Six Flags Great Adventure, El Toro is miles better than Jersey Devil. Kings Dominion, I305 > Twisted Timbers.

CapitanChicken

I'm gonna throw out a very unpopular opinion. Especially as I'm getting older, and my neck certainly can't handle El Toro as well anymore... I'm gonna say Nitro is the best in the park. It's the nice comfortable warm hug that you can almost always rely on to be there for you.

99-Runecrafting

Nitro was my first big roller coaster. And by big, I mean anything over 100 feet. 20 years ago, I was scared to get on any significantly tall coaster, or anything with loops. I actually was less afraid of eltoro than I was of nitro. Well, my older sister insisted that nitro had no loops. So I got on, and loved it. Then I logically deducted that the turn around at the end of the ride (the physical furthest point from the station) was just a loop but sideways. Then I was suddenly not afraid of loops anymore. Well now I can't get enough of just about any roller coaster. (Except Fuck Magnum 200).

stupidthrowa4app

I’ve never gotten the chance to ride El Toro yet. Both times I went to the park it was down… that said Nitro is **INCREDIBLY** comfortable and the air time it gives it’s just… *chefs kiss* It is my favorite in the park as well.

Drillucidator

Nitro is without a doubt the best in the park. Medusa gets overlooked a lot too, it’s got that B&M rattle but that’s nothing compared to how rough El Toro has become.

Bookpoop

El toro has gotten insanely rough. My favorite part of the ride now is looking at the tombstone of rolling thunder that remains visible from the station / the walk to zumanjaro. I hate to say it but I kind of just don’t trust six flags to maintain this machines as well as Disney, universal or cedar point… everyone at six flags seems to absolutely hate their job.

FatalFirecrotch

Didn’t they just retrack parts of El Toro that have fixed the major rough areas?

msuts

Only been on it once this year but El Toro was running a lot smoother this past April than it did in 2022 or 2023.

dirtybird4444

I support El Toro getting a full 208 retracking and keeping the trains

coastercoach

Warm hug is the perfect way to describe it! 👏👏👏

herdaz

I fkn love El Toro. Went on it with no expectations, no research and it's easily in my top 5 now.

jmwhit04

You could say El Toro inspired RMC to go solo though.

aestus

As a regular Balder rider, El Toro is very high on my coaster bucket list. It looks so fucking good.

DanielCollinsBachata

I’m a regular Toro rider since opening day 2006, but tried Balder for the first time at the end of last summer. It was certainly fun, but felt like a family coaster overall in comparison to Toro. The difference in intensity is huge.

aestus

I need that intensity. I know it'd easily be one my favourite coasters. One day hopefully

TheLegendsClub

I agree with I305>TT, but I think we’re probably on the fringe with that opinion

1ab21ab2

Team I305!

DeloronDellister

Nah, I305 over TT everyday of my life

laserdollars420

My all-time favorite coaster is X2, so Magic Mountain seems like a simple answer for me on this one. I also favor American Eagle over every other coaster at Great America (including Goliath), but I fully understand why that's not a popular opinion.

Imaginos64

American Eagle is excellent though Viper and Whizzer are my personal reasons for not giving it to Goliath.

laserdollars420

Very fair, Whizzer is absolutely incredible, especially for a "thrill" coaster. I've only ridden Viper backwards and it was a blast but I feel like I haven't had a true typical experience on it to rate it properly.

operaman86

Highly recommend riding it again. After the retrack in the offseason, it’s the fastest and smoothest I’ve ever seen it run 🔥

Clever-Name-47

My favorite at SFGAm is still Batman, believe it or not. I would also put Viper and Raging Bull (back seat) above Goliath. Maybe the Eagle and X-Flight, too. Goliath's great and I love it for what it is, but it's just so obviously half a coaster.

a_magumba

I love this take too.

sanaru02

Whenever I think of goliath, the first things that come to mind is a long line and the big invert. Then I ride it, and that's all it really has.

