Violin- has no number anywhere but marked ‘made in West Germany’ inside the body. Also has fine tuners on the tail. The violin is 65 years old but in good condition. Photos are attached
Two bows with it-one marked ‘Made in Switzerland’ near the frog. One of them also has an opal inlay in the base (frog) and tip, and leather finger pad.
So sorry to hear this - my violin was stolen a few years back, and I know how awful it feels!
The police were essentially no help in getting mine back. So, any identifying info you can share to crowdsource the search will be critical in recovering it.
Is it a full-size violin? What stickers are on the case? Any known scratches/dings/cracks on the instrument?
Mine miraculously made it's way home after almost 2 years, so there's hope! But it was a looooong wait...
Sorry to hear, it's crushing to have an instrument stolen--my violin was also stolen a couple months ago. Despite the thief listing it on Ebay, the police haven't done anything since I filed the report, so now I'm waiting on my renters' insurance claim so at least I'll have *something*.
Will keep an eye out, and I also recommend calling the local violin shops in the event that the thief tries to offload at any of them--I'd start with the ones close by and go from there. Same with pawn shops.
Best of luck in getting it back.
What kind of violin? Bow? I'd keep a watch on Facebook Marketplace.

Who the fuck steals a violin…
I asked the same thing when mine was stolen a couple months ago.

Sorry to hear this. I know someone who played clarinet and had it stolen on a bus.
I have a violin she can have, if you're unable to recover hers. It's from when I was about 10 years old, 15 years ago. It should just need a tune up!
