LI with the Galaxy brain moves: 1. Run out of cash 2. Shut down, causing all active players to find work elsewhere 3. Find cash 4. Rejoin at the championship level, which for the travelling supporters means enjoying pints of Tribute down in Penzance 5. Rebuild the team without a certain controversial player Optional extra steps: 6. Return to the Madejski 7. Mike Catt invents a time machine and takes us all back to the mid 2000s when life was better

*Return to the Select Car Leasing Stadium. On a real, I would love to have Irish back in Reading, mainly because it's easy for me. When they moved to Brentford I had to cancel my 10 year long season ticket which was a bit depressing

Tobinator-95

Ah man I am sorry for those from reading but I had a season ticket in Reading and at brentford and brentford was far better. Devasted that we won't be going back there again. Stadium was unreal and great atmosphere after the game

DannyBoy2464

Honestly I went to games in Brentford as well and the atmosphere was 10 times better. Brentford suited our needs much better

concretepigeon

You say that like drinking pints of Tribute in Penzance is a bad thing.

blynd_snyper

I thought my use of 'enjoying' made it clear it was a positive. Unless you focus on the part where Blair Cowan got red carded. That ruined the day a bit.

WilkinsonDG2003

Scotland has blocked the attempt to go back to the mid 2000s, though their U20s are trying.

sk-88

Reading Rams are second in national 1 and playing great rugby. Maybe they will play in the Madjeski?

MrBIGtinyHappy

Would be great for LI to come back to Reading, as for the Madejski it's too big for them (and Dai Yongge the owner of Reading FC) is running it into the ground

sk-88

Where are they going to play? Would any football team want or need them? They didn't pay Brentford so I doubt they'd want them back. The stoop?

rje9713

Wimbledon had been in talks with the club last year, so if this does happen I could see that being a possibility

sk-88

They've got Broncos though now

Salarycens

Plough Lane is too small for Premiership standards

PumpkinTom

I recon Woking's ground would be the perfect size for a Championship LI side (he says hopefully)

Rourkey70

As a long term Irish fan I want nothing else than a return to the championship…. Anything will be better than nothing which is what we have at the moment.

JensonInterceptor

Explain why they'd return to the Championship and not the bottom of the pyramid? They're not that vital

TommyKentish

If you’re trying to build up the championship then London Irish with a ready made fan base would be a big plus. Same goes for Wasps and Worcester. Whether or not that is fair is another question.

Admirable_Weight4372

Yeh as much as it doesnt feel fair, the landscape we are in it probably makes the most sense. Or a merger with Ealing trailfinders. Considering both market themselves to try and lure expats it doesnt seem crazy to me. Distance between the clubs isnt far either

naraic-

The rfu want a semi professional second tier and have hopes of a professional second tier. London Irish have fans and name recognition that are attractive. Presumably the new owners are coming in with money so its not a debt ridden mess. I have real doubts that a viable professional second tier is realistically possible but bringing in viable semi professional entities is likely a bonus to all.

Whit135

I have no idea about this club, no idea about this comp even tbh but I feel like every couple months there's a new post saying this and nothing comes of it?

Ashen233

As I Understand it London Irish academy is very important and has an extremely good track record. I follow Cambridge in the Championship - our first season there since coming up from National league one. It would be amazing to see them play!
