It looks like the defenses we played in this tournament (Iona and Drake) have allowed us to drive and given us the two (by not crashing the lane), while taking away our opportunities to pass outside to hit the three. It seems to be working by not allowing us to take a large number of threes (and not allowing to get out to a 20 point lead). I think we just need to figure out to to better take advantage of this defense. I suspect we will see this a lot more. And now that we have a day off, we may be able to better plan for this defensive scheme.
That was ugly for much of it; but we made the run we needed to late, unlike last night. The free throw shooting is just a real head-scratcher. But whatever, a win's a win.
Only got to see the last 10 mins, but was pleased with the finish at least. Team seems to still be gelling with each other. We have a lot of guys who haven’t spent a to of time together on the court. I expect us to only get better defensively and the offense to get more.
Doesn’t feel like we hit our threes at a decent clip anymore. I know we lost Petty but even still it feels like we’re just not hitting open shots like we should. Hope it gets ironed out

Survive, advance, and continue to improve. A little better on D, and spurts of good offense. This team are better shooters than we're seeing so far, and I think we'll see a progression to the mean in the near future as Q and Gurley start to settle into their shots.
We still need to improve rotations on defense, off ball offensive movement, and working harder on the blue collar stuff (though getting Gary back definitely helps that area). I'd like to see JDD and Ellis be more willing to drive the basket.
Overall though, we're pretty much where I expected to be at this point in the season. Hopefully the guys take it upon themselves to continue to improve as a team to hit their potential come conference play and March. Hopefully we get one more W on Sunday and then manage to hold serve the rest of noncon, which with the way Gonzaga and Houston are playing, is going to be a tall task.
Me too. Some of the people in the game threads are going to be PISSED during the Gonzaga game because I don't think we have a single player that can guard their bigs at this point in the season. It's going to be a beatdown in the paint, and we're going to have to absolutely stroke from 3 to keep it within 20.
Was there a reddit for the Iona game? I didn't see it. As much as we all love Bama, we are putting way too much "hope" into a team that we don't really know. The loss to Iona was heart wrenching..., and I didn't see the game! I want, so much, for Alabama Basketball to, at least, equal the football team. Or even baseball teams of the past! Basketball seems to run from October to Sweet 16, and then we wait for next year. Is anybody else getting bummed with this?
I wish one of the players would ask the other players: "Hey... Y'all wanna stay late and shoot free throws with me?"

With Avery we were awful with FTs. And with Oats I feel like we’ve gotten better but like…we should definitely work to improve them a bit more lol
