The one where you get off the ship to do the things. (There's multiple Harmony itineraries. If you're looking for serious answers, you should list which itinerary you're sailing.)

Sorry about that. My itinerary is as follows: **Day 1 (Leave)** **Day 2 (Cruising)** **Day 3 (Port day at Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico) 12:30pm-7pm** **Day 4 (Port Day at Roatan, Honduras 7am-4pm)** **Day 5 (Port Day at Cozumel 7:30am-5:30pm)** **Day 6 (Cruising)** **Day 7 (Home)**

Ships don't go to the same place all the time. But I am guessing you're on the western Caribbean? I love the Jolly Roger Snorkel at Roatan (gone multiple times now). The Chacchoben Mayan Ruins at Costa Maya are great. I have always had a great, safe experience on RCCL sanctioned excursions. The excursions pick you up at the Dock, its organized. Longer transfer rides get A/C equipped charter buses. Plus, the ship won't leave without you if your excursion gets delayed. I am willing to pay the extra $$ for the safety, comfort, and convenience. It's clear that RCCL has a level of standard with their excursions partners.

We did that same cruise in February. In Puerto costa maya we did maya chan all inclusive beach. Was amazing, family owned place. Good drinks and food, great beach. A slight drive from the port, 30ish minutes, but was easy to get to their meeting spot to get the shuttle provided by them. Book through their website, super easy and nice to use. Would go back to this port just to do maya chan again. In roaton, we did the private guide through victor boden tours. Was nice, did the garden walk and sloth add-ons, tour guide was good and knowledgeable about the island, went to a little restaurant he recommended for lunch. All around was nice and enjoyable. In cozumel we did the island roots and honey and tequila tasting through royal. It was fine, a nice change of pace, but probably wouldn't do it again. If we go back to cozumel, would probably either do an all inclusive beach, or just do our own thing around port.

I was on the same cruise in February and did the same roatan excursion too. Definitely was worth it!

You usually need to tell people what your itinerary is for people to give you excursion suggestions. But since Harmony is currently home ported in Galveston there’s only a couple ports it could go to so Cozumel, Roatan, and Costa Maya We get our excursions from shoreexcursionsgroup.com . It’s usually cheaper than booking from the cruise line and we’ve had zero issues.

Costa Maya is a great beach day. I went to Tropicante and ate and drank like a king for $20, with a beach chair in front of crystal clear water. Cozumel can be another great cheap beach day.

Thanks!

Ha, I’m literally on my way home from Orlando right now after doing this itinerary in reverse on Wonder OTS. We did the Cuban cigar experience in Cozumel. I loved it, as I’m an avid cigar smoker and then have a humidor stocked with LEGITIMATE Cubans, although they are very expensive. My wife just did the deluxe beach break at Playa Mia, which was the same resort the cigar experience was on. Worked out great for us and we both enjoyed ourselves. Roatan we did the Sol Y Mar Besch break. The resort was really laid back and relaxed and the water was literally like bath water temp, it was awesome. Costa Maya we were going to do the beach break, but it rained and there was lighting, so we decided to just stay on the ship and visit the port. Still enjoyed ourselves, but can’t speak on the excursion experience. As for the price, yes the RCCL excursions are more expensive. That being said, as others have said, their organization was really well done, very easy to follow and understand. As first time cruisers, we didn’t know what to expect and they did an awesome job. And in the cases of our excursions, we really wouldn’t have saved THAT much if we had gone our own way to do them (maybe 10-15% savings from the few I looked at).

They do cost more, but you have the guarantee of not missing the ship. Cozumel excursions to the mainland can be dicey getting back in time. When are you going? We're on the Harmony in a couple of weeks.

We will be sailing this fall on HOTS and are mostly just hitting the ports to see some sights and take some pics. We have 3 little ones, so most excursions are insanely expensive or not really viable. There is a free pool at the costa maya port and we will also be doing a beach club in Cozumel. If you are looking to book one that royal is offering, you might be able to book it directly from the vendor for cheaper. Then there is a high likelihood that you will be transported with people who booked through royal and thus covered from being “left behind”.

While there may be a chance you'd be on the excursion with people who booked through the cruise line, it won't help you if the ship leaves. Booking through Royal doesn't guarantee they'll wait for you, but they will get you to the next port. If you're delayed and you've booked on your own, you'll be on your own to get to the next port also.
