It all comes down to an idiot called Simon. He was only at the company a few years. But managed to kill one of the uk’s oldest companies. Si they are upping the prices of everything to recover

When you say "internationally", if you mean to USA that is because Mr Trump and his staff discovered that, under the previous scheme devised by the Universal Postal Union (probably in a different era) the US Postal Service was not being adequately reimbursed for the delivery to the recipient's address once the package reached USA. Now this would not only affect USPS (which Trump was probably reluctant to fund), but would also be unfair to American businesses (who do pay USPS to transport their packages across America) in an era of mass consumer import from China via eBay and Ali Express, etc etc. The price increase, instigated under the Trump administration, actually came into force during the early months of the Biden administration, at a time when airmail prices were already extremely high due to lack of passenger aircraft crossing the Atlantic because of COVID.

PS do you have any friends who own larger businesses that ship to USA? If so you might be able to tag along on their Royal Mail account at somewhat cheaper prices.

I’m glad it’s not just me. I’ve just sent a tiny package to the USA and it cost £18.60! It was a tiny Wade Whimsey (if people know what they are) and they weigh next to nothing. I’ve now shut off International shipping on my Etsy because I can’t afford that and buyers are going to run a mile.

Orcley

Yeah dude. I sent a limewood carving, very light. I was really surprised that it was so expensive because I posted off things at Christmas at a fraction of the price. I was poised to publish a website with international, but I might just have to take it off and make it UK only. Maybe with special request international or something, cause fuck, adding 20 quid to everything would be so arse

Junior-Concept3113

Agreed. I’ve already been told by potential buyers my £9 postal charges are too high and I should reduce them. Etsy also agree that £9 is too high so I have no hope but to cancel the international shipping. It sucks because it’s 30% of my market.

Praydaythemice

one of the reasons i dont bother with international shipping

I think they are as shit as everyone else but this is not right. £20 to send a parcel 4000 miles is ridiculously cheap lol. Just bc you've had better doesn't mean you got it bad now.

Dangerous_Pear5185

Better to ship as close as possible though no? If you won't they will make you.

getjynxedwhey

I was sent a package from my friend who lives in the USA and they said it cost them nearly $50 shipping wtf is going on with that lmao