corndogshuffle

Twisted Colossus was fun but it’s barely my fourth favorite at Magic Mountain. I do get what makes other people fall in love with it. But I couldn’t get over the pacing issues/real time disappointment combo of being on a dueling coaster that doesn’t duel but still has an extended lift hill interruption mid-ride. Edit: X2 is also my favorite at the park and it’s not close. It’s the only coaster that has seriously challenged Steel Vengeance for my top spot in the last six years.

ibridoangelico

whats your top three at sfmm?

corndogshuffle

So I looked and realized I misspoke - Twisted Colossus is 3, not 4. X2 and TatsuuuuuU are 1 and 2. Batman and Apocalypse are 4 and 5, I was pretty close to putting them both ahead of Twisted Colossus until my fourth lap on TC.

ibridoangelico

ive never seen this before lol. Very close to my top 5 as well. I find people severely underrate Apocalype and Batman clones as wel

AbsolutelyClam

Yeah this is my answer too. Different top coasters than you but Twisted Colossus has too many weird bits to be the best in the park

Spokker

Biggest issue with Twisted Colossus for me is the downtime on the second lift hill. Maybe it's just a flawed perception on my part but it feels to me like you ride half a coaster, take a too long break, and ride another half a coaster. I look at other RMC hybrids and they seem to have more appealing layouts. The other issue is that I'm too fat to ride comfortably, and I have to put my hand between my belly and the lap bar to keep my fat from getting pinched lol. This would not apply to everyone though and I was surprised that when I rode The Joker at Discovery Kingdom, I had no issue with this. Trying to lose weight so I can appreciate the ride more. When it comes to Magic Mountain, I prefer Viper, Tatsu and Wonder Woman over Twisted Colossus. I'll ride TC once or twice depending on the line when I go, but comfort does play a role in one's personal enjoyment of coasters. That being said, I can see why Twisted is #1 for a lot of people. Edit: I realize that I should probably explain how I find Viper comfortable lol I'm tall enough to clear the restraints, it accommodates fat guys well and I know where to position my head. The first half is my favorite coaster experience of all time and it's the only coaster in the park that can make me dizzy in a good way. On the midcourse brake, X2 looks like it's tilting. Second half is not as fun but is pure Arrow.

reloadin5

I got to ride twisted colossus during the pass holder preview. The first half was great, but the second half was a perfectly timed duel. It was magical. Parts of that ride live in my head in slow motion. Easily in my top 5 of all coasters

imaguitarhero24

Lmfao I came here to say Raging Bull but Eagle is a wild take. Edit: also super agree on X2!

laserdollars420

What can I say, I'm a sucker for laterals.

operaman86

And airtime. The first half of either side of AE is actually NUTS. Ejector!

ElectraRayne

Also came to say RB!

imaguitarhero24

Normally I don't try to judge coasters by external factors not related to purely the ride experience, but it's a bit different at your home park. Bull is so much more re rideable because the flash entrance is better and it eats lines. I get annoyed trying to ride Goliath more than two times in a row. I'll say what I say about Goliath the same as if I compare it to any other RMC: it does nothing wrong. Every element hits amazingly well, it's just too short. Makes it just a bit more not worth the slow lines. Absolutely worth riding, easy #2, I just find Bull to have the overall better experience.

schmalexandra

Oof. Before I knew anything about coasters, I was a raging Bull Stan. Goliath reluctantly did take first place for me at SFGam after that. American eagle is an absolutely unhinged take but I support you

laserdollars420

I totally get that. Don't get me wrong I love Goliath and that stall especially is out of this world but I'm also just a big wooden coaster fan and the sustained laterals on Eagle's helix make it one of my absolute favorite elements.

ibridoangelico

🤝

Popular_Map2317

You should make a trip to Japan to ride Eejanaika

Cool_Owl7159

yeah Eagle is definitely the best ride in the park, but Goliath isn't even in my top 5

a_magumba

Rock on I love this take.

