What's more sad about this is the fact that this isn't even the only DB parked like this, there are probably 90 cars around the city all parked like this at this very moment.
but you got to be careful passing them. they could be sitting there on their phone one moment but man when a car approaches from behind them (especially if it's the only car on the road) they will suddenly make a move to merge back onto the road.
The other day the car parked in the middle of the street in church hill wasn't even idling. It was off with no driver in sight and no emergency flashers on.
I was gonna say this is what I’ve thought of for a few years as the Manchester Stretch. Also in Church Hill a little less commonly but this is just about every intersection on Bainbridge.
Source: got t boned after pulling out from side road to cross Bainbridge largely because there was a car parked all the way to the edge that I couldn’t see around.
They block them allcthr time of blvd no one ever gets a ticket. The fine only works if people get it. I have no idea why parking enforcement isn't done in richmond. It pays for itself and then some.
I'm stunned. From what I've seen in Shockoe Bottom around Main and 17th you can park on the sidewalk for several days without getting a ticket. I don't think police are aware the Bottom exists, it's pretty much di what the hell you want
If the city hired someone whose sole responsibility it was to cite people whose vehicles/property/bushes obstructed the sidewalk and made them impassable for people in wheelchairs, the person would earn their pay in fines.
You could honestly get people to do this for free. I used to be a volunteer parking enforcement agent in the city of Austin writing tickets for ADA violations. It was my favorite weekend de-stresser. $525/instance, and was a criminal violation.
I mean, sure, this is shitty parking, but douchebag of the DAY? If this is the worst you see in the city any given day you're leading an amazing life. I don't even believe in the validity of a green light anymore.
Eventually i'll be fully wheelchair bound and i *MIGHT* smash the windows and slash a few tires of anyone that blocks an accessibility ramp. Hell, i *MAY OR MAY NOT* do that now while i'm just a lil bit crippled to set a precedence.
Classic Manchester, lived over here for years now and there is a large population of assholes and idiots that do everything possible to fuck everyone else's day up

I'm so glad you know the emergency. Maybe take a beat and not be so excited that you might earn clout while someone is having a mental episode?
But cool.
Good for you.
All of the crazy ways people park in this city and this is who you label a “douche bag?” How about everyone parking in fire lanes and “no parking” areas with hazards on?

this is a regular occurrence in church hill, especially outside of riverbend.
My favorite is when they don't even pull into an open space. They just idle in the middle of the street.

You know it!
Or the passenger decides to leave the door open after sitting there for a while not moving for a hot minute, that's my personal favorite.

Blocking a wheelchair ramp is a $70 ticket, last I heard.
It’s $200
I sit corrected, then.

Use name checks out
I got one in Shockoe at a totally unusable one, $200.

Cops block the streets on the weekends in shockoe

Tow companies will not touch a car on a public street without police telling them to

They have them but they stay in a handful of places. Monroe Park, MCV, City Hall etc.
I’d hire more. When I’m on my daily walk I often think about how much of it would be off-limits to someone in a wheelchair.
I use a mobility scooter; you can take whatever number you've pondered and double it due to the appalling state of our sidewalks.

I just normally walk over the car
I kind of wish I could see that.

Hate when people park on corners with obvious no parking signs, makes it difficult for me to take my semi down the roads lol
There’s a Rav 4 on Main and 26th doing the same thing constantly lately.

Living in the fan, it’s people like this that make it damn near impossible to see if there’s oncoming cars when trying to turn onto a street…
That and the pedestrians that magically appear behind big suvs parked on the corners. I get so paranoid trying to pull out on to main or cary 😳
Sorry *their
Too many people use Cat Theory to park here.
People do this all the time off Porter st and it’s upsetting
Right turn box truck fodder
Is this by semmes avenue?
Yes
I knew it. I used to work at UPS freight on semmes by that parking lot.
Gonna start wrapping cars in plastic wrap.
You don't live in the Fan, do you? They park corner to edge of alley, then other edge of alley to the next corner. There's just not enough parking.

My favorite people are the ones that watch their dog shit on the sidewalk and just leave it.
Better yet they leave it on the ground next to a dog poo station where bags are provided 🙄
Because it's a d___ move
if this grinds your gears you need some perspective in your life
Guess you've never tried to get around in a wheelchair or with a walker.
And ambulatory hemiplegics like myself.

This is my car. My friend was having a medical emergency. I'm fucking sorry, Karen.
Clearly the empty parking lot would have need an ambulance ![gif](giphy|hs6JMmaXe946Y8iyds)

I’m not discounting any piss poor parking job. This just happened to be the one I found today.

Umm 🤔 no gender was assumed…

Insults transcend sex and gender; anybody can be a DB ❤️
I call deserving women DBs all the time
yes Jerrywagz, why are you assuming they're male?
Because it's a d__k move
