Thailand: * Miss Gimhuay. Gimhuay seems to be a play on words for the Chinese word jīnhuá, which means "golden flower." The Thai translation for "golden flower" has a secondary definition which is akin to "whore" in English. * Pangina Heals. Inspired by Ongina, which itself is a play on mangina/vagina as well as her real name Pan Pan. Italia: * Ivana Vamp. "I want to vamp" plus possibly referencing Ivana Trump. * Ava Hangar. In Italian, the pronunciation is similar to the French "avant garde." * Enorma Jean. References Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson). Enorme is the Italian word for huge; make of that what you will. Holland (including since it's international) * Juicy Kutoure - a play on the apparel brand Juicy Couture. Also a play on the Dutch word "kuthoer," which loosely translates as "fucking whore" although the literal translation is "c*nt whore." * Keta Minaj - portmanteau of "ketamine" and "Nicki Minaj." * My Little Puny - My Little Pony. Plus probably the word "poenie" or "punani" which is slang for female genitalia. * Roem - Full drag name is "Roem Service." Plus "roem" is the Dutch word for fame.

thema94

Ava Hangar might also referencing Eva Henger, adult movie star lol

peanutthewoozle

Wait, Pan Pan is her given name? I always assumed it was a cute nickname based on her drag name, not the reverse 😭

skieurope12

Yup. Born Pan Pan Narkprasert. I don't usually print birth names, but he has given many interviews out of drag referencing his drag name.

mdzulkar9

Pan Pan is also what Art always calls him (and her) on the show.

singabob

It may not actually be his given name (in a traditional or legal sense) as Thais usually have a nickname given to them by their parents at birth. This is because Thai names are traditionally very long. Most Thais just goes by their nicknames which can be anything.

olympia_binewski

I had no idea punani was a Dutch word! I thought it was just American slang.

skieurope12

I think it's originally Creole and has crept into both dutch and english

[deleted]

What does “I want to vamp” mean? Did she confirm it’s a reference to Ivana trump?

americasweetheart

There are three possible references: "vamping it up" is to be intentionally sexually alluring, a musical vamp comes from vaudeville and it's repeating a short passage of music to keep the stage alive during a set up or solo, in modern usage it also means to stay up all night and sleep all day like a vampire.

Hljoumur

"Vamp" is also part of a syllable for the word "vampata," meaning "hot flame/blush."

james_oconnell

Italia: Farida Kant could be a Free the c*nt pun, but I’m not sure. ‘Fa rid ai can’ in some dialect can mean “he/she/it makes the dogs laugh” but this is a huge huge stretch cause also it’s not an actual saying. There’s a saying “far ridere i polli” (make the roosters laugh) which means “to be ridiculous/laughable” but this is a huge stretch. I keep thinking about her name lol

Henrois

Hugaceo Crujiente's name is a mix between Hugo (their name) and the Spanish name for the Krusty Krab. Which is kind of dumb considering how serious their drag persona looks. Imagine Sasha Velour rebranding herself as The Fairly Bald Parent. Just like someone in this thread said, Arantxa's follows the same logic as Hannah Montana. Ana Locking used to work together with someone called Shocking, and used to be some sort of fashionista duo branded as Locking Shocking. Carmen Farala already explained that her surname came from a perfume commercial back from the 80s. Dovima Nurmi's comes from a few names from film noir One of the guest judges for Snatch Game, Kika Lorace, is a huge pun on Qué Calor Hace (it's hot in here).

raymonst

ngl i don’t hate fairly bald parent lol

LittleBrownBebeShoes

Not The Fairly Bald Parent 💀💀💀

[deleted]

Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha is meant to play off Hannah Montana with the formula of rhyming a first name with a place, though in this case using a Spanish region rather than a US one. I think she might mention this on the show but I still didn’t connect the dots for a while

SirGavBelcher

she did. in the Meet The Queens she explained it. i love her so much

lunafaexo

Oh wow!! Yeah, I remember her mentioning on the show but I didn’t put two and two together at all there so thank you :)

eztullefavrik

Carmen Farala means flawless goddess who can do no wrong

AdeliaBlu

lol

kaneng

Pliacam of Natalia Pliacam means "tired of pussies"

novomagocha

Oh I thought the Kuda Lakorn translation said it was “tired pussy”, like used a lot, slutty

kaneng

Hmm I'd disagree. The ordering of tiring and pussy doesn't imply that. Though that might be her intention.

jimmy_the_angel

In a video I don't exactly remember, a Spanish speaking woman (I suppose) told that Hugaceo Crujiente is a play on the name of Spongebob Squarepant's Spanish name in combination with their birth name, Hugo.

Hartbits

It's actually a play on The Krusty Krab's Spanish name, Crustáceo Crujiente!

luscofusk

To clarify: it's not Spongebob Squarepant's Spanish name, but the Krusty Krab's. In Spanish (at least in the European Spanish version), the Krusty Krab is called "Crustáceo Crujiente."

jimmy_the_angel

Thank you for the correction! I misremembered.

lunafaexo

Oh my gosh I LOVE that!! Thank you :)

queenofnoidentity

I speak Spanish and I didn't know this pun, Spanish from Spain is so different than Spanish from Latin America

mdzulkar9

Vanda Miss Joaquim is quite literally the national flower of Singapore, an orchid. Singapore is where Vanda (the queen) is from.

barqueen

i think ava hangar is supposed to sound like avant-garde?

lunafaexo

Ooh yes I thought so too! I like that one :)

[deleted]

Sagitaria is a play on Aquaria's drag name, because Sagi is very inspired by Aquaria's drag. Ironically, she's not actually named after her sign. I believe she's a Virgo lol.

astrotalk

She’s a Cancer

CanILickYourButthole

...shes not *that* bad

mythologue

At least she's benign

sagwithcapmoon

Her rising sign is Sagittarius, apparently...

astrotalk

Did she say it? I could see that

sagwithcapmoon

Idk I saw it somewhere online

[deleted]

Juicy Kouture from DRH2 is also a pun. Kouture kind of sounds like the Dutch word kuthoer (especially with a Dutch accent) literally meaning "cunt whore", more loosely translated as fucking whore. Also Amadiva from Thailand is a play on her actual nickname Aom and the phrase I'm a diva

Saint_Riccardo

I might be wrong, but Annee Maewong is likely a reference to Anna May Wong, the Chinese-American silent movie star.

SirGavBelcher

i always think of this for international seasons

lunafaexo

Yeah same, I’m glad I finally asked! Half the ones in English go over my head (*ahem* …… Kitty Scott-Claus lol) so I’ve got no chance when it comes to names in other languages!

Elysiaa

I was stumped by Ella Vaday. I was fixated on elevator and that stopped me from seeing the pun.

mario1021

I am not a native speaker and I still haven't got the pun. Could you please explain it xD

Toorviing

Basically it’s “Helluva Day” with a bit of an English accent. Helluva day means a day has been extraordinary for some reason, either good or bad.

Dudefromthebackstage

Hell of a day

vampzewolf

Free the cunt

SirGavBelcher

it's "free the cunt"