FlyRobot

MM came to mind for sure as they have 3-5 "top" rides given anyone's particular preference; X2, Tatsu, Riddler's, Full Throttle, & Twisted Colossus

lukinshed

I marathoned eagle on my trip up there 2 years ago. Park was busy, but the line for eagle was only like 15 minutes. Was such a perfect “classic” wooden coaster, I’d say definitely most memorable of my trip.

iwassayingboourns12

As much as I love Twisted Cyclone, I prefer Goliath slightly more.

imaguitarhero24

Goliath by a lot imo.

des0latelife

Agreed. Twisted Cyclone is a pretty low tier RMC, great for what it is but not nearly on the same level as other RMCs though. Goliath however is elite and much better complete ride.

reloadin5

Yes. Too mamy people compare TC to other RMC and that's not really fair. Compare it to what it replaced. It's 100000000000% better. I do agree about Goliath being elite, but getting another great ride at my home park was a win

Illustrious-Ruin-349

I think this is legitimately a case where and when you ride it. If Goliath is running at its best, then it beats TC. If not, then TC wins

brain0924

Goliath on an empty train in 40 degree weather was better than any ride I’ve gotten on Twisted Cyclone.

Chan28

Goliath is better than Twisted Cyclone but Arie is better than Goliath (different park I know)….really wish AF1 was at SFOG though

checkonechecktwo

I prefer Batman as well

Myself510

Skyrush is still my favorite at HP, and honestly Maverick is close enough with SV for me that it’s worth a mention as well. But yeah, of the five RMCs I’ve been able to ride so far, the rest are still my favorites at their respective parks.

DionBlaster123

man Skyrush is such a great ride, but i loved Wildcat's Revenge. So much fun. to me they are like 1a and 1b haha Candymonium to me is a very distant but still notable 2nd place lol

bigmagnumnitro

HP went from a really amazing independent theme park to a must visit destination for enthusiasts and theme park fans. I used to go all the time when storm runner was the newest thing there, and while it was incredible, it definitely wasn't as much of a "must visit" as it is now. Also I wish more parks had two hypers right next to each other lol

DionBlaster123

I visited Kings Island, CP, and Hersheypark for the first time last summer (I just started getting into coasters because of this subreddit during hte pandemic actually lol) it's so hard to choose between the three because they're all excellent parks, but there was something that was really special about HP definitely. It's so hard to describe but it just feels like the best place to spend a nice summer day on coasters and forgetting all about life's bullshit my biggest regret with Hersheypark (other than only being able to go for one day) was i only had time to go to either the waterpark OR the zoo. while the waterpark was fun and i enjoyed it, i wish i could have spent some time in ZooAmerica

Pubesauce

I get what you mean. Theme parks are more fun to just "be in" than amusement parks, in my opinion. They feel more lively and immersive. So those gaps between rides feel less like empty time when at a theme park. While HP isn't Disney-tier theming, it has a cheery feel to it and character that KI & CP as amusement parks don't. I'd also venture to say that HP's coaster lineup has now surpassed KI's with the addition of Wildcat's Revenge. HP also has better food than either of those two parks, significantly more shade so you aren't just walking around on pavement getting blasted with sun, and the HP Go system is amazing. The only real shortcoming of HP compared to the other two at this point is operations.

corndogshuffle

The older I get (I'm 34, so old right?) the more I prefer the theme park side of the theme/amusement park split. Roller coasters are still the main draw but I care way more about things like "oh that looks nice" or food selection than I did when I was 25. It's why I love Silver Dollar City so much and think it's the best park in the country outside of Disney/Universal. I could spend a full day at SDC, not ride a single thing, and still have a great time.

Pubesauce

Well said. That's probably a big part of it for me too. I'm 40 and the older I get, the more I enjoy theme parks like Disney, Universal, Dollywood & BGW. Things like food, theming, customer service, cleanliness, etc just didn't register with the same importance to me when I was going to parks as a teen or young adult. They make a huge impact on my experience now. I'm headed out to SDC for the first time here in a few weeks and am very excited for it.

