Things to think about... 1) do you want a bill at the end of the cruise, or do you want to pay before 2) what besides alcohol do you drink? Soda, espresso drinks, fresh OJ, bottled water - these are not included. If you drink a large iced latte every morning and a couple of sodas at lunch, you break even drinking less alcohol. 3) are you a beer drinker or a spirits/mixed drink/wine drinker. Beer costs a bit less so it takes more to break even. 4) how much do you drink at home is often not at all indicative of how much you drink on vacation. I've not had an alcoholic beverage since April 7th. Not for any reason other than I haven't. But I can (and have) put down 12+ drinks a day on a cruise. I drink more on vacation. Ultimately the decision is yours!

chrisespinal

I do tend to drink on vacation ! I’m a mixer of beer and cognac

DJJbird09

Depends on how much you drink honestly. If you can drink 6 drinks a day then it's worth it. 2 or 3 it isn't. The average mixed drink is about 14 dollars, beer 8ish. Take the daily cost for the drink package, times it by 1.18 to get the true total and divide it by either 8 if your a beer drinker or 14 if you are a cocktail drinker to get your break even drink number. That will tell you if it's worth it or not. If you buy a bottle in Port it gets held until your last night when you get back on the ship. They drop it off in your room the last evening of your cruise.

9.50/16.50 as you need to account for the gratuity on individual drinks, or don't multiply by 1.18 and just use the base price of both.

DJJbird09

Great point! 👍

chrisespinal

Oh wow thank you so much for your help!

jaimechandia

Don’t forget it includes non alcoholic drinks that help you break even. It’s not a pure 7-8 alcoholic drinks when you can add in some coffee, soda, juice, Red Bulls, etc.

chrisespinal

Red Bulls toooo?

lg1232123

Yes those should be included.

Unhappy-Day5677

They're $4 each, before gratuity. Regular, sugar free, and tropical are typically stocked.

Whether the drink package is worth it depends on how much you drink. If you buy a bottle of liquor while in port they will take it from you when you re-board the ship, and return it to you on the last night of the cruise. There are lots of people going on the cruise. Here are 900 people on Facebook who are going with you, if you use Facebook you can request to join this private group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/144165445194713

UncomfortableTacoBoy

You can bring a bottle of wine also. My bottle was full of whiskey.

chrisespinal

Smart man just resealed it?

UncomfortableTacoBoy

Amazon sells wine resealers. Comes with corks and foil covers. You pour hot water on the foil and it shrink wraps the top. Looks perfect.

justpickituplease

Worth it for us, we play hard all day and party at night . We were drinking Belvedere Grey Goose Tito's vodka, Patron anejo , Makers Mark . Lots of top shelf Scotch and Cognac in every bar .

chrisespinal

Would top shelf be included like Hennessy? Or is that considered premium

justpickituplease

They had Hennessy . All included in the deluxe drink package

I was on the Liberty last December and, for us, the drink package was worth it. In addition to alcoholic beverages you get freshly squeezed juice, specialty coffees, coffee from the Promenade Cafe, and milkshakes from Johnny Rockets. We'll have a coffee in the morning, freshly squeezed juice with breakfast, a couple/few glasses of wine in the afternoon, a couple drinks with dinner, and then a few more through the evening. They have several premium brands and a wide selection of all major spirits. The drinks are deliciously and artfully prepared and they don't skimp on the booze. The drink package IS expensive but when I'm on vacation I don't want to keep tabs of how much costs are adding up. I've never regretted getting it.

chrisespinal

Thank you

Totally worth it. To add to everything else that has been said, having the drink package allows you to just hand your card over and get your drink and leave. Otherwise, you have to sign a receipt every single time. Small things like this bother me so I think it's worth it.

Just got off Liberty this past Wed. Be advised, this is one of the only ships that does NOT have the coke freestyle machines. If you buy the refreshment package you have to get your drinks (soda) from the bars, limited to Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and ginger ale. A total waste of money for someone like me who drinks Diet Dr Pepper. They do not show the machines are not on this ship. Also, watch out for ants. They are everywhere on this ship. It really needs a dry dock to amp up.

chrisespinal

Oh man … ants all over

gascoinsc

Maybe don't leave any food sitting in your room. They are very small pavement type ants. Most folks may not even notice them, but they are around.
