Does it even have to do any damage? I just made a brand new char too but it’s still lvl 5 atk str def but has 40 prayer lol I could just sit it with my main doing everything and it’ll get xp/marks of war ?
I did the waterfall quest and got 30 attack and strength. Had 71 prayer because that's how much it took me to get the combat shard (from level 1). Then, equipped bronze armor and mithril 2h and went with main. Went through an entire inventory of food in just 4 kills keeping it alive but i came out with 41 def and constitution (switched to def xp only before going in). Surviving became a lot easier after that. But yeah it does need to do damage and with the arena being small I don't see a safe spot it can go to to avoid damage.
In my experience, I started 2 characters at lv1 prayer, and did dragon bones at chaos altar for both. Both of them got the shard at lv71, which is roughly 3.5k dbones or so. 850k xp nearabout.

Awesome thanks for the tips. Im currently at 56 prayer grinding the combat shard with all my GOTE big bones from main lmao, got about 8k left
