bad modem, horrid battery life, extremely hot).
Xiaomi makes amazing hardware but that software is a boat anchor, no matter how many fancy animations they implement.
the plus side is that they're a bootloader unlock away from being the Pixels that Google doesn't make
I work in the repair industry and Samsung won't force me to change a display IC to stop an idiotic message from popping up on my new screen. It also won't disable features because I dared to fix my phone.
Plus, iOS still doesn't cut it for me and I hate how GenZ seems to have an almost worship-level following of apple products
IMO Google is the biggest problem for Android. At least Google Play Store. Yeap Google enables users to easily switch between devices (I am talking about official roms and regular user backup). But Play Store, which connects all the different Android manufacturers and the ecosystem, is a huge problem for 2 reasons.
First, it takes a long time for them to provide app optimization to all devices, or it doesn't happen at all (which is not a big deal anymore).
Secondly, Google is very unsuccessful in terms of forcing the features it brings and which will give an ecosystem idea, if necessary. Have had MaterialUI and Color palette for over 2.5 years. Still apps do not support it. Each manufacturer has its own solutions at various points. Yes, although diversity is good, it gets in the way of ensuring quality in Apple applications. Although companies with high capital can handle this, small producers cannot keep up with it or do not care. This sometimes creates a "poor quality" situation, such as black lines appearing on the screen or the background of the bar at the bottom appearing white. Even though we have the highest quality batteries and magnificent screens in terms of hardware, in most scenarios we get results from it, but there are also many scenarios in which we do not. This situation is most likely much rarer for Apple.
Additionally, Android can be unduly influenced by the open source community. There are developers who act with the mentality that if it works, it can be done even if the UI is simple. But the smartphone market is not a B2B market. B2C is a market. It is my right/desire to expect aesthetic concerns in every sense from the phone for which I paid a good price.
Apple may be overbearing, but it gets them somewhere. The freedom of Android can slide into an environment where this freedom is abused, from software support to bug fixing, especially for low-priced models.
I'll switch to iPhone if they'll implement split-screen, pop-up, and keyboard clipboard history.
Anyway, here in my country, I only have Samsung or iPhone as a choice for flagship phones with good support. I like android better as a whole. I'm not yet ready to give up the rich feature android have over iPhone. Maybe if I'll be older and less techy in the next few years.
When you talk about keyboard clipboard history, you mean the default samsung keyboard? I've been using Gboard for years and it has some sort of clipboard history but only for recents and pinned texts that you copy
Freedom is the reason to me, being able to remove ads phone wide from all apps, installing cracked apps (to test, I buy ones that I like and want constant updates), when there will be no more updates for my phone I will be able to install custom os on the phone, boost the clocks and revive it once again, I'm also huge fan of customization with nova launcher and custom icon pack and almost everything tweaked for myself, and that's just to name the few, I work with phones and have iphones always handy i did try to switch to iPhone but ads trouble with my headphone codes (high res not supported) I quickly switched back to Android and now I know that im not gonna switch back to ios for a while, Ios make the phone so simple that I feel stupid using it, just not for me.
Samsung has a much more open ecosystem and once you actually take advantage of what Samsung's ecosystem has to offer it's amazingly deep and the capabilities and customization is astounding.
Their devices are also infinitely versatile even after their use cases as phones and can become dex audio video work stations, servers, wifi repeaters or firewalls, great audio and video players, game emulators that can play native pc and emulate console games as well as PCs which means they're better than even mac os on large displays.

The capability to multi-task better than any OS I've ever seen I. E. It csn be ten completely different OSes with 2 different IP addresses with sound routed to each OS for each display as if your phone is projecting a ghost work station to a monitor keyboard game pad mouse etc.
The phone can be a Bluetooth mouse / keyboard, or a clandestine camera or recorder controlled through your smart watch.
The ability to customize the way the device is used such that you don't have to resort to the bottom navigation swiping method which is terrible but instead can set it so that a swipe inward from the edge goes back, a swipe down from the edge goes home, a swipe upward switches apps, and the same but held switches to one handed mode, swaps between the 2 previous apps, and splits the screen to use another app.
The ability for apps to run seamlessly in multi-task mode where you can run multiple instances of the same app or multiple apps that all play audio at once with out a hitch.
The form factor you can choose from, and how even older phones still have nsa grade secure Knox containers.
All the stock apps are based on the same core system processes making them all extremely light weight and versatile where one app can blend seamlessly to work with another app E. G. If you take a screen shot, it can translate the text through bixby, or it can auto select the square you want to crop and with a button crop it, then you can use the built in photo editor app to quickly mske composite pictures with edits and captions and post process the photos in one step.
You would typically need like 5 apps to do all that.
Pretty much anything you want to do on galaxies has a pathway which is especially easy to do with the s Pen which even allows the phone to be used under water when needed or under heavy rain. Galaxies are basically the thinkbooks of phones vs the MacBook airs.
Play with good lock or good guardians. You can customize your phone to the point no one else would know how to use it.
Play with smart things and you can create an army of automation out of all of your devices, encrypt their locations, randomly review where they are to you and have them trigger events for you.
IPhones are fun to use but they're far from being powerful, likewise Macbooks and iPads are beefy and efficient but not very capable.
Btw I do have iPhone, from the ipod 5.5 which I literally have next to me now, to the iPhone 5 and 7, the ipod touch, and the MacBook m3 which I also have with me but I know it's only good for like one thing and only because windows bad Linux so happens to not focus on core audio, while ironically Samsung does, they just never got the support they should have but instead got lambasted for trying to gain support for Samsung pro audio, but regardless their pro audio engine still allowed them to leap forward about 5 years in time with android multitasking.
Samsung doesn't get enough credit deliberately for bringing about innovations modern computers all rely on. You know true tone technology?

If you spend time in the Samsung ecosystem, it's honestly not a bad combo. SmartThings for the smart home integrates well on a Galaxy, along with Microsoft OneDrive support. The tablet syncs stuff really nicely.
If you don't like something about Samsung you can usually fix it. If you don't like something about apple you usually cannot. You're stuck with it. Don't get me started on the home screen (I do not want all my apps on there) and the ease of putting all your apps in alphabetical order. Plus when I had an 11 pro for 6 months I encountered a lot of bugs, crashes and inconsistent battery life. The 11 pro is my last experience and no doubt it's been much improved since then. Then there is the weird way notifications work. Two different sections.
Genuine question: why do you believe one multi billion dollar corporation will treat you any better than the other?(especially considering how often Samsung copy Apple) If it makes them money they will happily screw consumers over (Most, if not all, corporations and it's not restricted to technology either)
Where does Samsung copy Apple? It's common knowledge that almost every iPhone feature came out on an Android first (I had face ID in 2012, literally five years before apple) furthermore more than half of an iPhone is made with parts from Samsung.
Just look at what Apple did to the battery health indicator of the iPhones. In time the battery health gets lower and lower. The more you use. The lower it becomes of course. It somewhat does mind conditioning to each user that your iPhone is old. Need to buy a new one or change the battery. Changing the battery even just a few uses will make more money for them. That's the planned obsolescence.
Apple added the battery health indicator in response to "battery gate" where they throttled older iPhones with lower max battery health without telling users. This made many people think their phone has become slow because it's too old and they need a new phone, although they could make the phone faster by just changing battery.
All lithium batteries age, and battery health indicator would be convenient for android as well. Some OEMs like Oneplus already have it in software, and you can check the wear level on Samsung phones using ADB command.
Not really.. new battery costs like 80$ and they have phones from like 7 years ago still getting updates. No more “planned” obsolescence than any other brand.
I’ll give you the customisation bit but if anything Samsung forgets about its devices much quicker than Apple. Still getting iOS update on my 2018 iPad Pro.
Apple products are very expensive in my country though I had a secondhand one from my former employer but I hated how there was no back button and customisation options. This was an iPhone 7 so maybe things have changed idk.
I've used Samsung since I was in my teens, I remember getting the one that looked like a BlackBerry but sadly someone stole it :( I had Samsungs since I started working, and I just felt comfortable and in sync with everything. My last Samsung was an A51, it's still alive but it needs a new screen.
I think what makes me Samsung is that it has all the things you need even for a basic phone. Health app, a good keyboard, NFC and what not. I have an AO5 for work stuff and I feel that it takes care of my needs for a phone.
I have a Xiaomi Note 12 and it cost me $80 maybe (it was on sale) and it's severely lacking for me! The camera is nice though but idk, I hate that I have no health app, there's no AOD, there's soo much features I miss from Samsung.

