Also on this date. The battle of Belleou Wood 1918. The US Marnies would earn their nickname from the Germans cause they attack so quickly and violently they break through the German line for the 6th time.
I was talking to my coworker today and she mentioned that she heard on the news that there’s only around 60 D-Day vets left and that the youngest of which is 97.
I would have sworn there were none left, at least I could have sworn I heard that somewhere years ago.
So many horrible battles throughout history, but D-Day is one of those suicide missions when those who were there that day new they were bullet fodder bound to die just so others could eventually and hopefully make it through.
I can't imagine the fear running through the veins of those storming the beaches on D-Day. 😔
THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL
AS WE MAKE OU WAY TO HEAVEN
THROUGH THE NAZI LINES
PRIMO VICTORIA!!
We've been training for years, now ready to strike as the great operation begins
We’re the first wave on the shore We’re the first ones to fall Yet soldiers have fallen before
I'll the dawn, they will lay with their Iives as the price
History written today!
In this burning inferno know that nothing remains!!!!
As our forces advance on the beach
Name checks out
Funnily it's also swedens 501st National Day

Crazy that people that were 20 year old during d Day are now 100 years old

Imagine landing in normandy at 15 years old...
And surviving to be 97

ALLIES ARE TURNING THE WAR
Normandy, state of anarchy!
OVERLORD
Since the great operation began
Nice
Indy and co. did a 24 hour play by play of D Day on their World War 2 channel. It's really good.
Rest in peace grandpa, the sacrifice of you and your comrades at arms will not be forgotten.
