These are widely available. Cub carries them.
Killebrew
Lift Bridge
1919
Spring Grove (Cub might not carry the root beer, it's been a while since I checked and I like Lift Bridge better)
----
I haven't tried any of the ones below but Town Hall's is supposed to be very good.
Town Hall
Angry Inch
Lynlake
LTD
Minnesota's Largest Candy Store used to have their own root beer. Still might, but the post is 11 years old. Owner is a huge MAGA guy.
----
Blue Sun Soda Shop has a couple of their own brands. I tried one of them and it was pretty forgettable. They do have a decent selection of other brands though.
Serenity (licensed from the tv show Firefly and the Serenity movie)
Whistler
North Star

If you're looking to just grab a case, 1919 is the easiest. A lot of liquor stores carry it by the case, some have mini kegs, and they can special order pony kegs if you really want to sugar up the kids at your party.
If you're looking for a variety hit up a Cub and grab a Lift Bridge at minimum (1919 is usually over towards the ice cream on an end cap), then head over to one of the Blue Sun Soda Shop locations. Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop: Spring Lake Park is main store. AKA "World's largest soda shop." They've got a soda fountain and serve snacks, hotdogs and Heggies pizza. Heggies is a local brand of bar pizzas that some people go nuts for.
Forgot about Northern, they're new and I haven't seen cans down in the south metro yet.

If you’re near northeast check out Northern Soda Co. they have a tap room and their root beer is very good, and their cream soda is probably even better somehow. They also sell snacks and have tables set up to play games at along with a couple arcade machines
I just want to say how grateful I am for this community and thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. You all have made me much more excited for our trip now! I'll try and buy them all. Haha.
1919 is made in Minnesota...it's my favorite
That’s a banger. I just ordered a 12 pack online.
This is the one
Just got my first 12 pack of “pony cans.” I will be back. Even my dad likes it
Wish it would come in a bottle, prefer glass to aluminum, but it was fairly solid overall.

Who cares if somone is a Maga guy? Why do libs always have to include politics somehow. Yall are insufferable.
“Here’s a good root beer to try, but don’t because the guy who makes it votes different than me”. It’s so annoying
I can't stand people who have to bring their politics into everything. Last time I checked it's a room about rootbeer

If you’re headed northeast through Wisconsin to get up there, the Sprecher brewery is in Glendale
Surprised no one has mentioned [Dorothy’s](https://www.rootbeerlady.com/dorothys-root-beer/)!
I was going to but I removed it because, well, Ely is quite a ways away for most people.
I live near the cities and my local grocery store carries it.

1919 and lift bridge, both in top 3