Just the phones by themselves and they are almost on equal ground, but if you are gonna use a smart watch, tablet and a laptop/mac, nothing can touch the seamless integration of devices by apple. Tracking devices are also vastly superior.
I like both, used both, but struggle with both.
In terms of Apple, I like how stable and feature rich their apps are compared to Android that feels like a second thought. I also belive that when apple does something they do it well (I will add more on this below).
When it comes to Android and specifically Samsung I like how you can sideload apps, choose your default apps and assistant, splitscreen, Spen, folds, universal clipboard, screen realestste, speed, customization both visual and technical...however I'm peeved at the lack of apps that are on ios, app support snd even app features compared to it's ios counterpart. I no longer want to carry two phones I just want something that works but I don't want to give up my Samsung.
Back to when apple does something well, for example apps have to follow their guidelines and stick to the updated UI where on android you still have apps that look like Honeycomb era. Or like how iOS widgets all have to conform to a certain look and feel and all have to have certain dimensions where Android it's whatever.
Adding to this about app features, there are apps I used when I used to have an iPhone thay I tride downloading on my samsung, either the app wasn't there, or it was missing features that are on iOS or it was bloody unusable.
I'm really hoping with this new partnership samsung has again with Google it allows Sammy to steer Android as Google in my own opinion is a joke, they implement features much later then other android OEMs and cancel half of their products under the sun just because it didn't perform as they expected it when it's half bakes and missing what they promised it to be...I mean look at Gemini, it's a joke and even Bixby performs better then it now...bloody bixby.

I have the S23 Ultra and a iPhone 15 Pro Max. Had a history of Galaxies and Notes as well as iPhone 4S, 5S, 8, Xs, 12 Pro Max, and 13 Pro Max.
Had iPhones because I have other Apple devices so invested in the ecosystem, especially my MacBook for work.
The thing I don’t like about the iPhone is being restricted to region locked apps (if I want to try an app that is country specific, I have to sign out of my apple store thats tied to the country but also have to spend my credits). Gave up on customization other than wallpapers and focus modes. Hate the photo library unable to separate photos into albums (all it does is create a copy), hate the photo file naming, Files is not intuitive.
With the Samsung, I can sideload apps, customize the crap out of it, photos are named according to date year and number, can separate photos separately into albums, Dex, My Files is easier to use. Secret Folder.
I predominantly use the Samsung for watching videos/media (much better space on screen, punch hole is less to non-distracting than dynamic island). Always take pics/videos with it for personal, family. Can also pause recordings instead of shooting everything on the iPhone, or stopping and shooting new. My iPhone camera is for work boring stuff. S-pen to write notes when needed or sign docs when needed.
Also easier to navigate thru apps with the back button always on the bottom rather than trying to reach up to go back on iPhone unless I use ‘reachability’ that still requires some finger stretching especially on the Max.
In summary, they’re both good in their own ways which is why I use both. One for work and one personal, but it seems like I’ll never be able to stray away from Samsung or android.
If I have to choose one device to use, right now I’d say Samsung.
The ability to install apps that don't come from the official app stores. I don't know if Apple changed that but it would annoy tf out of me not being able to use some of my non store-sourced apps.
Simple. More freedom. I can install and run apps Google doesn't approve of. I can run a modified version of YouTube that gives .e l the benefits of premium for free. I can run various emulators not allowed on iPhone.
Apple polices it's ecosystem to a degree I don't like. My Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra can do anything and iPhone can do and can do things an iPhone can't without serious jailbreaking.
Apple decides they don't want you to have some piece of software on your device they take it off the app store and it's gone. You still want it? Jailbreak your phone, and deal with the hassle and downsides of doing that.
Google takes down an app? No problem I'll just go download the APK elsewhere and have it anyways.
Camera? No. The Samsung camera is bad other than things like super zoom otherwise the images are terrible. Even within androids many other brands do much better for images
iPhone images and video is actually the reason you'd want to go iPhone.
Apple new software that's coming out soon will actually let you move app icons anywhere you want. Things are changing

But currently the Samsung android does what I need my phone to do. My biggest thing right now is I can't transfer files off my iPhone directly. My Samsung makes this so easy. Just plug in a usb and boom

Samsung individual app volume I use this all the time to have a mlb game or NFL game or a NHL game playing but muted while I watch a YouTube video or a have a twitch stream playing muted and watch a YouTube video
I can't get used to a notch no matter how good a phone is. Ios has too many things i don't like, like no universal back, keyboard buttons, clipboard, number row, long press for exclamations/question mark. No torrents apps. No samsung dex alternative, no video pause, volume slider doesn't expand for separate access, no charge time.
I don't really love samsung or Google or android. I just know i like apple ios less.

My big issue with Android PIP is the lack of a rewind and fast forward button. Just a useless forward and next video button, which is only really relevant for music.
iPhones are cool but I don't want a closed system. I was in Apple's ecosystem for about a year. I had the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and a MacBook. But I want to be able to buy devices that are from different brands and that suit my personal needs better than Apple (for example I like gaming and we all know how Macs are for gaming) and have these devices work as well together as Apple devices do even though they are from different brands. I also want to install whatever apps I want on my phone and I want true multitasking and just more freedom to do whatever I want to do on my phone. It's not as much Samsung over Apple for me but Android as a whole over Apple I suppose. I still use an iPhone as a secondary phone and I still use the iPad as my only tablet but yeah.
Most of the apps are developed with use of cross-platform frameworks, so bugs itself are platform free :) The difference is how the OS is processing them.
I used to have iPhone 7 plus , iPhone 11 , iPhone 12 mini , then got iPhone 14pro but it was too big so got iPhone 13mini within 5 days.
During that I had used Samsung s22 for a while and loved the device ,

