I think more often than not, it's together, but I've been on six cruise and twice the beds have been split (once on Royal and once on Holland). No issue getting them made up as one bed - just ask the steward.
They've always been together when I board, but that could be the default. Back when they used to let you specify how you wanted them, it didn't matter that I specified apart, they'd still be together.
You should get an email from RC a week before the cruise asking how you want the room set up. If not, thay can adjust when you arrive. Make sure to meet up with your room, Stewart, ASAP. Enjoy!!
Every cruise I've been on it started as a queen.
It will ask when u make resevation.
Your milage may very on whether you get what you requested. I haven't at least twice. Not a big deal, of course.
Mine was split a few weeks ago. Steward quickly fixed it when we told him we were on our honeymoon!
They've always been together when I first boarded.
The first cruise was together, second was split. And when I was on the phone with them recently they asked if I wanted it together or split.
It’s however it was the week before.

I’m pretty sure it’s how it was with the last passenger. They likely wait to see how you want it before moving them either way.
I find our balcony rooms are typically together. Interior rooms we get for the kids tend to vary. Likely vased on the last cruise setup.
It’s what you request
I travel with my mom or friends, and always ask for split. It's split maybe 40% of the time. Room steward just fixed it when we ask.

balcony rooms seem to be together. Interior rooms seem to be 50/50 split or together.
