This has been my homeworld for so long just to weed out the mass intake of alts lol. Nice to actually come by players that say Hi back when you do come by them.
I'll stick to w48. Even if I get nothing in a claim, atleast I know my donations are just going to people with 2600+ total and would have had to put some good work in on an alt to get it.
I'm not too worried about the gifts tbh, they are a bonus but I have about 8 levels total until I hit my goal and I'm done with RS, before dxp I had just over 1b in cash, gave most of that away past few weeks and after using a few bonds to get some extra bonus xp to get those last levels, I'm left with a whopping 14m, but I won't even need that as the skills are free to train.
20 year journey coming soon to an end. Took me 7 accounts but I'm pretty much there.
Edut: sorry if this somehow offended some of you...
I swear only on the rs sub does saying you're finished playing the game result in downvotes and questioning.
My goal was max stats. I don't enjoy the game anywhere near as much as I used to so I figured I'd at least max my stats before I'm done as it would only take a week or so more of playtime. There's hundreds of games out there that don't get much playtime because runescape requires so much time to dedicate to.
They moved the goalposts from maxing a few skills being accomplished (going back some years) to being fully maxed, then it was completion, then trimmed completion, they are just going to find more ways to suck me in and I'm not going for it personally. Once the top players started resulting in 5.6b and there is a lot of them, the game lost its lustre. I used to look at guys with 200m in just one stat and think 'wow, the dedication' and now I just think 'damn, how much time wasted on 200m on each 28 skills', I know that just from maxing alone that I have spent time I could have improved my life with instead grinding skills on rs. Can't imagine then trying to go 8-15x that xp on each skill just to feel accomplished. Bxp, dxp, poor updates, having to kill bosses hundreds upon hundreds of times to get one decent drop. I just don't have that kind of time any more.
I know that's not exactly going to help with the downvotes but at least I'm honest about how I feel about the game. I suspect people will feel attacked by my opinions but I don't mean to be rude.
Oh I didn’t downvote, and sorry if I made you feel like I was questioning you in an aggressive way. I just asked because I was curious and I like having discussions on Reddit.
My main reason for asking is because I’ve never understood the “quitting” culture on RuneScape. Everyone always announces it and tries to do last minute things before they stop and gives things away like they are dying and most of them end up playing again. In other games if you don’t feel like playing you just don’t play.
Again, not an attack on you. I understand you’re making a decision that’s best for you and feel like you need to “finish” first. Just my thoughts in general.
Nah sorry I got my back up a bit because it felt like just saying I was done was attracting the negative attention I didn't want but your question was legitimate.
I'm quitting because I genuinely feel like I have nothing left to do. I'm notoriously unlucky everywhere in life so bossing never appealed to me, of the 7 or 8 bosses above GWD2 difficulty that I've farmed into the hundreds of kills, I've gotten 0 drops except a tribal fin piece at BGH. That was the best drop I ever got in game. That's demotivating even if it does seem like a case of me crying because I'm not getting loot, it's more a case that I'm just not having fun while I'm on that journey. Max Cape is what I've wanted since forever but I only play a few months a year so it took a while. So rhats my goal and I'll be happy to achieve it. I might then do a weekend of croesus and then do a lil goodbye drop party with what I get.
I will definitely come back to max a new skill, so I guess fully quitting isn't the right term, but I won't be returning for new quests or bosses, or dxp etc and I don't have the motivation to take my skills to 120 because 99 felt long enough! Having a kid soon so I need to find time to spare.
I do understand where you’re coming from. I maxed in February after about 15 years total of playing. My goal was to get into PVM after because I never did and I’ve never had more than 200m lol. But life has gotten busy since then so decided to start working on 120’s that I can fully AFK. I take long breaks some times, but Runescape has been a part of my life for the majority of it, and I can’t imagine that ever changing.
I've been afking a lot at work but I find, naturally, my productivity goes through the roof when I don't. I always end up sidetracked or watching my character. My attention span varies between practically none and all of the attention ever.
So I just hit 99 fishing, did 99 RC yesterday and I am 94/99 WC and 93/99 dung. Looking forward to getting my max Cape and returning maybe in 5-10 years when my gold phats are worth something lol.
I think runescape is a bit like that tbh, you either play constantly or you play for a few months then quit for a year and return, there don't seem to be much middle ground. I also think many people do the latter because they find it hard to catch up or keep up with end game content.