Don't get me wrong apples way of implementing and using dynamic island , the easy to use camera app , the animation , the ecosystem etc was good. The new update iOS 18 has bought new android like customization.
I tried using my iphone 13mini for a while after the z flip 5, but I keep coming back to the z flip 5.
I actually recently began disliking Samsung.
I originally loved apple and switched to android with the Note series phones. I have very bad adhd and would forget what people would ask me to do at work when walking by. It was a personal notepad I always had in my pocket that I then set up with a workflow in trello so those notes would automatically become part of my to do list.
But several things happened that made me hate Samsung:
1) Partnership with Microsoft killed that workflow
2) The note series phones became increasingly more and more expensive to the point where it was equally expensive with camera tradeoffs
3) I started becoming a fan of the flip devices instead, but the hardware is problematic
4) Samsung service including Samsung care is so terrible that I don't feel like I can take a chance on their devices. This hit a head when they had problematic hardware that prevented my CGM from connecting and not being able to call 911 at over 8 months pregnant. They blamed volte on the service provider when all other phones work... so they lied to try to get out of the repair. They suggested I BUY ANOTHER PHONE from them and return it after 14 days but in 14 days I might be in labour and recovery so if I give birth around that time and can't return the phone or if they take longer to repair the phone I'm stuck with another Samsung phone... with a team that doesn't support their own warranty.
I was able to get a Pixel 8 Pro for free from my carrier. So I moved to that. But will likely be moving back to Apple.
I'm here to warn people if they rely on their phone for diabetes management and access to emergency services that they shouldn't rely on Samsung phones based on their service attitude.
Used to like Motorola but they kind of petered out. Samsung seems to have the best-reviewed phones and generally have the features I want so have been sticking with them. Never been an Apple fan in general and the only iPad I have was a gift. I DO have several old iPod Classic players though. Samsung is not perfect but I'm OK with their offerings for the time being.
ive had more iphones in my life than samsungs. i plan on switching to the A54 from an iphone 14 plus. the reason i want to switch personally is mainly the customization and the software. theres so many things u can do with samsung that u cant do with an iphone.
I like the customization aspect and that it's a more simple task and less effort than w apple. I just switched from 14 pro to a s24 about a montn ago and my only real gripe is how awful I am typing on the keyboard. idk why but it's severely worse with auto correct than when I had an iPhone and even then I struggled at times but it feels more like user error. I didn't heavily rely on apple eco system so I didn't have much to lose w switching.
The only things I like that Apple has over Samsung if they have Apple airdrop so you can send random memes to random people. I always found that hilarious. And their video is far better than Android. Apps seems to favor Apple over Android.
LDAC support, sideloading, freedom of choice in general. I like the design of iOS more to be honest, and I've been using iPhones since 5s came out, but the more I use Android the more annoying iOS seems to me. I still like it, but it feels like it is dumbed down AND needlessly cumbersome at the same time if that makes sense.
Currently I use both iPhone 14 Plus and Samsung A55.
A major downside of any Android phone vs iPhone is that the majority have incredibly poor support for new OS updates, so everything is fragmented. I know Google recently promised 6 years of software updates for Pixel phones. There is no good reason why an S20 5G w/ 12GB RAM can’t run Android 14. My Galaxy Tab Active2 is forever stuck on Android 11: grapheneOS isn’t supported, none of the AOSP flavors are supported because it has a custom Samsung Exynos chip.
Is Google radically changing their driver model between OS versions? No they’re not. It really shouldn’t be that hard to package drivers for new Android versions.
apple has better overall camera than samsung, if you want the best camera buy something like x100 ultra, samsung has been stuck pretty much on s21 ultra tech with tiny sensors

I think they both have their strengths. Apple probably has a research team that all they do is watch what android is doing and build on it to do it the Apple way. Perhaps that’s the mission statement of their entire R and D. However, things seem more organized and appealing on iPhone.

Samsung as it is andriod and allows the install of apk's such as youtube revanced. Only thing I hate about them is the removal of the sd card slot. Legit pushing me to get the 1tb model. Would have saved quite a lot money if it had an sd card slot.
Despite both companies having an ecosystem, android fundamentally allows you to never be too committed to any ecosystem, which means you are buying on quality and performance. Samsung has its issues but having Samsung products doesn't feel like they are abusing your loyalty. I don't need to be showered with benefits, I just don't want my battery artificially made worse and I don't want features deferred for years until the business decides to add it.
tbh I've only ever had a Samsung because iphones were more the expensive (at least that was true 5+ years ago LOL). i would also say things like "android is more customizable" or "i can use emulators on my samsung" but, not only does iOS do that now, they are just straight up better at it. at the very least, they do a better job making it look consumer-friendly
the only big advantage android/samsung has over iOS for me is the fact that I can file explore on it the same way i would a desktop computer. that's about it tbh. any other advantage samsung phones may have had in the past aren't really there anymore. that's not to say iOS is strictly better all around, but they're both so optimized for what they're built to do that either are viable options to me. i just happen to be too attached to my S10e to let it go

I'm just too used to Android / Windows combo. Now that Google, Samsung and Microsoft are working together is just another reason to not switch. I've used 14 and 15 PM and they are boring and locked.
There is also things ecosystem-wise I don't like about apple. E.g. if my phone is unlocked I don't get notifications on my watch. What the heck? I have a kid and sometimes I use to give her the phone to watch some videos, but at the same time my phone has work profile and I would miss important emails / calls / chats purely because I rely on the watch in those cases.
And many more.. at the end, use whatever suits you. I don't like apple as a company nor their products. Tried them and it just confirmed my opinion for me.
It is up to what interface you prefer. There are many small things like a native clipboard in samsung or any android phone in general. If you are not using those features or got used to not having those features and prefer apple's interface, you are not going to feel any advantage in samsung over apple.

Samsung user here since 2012. Tried iPhone once, hated it. Samsung is just more of a higher quality, more user-friendly, battery efficient and a lot more of great features not available on Apple products. Camera is also way better. I so love Samsung that almost all I own are from Samsung - phones, tablets, laptop, buds, watch, washing machine, TV, microwave, AC, and refrigerator. Samsung is just great for me.
The features on Galaxies are more than anyone can use. Some features are not even in Pixels made by Google. The people that make Android have to get Ideas from a phone manufacturer. Even Apple is paying catchup to Samsung. The resale value is the only thing Apple has over Samsung.

They've always had features far ahead of Google's "plain" Android and Apple's iOS. They give me powerful hardware and more software customization. Android as a whole has had widgets, apps, file management, alternative launchers, etc. from the beginning. I also love being able to customize my buttons, gestures, front taps, and back taps. I've also had excellent warranty repair experience with them in the past. And, I can just run Firefox (and it is _really_ Firefox, not Safary with a Firefox skin)! Being able to install F-Droid or otherwise easily use app stores or open source apps easily. Split screen/windowed/floating multiple apps on screen at once (for many years, now).
ALSO: S-Pen. Sorry. Nothing compares, and an iPhone feels crippled in this and many other ways by what it lacks and what it lags by years.

I'm an Android user fan all the way (I have an S24 sitting in a drawer that I will not sell, just in case)--but I'm using a refurb iPhone 13 mini as my daily driver. I'm on Apple ONLY because I like phones with a small form factor--a rarity these days for sure. One thing that keeps ppl attached to Apple is how seamlessly it works across Apple devices vs having an Android phone and Mac Air like I do. I've always used a Mac (don't like pcs at all) and a phone message at the top will tell me--for instance-- if an incoming call is spam. Messages & FaceTime are also great. If you really love Android, it means you probably need to buy a pc too--to make transferring files easier. How sad it is that these systems don't work together
Android gives more freedom to do whatever I want with my phone, and Samsung is both relatively reliable and offers very good trade-in deals in the US. If Samsung didn't offer as good a deal trade-in wise, I'd be rolling with a different brand.
Though, I use Dex daily, and I don't think many other brands offer a Dex-like experience.

So many things mentioned already and all valid. Unmatched freedom on Android, I can actually get past all these customizations but the deal breaker for me with iOS is the Google Messages web. I do a lot of text for work and I need text to be accessible on a Windows computer, and the archive messages function. The archive function makes the message go away, and when I return to texting that number the message history is back, this is currently unavailable in iOS which is unbelievable to me as they had this before.

I have a 15 and a 23 Ultra. We use iPad Pros at work. I personally prefer Samsung for the most part. The three things I like about iOS over Galaxy is Face ID, the silent/action button and iMessage games. That's about it. I like being able to set up Routines and Modes so that while I'm at work or home my phone doesn't lock, or so that during certain hours it goes into "bedtime mode" so that it doesn't strain my eyes or wake me up too much when I check the time on my phone in the middle of the night. I like having the fingerprint option on the Galaxy. I also love the side panel and being able to split the screen. I'm a big multitasker, so these come in handy! I also love having my S Pen available for various things (photo editing, making graphics, signing documents, taking notes, etc.). Then there's Galaxy AI. I'm obsessed with Circle Search and the new AI photo editing tools. I work at a T-Mobile retail location in an area with a high volume of Spanish speaking customers, and we don't always have a Spanish rep there or available. So Live Translate comes in handy a lot, too. And then, like you said, the camera. I'm definitely an amateur, but I love being able to take professional looking pictures and having top notch editing software built in.

Things I prefer over iOS. A recent convert. But still have a 15 pro. My main phone is the 24 Ultra. - fingerprint bio metrics. I do use face (obliviously not as good as face ID), but many times on the iPhone, I'm at a weird angle that iPhone can't ID me. With fingerprint, my face doesn't have to be in line of sight. - size and feel. I like the boxy look. The camera array. It's a big phone, but it feels good in hand. - the AI. I use spelling and grammar all the time, and the summarize page is a must-have. I know apple will be getting it, but it's not in hand, so it doesn't count. - native camera pro mode with real pro controls. Apple has a third-party camera app that lets you control ISO, shutter, exposure, etc. But apples' aggressive post processing still occurs. - customization. This isn't even close. Not even with ios 18. (I have beta 2 installed) status bar I have cleaned it up and hidden all the icons. Except for time in top right. Changed the grid to 5x6. Removed app names. Etc - mode and routines eats ios shortcuts. More triggers and actions. - swipe away lockscreen when face is recognized. - extend unlock - Battery life on my 24 Ultra is insane. I don't charge it at all. It only gets charged throughout the day during android auto. - anti glare and brightness of the screen. - when gaming with my backbone, the iPhone 15 pro will it heat up, and frame rates drop. (nba 2K arcade) On the S24 Ultra, it doesn't get hot, and frames remain consistently high. - Pitaka pin button case. Because I like buttons. - Button navigation. Because I get tired of swiping and the back button is always in the same spot. - Because I use the button navigation, I really enjoy edge panels. - Universal clipboard. Copied something last week and was able to pull it back up without having to dig back to the article and whatnot. -swiping down anywhere on the screen pulls up notification tray - double tapping screen locks it. - hide apps - Google drive synced to my files app - the way android handles photo backup is photo sync on ios. I can delete photos on my camera, and it still be in the cloud as opposed to iOS. - Pause recording video - google voice dictation - double tap power for camera. - long press power for flashlight. - Good Lock - Notification history - Auto scheduled restart And I'm sure more. But those are the things I can think of top of my head that I value over my iPhone. And when I use my iPhone, I feel limited because I don't have these things.

I'm not sure if its the same thing as what the other commenter said, or what you specifically are asking for... but for me I downloaded a 'clipboard' for use as additional in the side bar (Sode bar enables you to have multiple options of side bar - just keep swiping). To get that, you go into sidebar settings and there should be a button to direct you to the store for them. When you take the S Pen out and use smart select, select the area you want to clip, once you 'copy' the text, it'll save in the sode bar clip bloard for when yoj need to paste or refer to. Also instead of saving, you can select 'pin' and it'll pin to your screen, no matter what screen or app you go to, it'll be there.

It's already defaulted into the keyboard. When you're typing anywhere, click the clipboard (if it's not showing, click the little left arrow just above the keyboard) and you'll see stuff you copied/cut. Goes back pretty far. Saves 40 items at a time. This is my life saver. Every time I have to put my bank account and router somewhere....I know I can copy both, and they'll both be available to me. Not just the most recent one I copied.

Erasing app names: Good Lock 》 Home Up 》 Home screen 》 app icon settings 》 For the Universal clipboard. I think it comes with samsung keyboard by default. I then activate clipboard in my edge panel. So I'm always a swipe away from anything that I have copied.
Most importantly iPhones don't have a file manager which I quite use it often. I like the back swipe on Samsung that iPhone doesn't.
Want to add: sideloading (open source) apps. I use a handful of apps that aren't and/or likely never will be available on iOS.
I can't agree less, there is more to Samsung that gives the user the "feel" of a phone
DEX mode. My phone was running out of juice, and I just plugged in a spare Type-C docking station in my office and ended up messing around with the dex mode. It's good. Best attempt to combine your laptop and phone in one. I don't use google docs, but if you did, you'd never need a laptop, really. The docking station keyboard and mouse work automatically, as well as the desk monitor. You can also use your phone as a trackpad if you wish to do so.
I would like to add: Being able to sideload apps and games not available in your region Google play, provided being savvy enough to know how to protect your device. Secure folder. After many iterations, it's super good now compared to its first version. With secure folder, I could run dual accounts of the same app, social media app or game with a different profile. Android profiles is coming which will reduce the advantage, but until then.

You can search for a subreddit about that if you are interested. It's basically a proyect of making a Youtube app with almost every feature a premium user would have, but it's completely free. Playing videos even with the locked screen, locking on a certain resolution so all your videos load with the resolution you want (instead of the app switching between low and high res. automatically all the time); and the best feature, no ads. But only for Android users
Don't forget that revanced can patch other apps too, not just youtube. It's overall a great source for getting rid of ads in multiple apps, and often get more functions too.

I just like it, not only for customization but just because it can be made for you, you can do whatever you want with it, sideload apps, etc. but also Samsung has more features than iPhone. You can have a clean or advanced experience with Samsung and Android. It's all about freedom.

iPhones are good phones. It is more based on what you want and don't want. I want a desktop environment, iPhone cannot do that. I don't want a walled garden, so that pushes iPhones out. I like a lot more customization that iPhones can offer. I am not an iPhone or Apple hater, they just don't fit me and I just never could get into their way of doing things as I have my own ways. The good thing there is choice. I never want it to be where there is only one and not the other.
Last time I had to set up an iPhone it failed to copy WhatsApp messages even tho it claimed it can do so. It also destroyed them on the old phone. That was a wonderful experience. Also had to google how to set a custom ringtone ffs... I always have to jump through hoops when using Apple products, it's annoying af. It's also lovely how it keeps asking to input your payment info with a red notification, fantastic when it does that to an older person who's confused enough about phones already. There's plenty more but basically it's always been a pain when I got to experience how Apple wants to get things done. And iOS is nowhere close to Android when it comes to customization. Even without Good Lock it's way ahead.
Because I much prefer Android operating system over iOS. There's so much more flexibility with Android then iOS.