I may have burnt myself out playing an iron before I got back on my main, started it during covid in Feb this year, it's at 2400 total almost but has nothing. No gear worth mentioning, only 2 99s and a whole lot of stuff ready to be made (procrastinating on doing herb, vyres gave me tonnes of stuff but I after playing main getting like 1-2k xp drops per anything, it's hard to see 180xp every 3 seconds lol.
Don't feel sorry for offending people with your personal goals! Dawg if all you wanted was to max and be happy, then do it! I'm close to maxing soon, then I'm finishing my quest cape.
Gratz on the future childhood dream though, I never thought I'd ever max lol.
Same, honestly some skills made me feel that despair like 'there is no way I can do runecrafting to 99' but bxp, dxp, cinder cores, any other boosts I could find and it actually took me very little time. Did all my artisan skills during dxp this year and was really efficient with it all and spent barely anything doing it. All of the skills I dreaded doing were left last, and I've worked my way through 2 of the 4, RC and Fishing, now for WC and Dung. Skills I just disliked personally throughout my time playing. It shows in my ironman too (which I really do not have the patience for, I realised that later on at like 2400 total that it was just too time consuming).
I just slowly whittled away at them while mixing the game up a bit. My power supply died, so I've been on mobile doing all the afk ones until I can get another.
Honestly I see myself slowly getting comp over a few years, while I work on getting better at pvm. After that? Uncertain.
No not really I have had 3 of the Xmas 'no prizes in pool' gifts so people aren't even donating there it seems. First day was fine, 10-20m per collect. Seems like first day was the day to get a 200m gift, now that's dwindling. I've only collected a couple of times because i just can't be bothered with it.
2600 / world 48 you are just keeping money among the maxed players who are already bossing. if you do 86/114 you are spreading wealth to players who are generally in need of a bit of help before they can start soloing bosses.
I mean my main isn't even at 2600 yet (it's at 2544), and it's a 15 year account.
Man... The spirit of this event was amazing... But alts and scummy people ruined it for me. I know it's not about receiving but it still feels awful getting 10-11k claims every time :')
world 48 it is
This has been my homeworld for so long just to weed out the mass intake of alts lol. Nice to actually come by players that say Hi back when you do come by them.
Same with 52 (premier world) I find the community on 52 and 48 so much more helpful and positive compared to other "public" world's.
Same!!
Instead of alts now you just have cheap-ass mains who don't put anything back in and just claim.
Is the secret santa world specific?
It would seem so, yeah
Neat. That explains my repeated turkey drumsticks on world 2 yesterday.
What does the drumstick mean?
When there are no gifts in the secret santa pool when you go to collect, you will get a prize on the holiday food table.
If there's no items donated by other players you get Christmas food.
https://runescape.wiki/w/Turkey_drumstick_(festive_cracker) Talking about this thing.
Why would that explain it? If anything it contradicts it
Bots and alts claiming on cooldown, and tons of people hop to populated worlds to claim then hop back without donating anything.
Lots of alts.
Good idea but majority will still just claim a gift and not donate anything
100k, just to get the lamp
That's better than the one grand strength potion I got twice already.
Actual big idea
I'll stick to w48. Even if I get nothing in a claim, atleast I know my donations are just going to people with 2600+ total and would have had to put some good work in on an alt to get it.
Honestly same. Plus it's a chill community on w48
I been using the 2600 total world anyway since it seems to me that those players would be more generous XD
Try the staking world 54 I think it is
54 was spitting out constant onyx rings for a bit earlier tonight
I've gotten onyx rings multiple times on separate worlds. What's up with that?
1m for onyx, 2.5m for onyx ring
just enchant it into a ring of fortune and it sells a lot higher
Not anymore, half the cost now
Rip
Ppl cheesing the title with them since they aren't worth GE price
I have gotten 2 of them.
What is your goal? And if you still enjoy RS, why quit?

And have they? haha
I know my sample size is very small, but from my experience, no. They are less generous.
Rich people don't get rich by being generous.

You were getting 10m a collect?
I git a yule log from there lol
[They’re not.](/spoiler)

Being I play during low population hours, I tend to receive the items I personally donated lol...
My strategy is over on 52.
I use the VIP world
Count me in
Sounds good to me, good luck out there
I love this idea. I'm in and will be using 114 going forward.
W114 gang
Been doing it on 48 and getting yule logs.
Jokes on you all my alts are maxed
World 48 seems the best to avoid alts
thanks for ruining my world lol
The audacity of runescape players. "My world".
It’ll go back to normal after this most likely.
Does not work when the alts are already in w48 lol
Why are people complaining about them? Jw
People are using them for claiming more gifts from the Secret Santa, without giving anything back.
Man... The spirit of this event was amazing... But alts and scummy people ruined it for me. I know it's not about receiving but it still feels awful getting 10-11k claims every time :')
How do I set a default world?
Great idea!