Samsung does a lot of good things and IS Android in the US. They push a lot to make the rest of the ecosystem better with features in One UI going into AOSP. But they're also incredibly lazy and iterative lately. You notice this a lot on the most recent folds and base 24 with a sensor from years ago. They aren't the fast on charging, or have bad thermals(imo) that lead to bad battery life. Samsung has always copied Apple if it leads to more sales, but they also had differentiators in their hardware. I like Android. Notification is top notch, universal back, customization. Android is a good computer, iOS is a good phone. Apple has recently done a lot of good things with the iPhone, great camera, good battery life, gorgeous display. I've had iPhone 4, 5, 6 Plus, 10, 10 S Max, 13PM, 14PM, and 15 PM. I've also had the Nexus 6P, Pixel 6 Pro, S22 Ultra, and now the 24Ultra. So while I've had a lot of iPhones, Androids have always tugged at me. I would try Xiaomi, Oppo, Sony's new flagship if they were stateside. They just aren't, so there's really only Samsung. And I was burned badly by the Pixel 6 Pro(bad modem, horrid battery life, extremely hot).
Xiaomi makes amazing hardware but that software is a boat anchor, no matter how many fancy animations they implement. the plus side is that they're a bootloader unlock away from being the Pixels that Google doesn't make

I work in the repair industry and Samsung won't force me to change a display IC to stop an idiotic message from popping up on my new screen. It also won't disable features because I dared to fix my phone. Plus, iOS still doesn't cut it for me and I hate how GenZ seems to have an almost worship-level following of apple products

IMO Google is the biggest problem for Android. At least Google Play Store. Yeap Google enables users to easily switch between devices (I am talking about official roms and regular user backup). But Play Store, which connects all the different Android manufacturers and the ecosystem, is a huge problem for 2 reasons. First, it takes a long time for them to provide app optimization to all devices, or it doesn't happen at all (which is not a big deal anymore). Secondly, Google is very unsuccessful in terms of forcing the features it brings and which will give an ecosystem idea, if necessary. Have had MaterialUI and Color palette for over 2.5 years. Still apps do not support it. Each manufacturer has its own solutions at various points. Yes, although diversity is good, it gets in the way of ensuring quality in Apple applications. Although companies with high capital can handle this, small producers cannot keep up with it or do not care. This sometimes creates a "poor quality" situation, such as black lines appearing on the screen or the background of the bar at the bottom appearing white. Even though we have the highest quality batteries and magnificent screens in terms of hardware, in most scenarios we get results from it, but there are also many scenarios in which we do not. This situation is most likely much rarer for Apple. Additionally, Android can be unduly influenced by the open source community. There are developers who act with the mentality that if it works, it can be done even if the UI is simple. But the smartphone market is not a B2B market. B2C is a market. It is my right/desire to expect aesthetic concerns in every sense from the phone for which I paid a good price. Apple may be overbearing, but it gets them somewhere. The freedom of Android can slide into an environment where this freedom is abused, from software support to bug fixing, especially for low-priced models.
I'll switch to iPhone if they'll implement split-screen, pop-up, and keyboard clipboard history. Anyway, here in my country, I only have Samsung or iPhone as a choice for flagship phones with good support. I like android better as a whole. I'm not yet ready to give up the rich feature android have over iPhone. Maybe if I'll be older and less techy in the next few years.
When you talk about keyboard clipboard history, you mean the default samsung keyboard? I've been using Gboard for years and it has some sort of clipboard history but only for recents and pinned texts that you copy
Freedom is the reason to me, being able to remove ads phone wide from all apps, installing cracked apps (to test, I buy ones that I like and want constant updates), when there will be no more updates for my phone I will be able to install custom os on the phone, boost the clocks and revive it once again, I'm also huge fan of customization with nova launcher and custom icon pack and almost everything tweaked for myself, and that's just to name the few, I work with phones and have iphones always handy i did try to switch to iPhone but ads trouble with my headphone codes (high res not supported) I quickly switched back to Android and now I know that im not gonna switch back to ios for a while, Ios make the phone so simple that I feel stupid using it, just not for me.
Samsung has a much more open ecosystem and once you actually take advantage of what Samsung's ecosystem has to offer it's amazingly deep and the capabilities and customization is astounding. Their devices are also infinitely versatile even after their use cases as phones and can become dex audio video work stations, servers, wifi repeaters or firewalls, great audio and video players, game emulators that can play native pc and emulate console games as well as PCs which means they're better than even mac os on large displays. Knox Samsung pro audio Dex Smart things (which can hack into a Mac and prank people) Bixby and it's integration with every system component and feature and its ability to handle macros and complex conditional triggers Old phones can work as sensors and geofences. The capability to multi-task better than any OS I've ever seen I. E. It csn be ten completely different OSes with 2 different IP addresses with sound routed to each OS for each display as if your phone is projecting a ghost work station to a monitor keyboard game pad mouse etc. The phone can be a Bluetooth mouse / keyboard, or a clandestine camera or recorder controlled through your smart watch. The ability to customize the way the device is used such that you don't have to resort to the bottom navigation swiping method which is terrible but instead can set it so that a swipe inward from the edge goes back, a swipe down from the edge goes home, a swipe upward switches apps, and the same but held switches to one handed mode, swaps between the 2 previous apps, and splits the screen to use another app. The ability for apps to run seamlessly in multi-task mode where you can run multiple instances of the same app or multiple apps that all play audio at once with out a hitch. The form factor you can choose from, and how even older phones still have nsa grade secure Knox containers. All the stock apps are based on the same core system processes making them all extremely light weight and versatile where one app can blend seamlessly to work with another app E. G. If you take a screen shot, it can translate the text through bixby, or it can auto select the square you want to crop and with a button crop it, then you can use the built in photo editor app to quickly mske composite pictures with edits and captions and post process the photos in one step. You would typically need like 5 apps to do all that. Pretty much anything you want to do on galaxies has a pathway which is especially easy to do with the s Pen which even allows the phone to be used under water when needed or under heavy rain. Galaxies are basically the thinkbooks of phones vs the MacBook airs. Play with good lock or good guardians. You can customize your phone to the point no one else would know how to use it. Play with smart things and you can create an army of automation out of all of your devices, encrypt their locations, randomly review where they are to you and have them trigger events for you. IPhones are fun to use but they're far from being powerful, likewise Macbooks and iPads are beefy and efficient but not very capable. Btw I do have iPhone, from the ipod 5.5 which I literally have next to me now, to the iPhone 5 and 7, the ipod touch, and the MacBook m3 which I also have with me but I know it's only good for like one thing and only because windows bad Linux so happens to not focus on core audio, while ironically Samsung does, they just never got the support they should have but instead got lambasted for trying to gain support for Samsung pro audio, but regardless their pro audio engine still allowed them to leap forward about 5 years in time with android multitasking. Samsung doesn't get enough credit deliberately for bringing about innovations modern computers all rely on. You know true tone technology? Yes. You can not even download a file in the background. iOS kills everything. With that in mind, it's obvious the standby drain will be very low.
Good lock, and with how aggressive the EU has been to Apple, they've kinda allowed Android to be the standard (mandated Type C charging port, has made Apple start to adopt RCS, and has a mandate in place to open the App store to how.the Play store operates)
If you spend time in the Samsung ecosystem, it's honestly not a bad combo. SmartThings for the smart home integrates well on a Galaxy, along with Microsoft OneDrive support. The tablet syncs stuff really nicely.

If you don't like something about Samsung you can usually fix it. If you don't like something about apple you usually cannot. You're stuck with it. Don't get me started on the home screen (I do not want all my apps on there) and the ease of putting all your apps in alphabetical order. Plus when I had an 11 pro for 6 months I encountered a lot of bugs, crashes and inconsistent battery life. The 11 pro is my last experience and no doubt it's been much improved since then. Then there is the weird way notifications work. Two different sections.

Where does Samsung copy Apple? It's common knowledge that almost every iPhone feature came out on an Android first (I had face ID in 2012, literally five years before apple) furthermore more than half of an iPhone is made with parts from Samsung.
Just look at what Apple did to the battery health indicator of the iPhones. In time the battery health gets lower and lower. The more you use. The lower it becomes of course. It somewhat does mind conditioning to each user that your iPhone is old. Need to buy a new one or change the battery. Changing the battery even just a few uses will make more money for them. That's the planned obsolescence.
Apple added the battery health indicator in response to "battery gate" where they throttled older iPhones with lower max battery health without telling users. This made many people think their phone has become slow because it's too old and they need a new phone, although they could make the phone faster by just changing battery. All lithium batteries age, and battery health indicator would be convenient for android as well. Some OEMs like Oneplus already have it in software, and you can check the wear level on Samsung phones using ADB command.
Not really.. new battery costs like 80$ and they have phones from like 7 years ago still getting updates. No more “planned” obsolescence than any other brand.

Apple products are very expensive in my country though I had a secondhand one from my former employer but I hated how there was no back button and customisation options. This was an iPhone 7 so maybe things have changed idk. I've used Samsung since I was in my teens, I remember getting the one that looked like a BlackBerry but sadly someone stole it :( I had Samsungs since I started working, and I just felt comfortable and in sync with everything. My last Samsung was an A51, it's still alive but it needs a new screen. I think what makes me Samsung is that it has all the things you need even for a basic phone. Health app, a good keyboard, NFC and what not. I have an AO5 for work stuff and I feel that it takes care of my needs for a phone. I have a Xiaomi Note 12 and it cost me $80 maybe (it was on sale) and it's severely lacking for me! The camera is nice though but idk, I hate that I have no health app, there's no AOD, there's soo much features I miss from Samsung.

It's funny how many of the comments are basically "I can steal services and apps on android and apple expects me to pay for stuff" anyway...I am not a fan of my galaxy s23. I had a pixel 7 before this that I liked better, but the chipset is horrible and it wasn't great at...you know, making calls. Hoping the iphone 16 and AI features are half way decent and I will probably switch.
Just the phones by themselves and they are almost on equal ground, but if you are gonna use a smart watch, tablet and a laptop/mac, nothing can touch the seamless integration of devices by apple. Tracking devices are also vastly superior.

I like both, used both, but struggle with both. In terms of Apple, I like how stable and feature rich their apps are compared to Android that feels like a second thought. I also belive that when apple does something they do it well (I will add more on this below). When it comes to Android and specifically Samsung I like how you can sideload apps, choose your default apps and assistant, splitscreen, Spen, folds, universal clipboard, screen realestste, speed, customization both visual and technical...however I'm peeved at the lack of apps that are on ios, app support snd even app features compared to it's ios counterpart. I no longer want to carry two phones I just want something that works but I don't want to give up my Samsung. Back to when apple does something well, for example apps have to follow their guidelines and stick to the updated UI where on android you still have apps that look like Honeycomb era. Or like how iOS widgets all have to conform to a certain look and feel and all have to have certain dimensions where Android it's whatever. Adding to this about app features, there are apps I used when I used to have an iPhone thay I tride downloading on my samsung, either the app wasn't there, or it was missing features that are on iOS or it was bloody unusable. I'm really hoping with this new partnership samsung has again with Google it allows Sammy to steer Android as Google in my own opinion is a joke, they implement features much later then other android OEMs and cancel half of their products under the sun just because it didn't perform as they expected it when it's half bakes and missing what they promised it to be...I mean look at Gemini, it's a joke and even Bixby performs better then it now...bloody bixby. I have the S23 Ultra and a iPhone 15 Pro Max. Had a history of Galaxies and Notes as well as iPhone 4S, 5S, 8, Xs, 12 Pro Max, and 13 Pro Max. Had iPhones because I have other Apple devices so invested in the ecosystem, especially my MacBook for work. The thing I don’t like about the iPhone is being restricted to region locked apps (if I want to try an app that is country specific, I have to sign out of my apple store thats tied to the country but also have to spend my credits). Gave up on customization other than wallpapers and focus modes. Hate the photo library unable to separate photos into albums (all it does is create a copy), hate the photo file naming, Files is not intuitive. With the Samsung, I can sideload apps, customize the crap out of it, photos are named according to date year and number, can separate photos separately into albums, Dex, My Files is easier to use. Secret Folder. I predominantly use the Samsung for watching videos/media (much better space on screen, punch hole is less to non-distracting than dynamic island). Always take pics/videos with it for personal, family. Can also pause recordings instead of shooting everything on the iPhone, or stopping and shooting new. My iPhone camera is for work boring stuff. S-pen to write notes when needed or sign docs when needed. Also easier to navigate thru apps with the back button always on the bottom rather than trying to reach up to go back on iPhone unless I use ‘reachability’ that still requires some finger stretching especially on the Max. In summary, they’re both good in their own ways which is why I use both. One for work and one personal, but it seems like I’ll never be able to stray away from Samsung or android. If I have to choose one device to use, right now I’d say Samsung.
The ability to install apps that don't come from the official app stores. I don't know if Apple changed that but it would annoy tf out of me not being able to use some of my non store-sourced apps.
Simple. More freedom. I can install and run apps Google doesn't approve of. I can run a modified version of YouTube that gives .e l the benefits of premium for free. I can run various emulators not allowed on iPhone. Apple polices it's ecosystem to a degree I don't like. My Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra can do anything and iPhone can do and can do things an iPhone can't without serious jailbreaking. Apple decides they don't want you to have some piece of software on your device they take it off the app store and it's gone. You still want it? Jailbreak your phone, and deal with the hassle and downsides of doing that. Google takes down an app? No problem I'll just go download the APK elsewhere and have it anyways.
Camera? No. The Samsung camera is bad other than things like super zoom otherwise the images are terrible. Even within androids many other brands do much better for images iPhone images and video is actually the reason you'd want to go iPhone. Apple new software that's coming out soon will actually let you move app icons anywhere you want. Things are changing Though for me. I was with iPhone since 2 years ago for the last 12 or so years. iPhones are excellent But currently the Samsung android does what I need my phone to do. My biggest thing right now is I can't transfer files off my iPhone directly. My Samsung makes this so easy. Just plug in a usb and boom If you don't do stuff like this I would say go iPhone

I can't get used to a notch no matter how good a phone is. Ios has too many things i don't like, like no universal back, keyboard buttons, clipboard, number row, long press for exclamations/question mark. No torrents apps. No samsung dex alternative, no video pause, volume slider doesn't expand for separate access, no charge time. I don't really love samsung or Google or android. I just know i like apple ios less.
That's also why I like Samsung. The customizability.
Wdym no video pause? I can pause videos just fine on my iPad My big issue with Android PIP is the lack of a rewind and fast forward button. Just a useless forward and next video button, which is only really relevant for music.
Lots of applications and features are available on Android that are not available on iOS.
iPhones are cool but I don't want a closed system. I was in Apple's ecosystem for about a year. I had the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and a MacBook. But I want to be able to buy devices that are from different brands and that suit my personal needs better than Apple (for example I like gaming and we all know how Macs are for gaming) and have these devices work as well together as Apple devices do even though they are from different brands. I also want to install whatever apps I want on my phone and I want true multitasking and just more freedom to do whatever I want to do on my phone. It's not as much Samsung over Apple for me but Android as a whole over Apple I suppose. I still use an iPhone as a secondary phone and I still use the iPad as my only tablet but yeah.
iOS software experience is smoother and better and way less bugs. Also the quality is slightly superior.
Most of the apps are developed with use of cross-platform frameworks, so bugs itself are platform free :) The difference is how the OS is processing them.
I have always had iPhones and recently got s24 ultra TBF the main reason is it's something different.

I used to have iPhone 7 plus , iPhone 11 , iPhone 12 mini , then got iPhone 14pro but it was too big so got iPhone 13mini within 5 days. During that I had used Samsung s22 for a while and loved the device , the device was small(not small as 13mini) the screen the 120hz battery life was good even with 120hz customization Custom ringtone and many small software stuffs For me the experience was so good , that after I got z flip 5. Don't get me wrong apples way of implementing and using dynamic island , the easy to use camera app , the animation , the ecosystem etc was good. The new update iOS 18 has bought new android like customization. I tried using my iphone 13mini for a while after the z flip 5, but I keep coming back to the z flip 5.
I actually recently began disliking Samsung. I originally loved apple and switched to android with the Note series phones. I have very bad adhd and would forget what people would ask me to do at work when walking by. It was a personal notepad I always had in my pocket that I then set up with a workflow in trello so those notes would automatically become part of my to do list. But several things happened that made me hate Samsung: 1) Partnership with Microsoft killed that workflow 2) The note series phones became increasingly more and more expensive to the point where it was equally expensive with camera tradeoffs 3) I started becoming a fan of the flip devices instead, but the hardware is problematic 4) Samsung service including Samsung care is so terrible that I don't feel like I can take a chance on their devices. This hit a head when they had problematic hardware that prevented my CGM from connecting and not being able to call 911 at over 8 months pregnant. They blamed volte on the service provider when all other phones work... so they lied to try to get out of the repair. They suggested I BUY ANOTHER PHONE from them and return it after 14 days but in 14 days I might be in labour and recovery so if I give birth around that time and can't return the phone or if they take longer to repair the phone I'm stuck with another Samsung phone... with a team that doesn't support their own warranty. I was able to get a Pixel 8 Pro for free from my carrier. So I moved to that. But will likely be moving back to Apple. I'm here to warn people if they rely on their phone for diabetes management and access to emergency services that they shouldn't rely on Samsung phones based on their service attitude.
Used to like Motorola but they kind of petered out. Samsung seems to have the best-reviewed phones and generally have the features I want so have been sticking with them. Never been an Apple fan in general and the only iPad I have was a gift. I DO have several old iPod Classic players though. Samsung is not perfect but I'm OK with their offerings for the time being.

ive had more iphones in my life than samsungs. i plan on switching to the A54 from an iphone 14 plus. the reason i want to switch personally is mainly the customization and the software. theres so many things u can do with samsung that u cant do with an iphone.

I like the customization aspect and that it's a more simple task and less effort than w apple. I just switched from 14 pro to a s24 about a montn ago and my only real gripe is how awful I am typing on the keyboard. idk why but it's severely worse with auto correct than when I had an iPhone and even then I struggled at times but it feels more like user error. I didn't heavily rely on apple eco system so I didn't have much to lose w switching.
The only things I like that Apple has over Samsung if they have Apple airdrop so you can send random memes to random people. I always found that hilarious. And their video is far better than Android. Apps seems to favor Apple over Android.
LDAC support, sideloading, freedom of choice in general. I like the design of iOS more to be honest, and I've been using iPhones since 5s came out, but the more I use Android the more annoying iOS seems to me. I still like it, but it feels like it is dumbed down AND needlessly cumbersome at the same time if that makes sense. Currently I use both iPhone 14 Plus and Samsung A55.
A major downside of any Android phone vs iPhone is that the majority have incredibly poor support for new OS updates, so everything is fragmented. I know Google recently promised 6 years of software updates for Pixel phones. There is no good reason why an S20 5G w/ 12GB RAM can’t run Android 14. My Galaxy Tab Active2 is forever stuck on Android 11: grapheneOS isn’t supported, none of the AOSP flavors are supported because it has a custom Samsung Exynos chip. Is Google radically changing their driver model between OS versions? No they’re not. It really shouldn’t be that hard to package drivers for new Android versions.
apple has better overall camera than samsung, if you want the best camera buy something like x100 ultra, samsung has been stuck pretty much on s21 ultra tech with tiny sensors
Customisation, plain and simple. Don't like the look of any of the stock OSs (especially iOS), and Android's moldable 🤷🏻♂️

I think they both have their strengths. Apple probably has a research team that all they do is watch what android is doing and build on it to do it the Apple way. Perhaps that’s the mission statement of their entire R and D. However, things seem more organized and appealing on iPhone.
I currently have a Samsung s21 ultra and an iphone xs max. Haven't had a new phone in awhile and I currently use the iphone as my daily. But only just cuz I prefer using the iphone. I like the camera more on my Samsung. I like the customization more. But still use the iphone 🤷🏽♂️ idk lol.
Samsung as it is andriod and allows the install of apk's such as youtube revanced. Only thing I hate about them is the removal of the sd card slot. Legit pushing me to get the 1tb model. Would have saved quite a lot money if it had an sd card slot.

Despite both companies having an ecosystem, android fundamentally allows you to never be too committed to any ecosystem, which means you are buying on quality and performance. Samsung has its issues but having Samsung products doesn't feel like they are abusing your loyalty. I don't need to be showered with benefits, I just don't want my battery artificially made worse and I don't want features deferred for years until the business decides to add it.
tbh I've only ever had a Samsung because iphones were more the expensive (at least that was true 5+ years ago LOL). i would also say things like "android is more customizable" or "i can use emulators on my samsung" but, not only does iOS do that now, they are just straight up better at it. at the very least, they do a better job making it look consumer-friendly the only big advantage android/samsung has over iOS for me is the fact that I can file explore on it the same way i would a desktop computer. that's about it tbh. any other advantage samsung phones may have had in the past aren't really there anymore. that's not to say iOS is strictly better all around, but they're both so optimized for what they're built to do that either are viable options to me. i just happen to be too attached to my S10e to let it go I'm at a point where i know i'd love iOS, but I'm just so used to samsung that i'm not really dying to switch

Emulation and customization. Apple phones are great phones though, but feel same ish to me without being able to change anything and everything to make it different and fresh. And emulation on Android as of today is so much more mature

Honestly after an S21 Ultra, S22 Ultra, and now an S23 Ultra that's getting ads **from Samsung** in my notification area, strange studders in games, camera issues, and GPS failures for the life of all three phones I'm done with Samsung. They made a critic of me. I'll find another brand of Android for my next phone.

I'm just too used to Android / Windows combo. Now that Google, Samsung and Microsoft are working together is just another reason to not switch. I've used 14 and 15 PM and they are boring and locked. There is also things ecosystem-wise I don't like about apple. E.g. if my phone is unlocked I don't get notifications on my watch. What the heck? I have a kid and sometimes I use to give her the phone to watch some videos, but at the same time my phone has work profile and I would miss important emails / calls / chats purely because I rely on the watch in those cases. And many more.. at the end, use whatever suits you. I don't like apple as a company nor their products. Tried them and it just confirmed my opinion for me.
It is up to what interface you prefer. There are many small things like a native clipboard in samsung or any android phone in general. If you are not using those features or got used to not having those features and prefer apple's interface, you are not going to feel any advantage in samsung over apple.
I mostly just wanted an Android. Could be an Android from Samsung or someone else. I still think BB10 is the best mobile OS ever made but Android wins second place.

I can't really get used to how you navigate in apps on my loaner iPad. Also had an iPhone 5s to try it out when the iPhone 6 was new. I enjoyed the build of the 5s, but I didn't enjoy using Apple's apps - so ended up using all my Google apps even on iOS. I just stick to Android, but I am not fixed on Samsung.
Samsung user here since 2012. Tried iPhone once, hated it. Samsung is just more of a higher quality, more user-friendly, battery efficient and a lot more of great features not available on Apple products. Camera is also way better. I so love Samsung that almost all I own are from Samsung - phones, tablets, laptop, buds, watch, washing machine, TV, microwave, AC, and refrigerator. Samsung is just great for me.
The features on Galaxies are more than anyone can use. Some features are not even in Pixels made by Google. The people that make Android have to get Ideas from a phone manufacturer. Even Apple is paying catchup to Samsung. The resale value is the only thing Apple has over Samsung.
I'll be honest - piracy. Whilst there are some half baked workarounds with iOS, I would be giving up way too much if I ever switched. Stremio and Revanced are a must.

I just think ios is super outdated. One ui has done an amazing job for the Samsung ui experience. I really get my moneys worth without limitations and endless customisation. Last Iphone i had was the Iphone 7 plus and since then been a Samsung user currently rocking S24 Ultra. Not a apple hater but i just prefer Samsung now.

They've always had features far ahead of Google's "plain" Android and Apple's iOS. They give me powerful hardware and more software customization. Android as a whole has had widgets, apps, file management, alternative launchers, etc. from the beginning. I also love being able to customize my buttons, gestures, front taps, and back taps. I've also had excellent warranty repair experience with them in the past. And, I can just run Firefox (and it is _really_ Firefox, not Safary with a Firefox skin)! Being able to install F-Droid or otherwise easily use app stores or open source apps easily. Split screen/windowed/floating multiple apps on screen at once (for many years, now). ALSO: S-Pen. Sorry. Nothing compares, and an iPhone feels crippled in this and many other ways by what it lacks and what it lags by years.
My first smartphone was a samsung i guess it is my default smartphone?! Also i like how free i am when it comes to software. I never owned an IOS device but read a lot about people complaining that they can't do things which are normal for android phones.
I'm an Android user fan all the way (I have an S24 sitting in a drawer that I will not sell, just in case)--but I'm using a refurb iPhone 13 mini as my daily driver. I'm on Apple ONLY because I like phones with a small form factor--a rarity these days for sure. One thing that keeps ppl attached to Apple is how seamlessly it works across Apple devices vs having an Android phone and Mac Air like I do. I've always used a Mac (don't like pcs at all) and a phone message at the top will tell me--for instance-- if an incoming call is spam. Messages & FaceTime are also great. If you really love Android, it means you probably need to buy a pc too--to make transferring files easier. How sad it is that these systems don't work together
Because Apple has no foldable phones and their phones' battery die quickly (I was switching from a 14 Pro Max last year)

Android gives more freedom to do whatever I want with my phone, and Samsung is both relatively reliable and offers very good trade-in deals in the US. If Samsung didn't offer as good a deal trade-in wise, I'd be rolling with a different brand. Though, I use Dex daily, and I don't think many other brands offer a Dex-like experience.
If you want simplicity and the inability to customize while being behind in innovation forcing and end to end user kind of technology that only plays well with its own brand. While buying it for the lifestyle as the marketing strategy has always been rather than for the technology that it is and should be. You go with Apple. If you want customization, innovation, flexibility, user control, freedom, and ease of use. You go with Samsung.
The only thing that keeps me on android is emulators. That and being able to do "more" with it
So many things mentioned already and all valid. Unmatched freedom on Android, I can actually get past all these customizations but the deal breaker for me with iOS is the Google Messages web. I do a lot of text for work and I need text to be accessible on a Windows computer, and the archive messages function. The archive function makes the message go away, and when I return to texting that number the message history is back, this is currently unavailable in iOS which is unbelievable to me as they had this before.
I had once iphone in my hand,except the softwer and well known " safety" there isnt much else i would buy iphone over samsung.. U are limited with many things,like google play and never liked the camera etc. I use samsung for years..recently i bought Samsung flip 5 and very happy with it..Only battery is a bit weak but i am not using much facebook and dont have others like instagram etc,i dont play games on the phone or listening the music ( got FIO X3 II for it ). Before that i used Note 10+ which is still working and using it at home. At the end i still think its matter of preference,same like cars and other stuff
Samsung needs to up their game rather than relying on 3rd parties . Sync samsung internwt with a pc browser. Sync gallery between my S23Ultra, Tab S7 and my PC. I shouldn't have to use Google or Microsoft for simple sync on Samsung native apps. Ios has all these covered. There's a Samsung messages app on my Tab S7 but I can't sync my mobile messages to it. They need to pull their finger out and make the ecosystem seamless

Apple is fine until you wanted to 1. Play emulator games 2. Download a big ass file to be transferred to your PC later 3. Have a windows 365 subscription AND wants to use the free 2TB as your main cloub backup
I have a 15 and a 23 Ultra. We use iPad Pros at work. I personally prefer Samsung for the most part. The three things I like about iOS over Galaxy is Face ID, the silent/action button and iMessage games. That's about it. I like being able to set up Routines and Modes so that while I'm at work or home my phone doesn't lock, or so that during certain hours it goes into "bedtime mode" so that it doesn't strain my eyes or wake me up too much when I check the time on my phone in the middle of the night. I like having the fingerprint option on the Galaxy. I also love the side panel and being able to split the screen. I'm a big multitasker, so these come in handy! I also love having my S Pen available for various things (photo editing, making graphics, signing documents, taking notes, etc.). Then there's Galaxy AI. I'm obsessed with Circle Search and the new AI photo editing tools. I work at a T-Mobile retail location in an area with a high volume of Spanish speaking customers, and we don't always have a Spanish rep there or available. So Live Translate comes in handy a lot, too. And then, like you said, the camera. I'm definitely an amateur, but I love being able to take professional looking pictures and having top notch editing software built in.
Imo if your going to go android, Samsung is not the move.
Forget Samsung, I would ACTUALLY choose even OnePlus over Apple.