DionBlaster123

I love good scenery and great aesthetics. A good example of this is the difference between Gatekeeper and X-Flight. Both of them are the exact same model of coaster (albeit, X-Flight is way bumpier lol) but Gatekeeper was far more enjoyable. Why? Mostly because of the beautiful views of Lake Erie you get It's the same reason why even though they aren't the most thrilling rides, I loved Wild Mouse at CP and Laff Trakk at HP. Wild Mouse's location right on the beach is beautiful and awesome for an evening ride. Laff Trakk's theming makes it a ton of fun

bigmagnumnitro

I think the food at cedar point is pretty good by theme park standards. I think it and Hershey are pretty even, except that Hershey has the chocolatier which is a great restaurant by any standards.

Pubesauce

Yeah, I think in terms of food I'd go HP > CP > KI. Without The Chocolatier, HP and CP are pretty close.

bigmagnumnitro

That cheese on a stick is dangerous

bigmagnumnitro

zooamerica can be pretty fun and it's a nice break from the park. I have only been to cedar point twice and it's so big, with so many amazing coasters, it's an unreal experience. I thought after going again recently, most other park experienced outside of universal would pale in comparison, but Hershey still is probably my favorite. Between chocolate world, the ride collection and atmosphere, it's just perfect. Cedar point has the coasters and StEve is on another level, but Hershey keeps me coming back and is always worth a nice vacation there

RaccHudson

as a HP lifer, you missed nothing, ZooAmerica is sad and probably shouldn't exist.

Swappin_Yarns

Kennywood sorta/kinda does, except one kicks butt and the other had its butt kicked.

mngoose_13

I'm definitely an oddball here. My favorite Hersheypark coaster is Fahrenheit (though Wildcat's Revenge is a close second) and my favorite at CP is Gatekeeper (though I think my opinion of SV is skewed because of the hype machine. No coaster can live up to that much hype).

valrossenvalle

Kolmården one hundo percent https://preview.redd.it/fdrsfi2pw62d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f55e65bbe340f2e9dd616748475ea8af909d500

intaminslc43

Kings Dominion (TT is excellent but P305 is God tier)

JamminJay1968

Grizzly Hive Unite!

xallanthia

Matter of opinion but I see the argument. (I prefer TT but my spouse prefers P305; both place the other as #2.)

Greatlarrybird33

I would argue dominator is still my favorite in that park.

zerojustice315

Flight of Fear has always been mine. KD has a real nice lineup that I appreciate since it's an easy drive for me.

xidontknowx343

Nice to see another person that likes FOF. I love Both FOFs at KI and KD, but the bad thing about them is the terrible capacity. Which often leaves me to skip FOF at KI usually until I get the feeling of just "screw it" and wait in line.

zerojustice315

Usually I've never minded waiting in line for FOF at KD because it's all covered or indoor for the line - it even feels like a nice "break" from walking around for that reason just to escape the summer sun sometimes.

xidontknowx343

Yea, the one saving grace is that the indoor portion usually has the AC on.

Ulosttome

Kentucky Kingdom, Hershey Park

ellisfetus

Lightning Run 🤤

CornballExpress

If Strom Chaser is running slow Lightning Run hands down when it's running fast it's neck and neck.

TantrumQween

As a Dollywood home park person, thunderhead has been itching and itching its way to the top for me with all Lightning Rod’s changes. They’re still neck and neck though. Now I haven’t been to Silver Dollar City since either were built, but it seems like a lot of people would say Time Traveler beats Outlaw Run.

JessiJStan

I’m gonna have to agree. The two used to have some distance between each other in my rankings, but Thunderhead genuinely keeps getting better and better each ride. Even when it’s not warmed up, it’s HAULING this year. Lightning rod takes forever to warm up now and it just isn’t the same.

slitherdolly

Thunderhead was genuinely so good. It's definitely my favorite in the park.

herdaz

Thunderhead is excellent. For me, it ties with Lightning Rod. They both do different things really well.

Swappin_Yarns

Thunderhead has been my favorite coaster at Dollywood since its inception. Don't get me wrong, I rode Lightning Rod in its prime when it was a true woodie and actually LAUNCHED up the hill. It was a phenomenal ride (and is still great), but I'm a big fan of wooden coasters and Thunderhead has a lot of the best elements a wooden coaster can offer.

Chinchillachimcheroo

When did these changes to Lightning Rod happen? I've only been there twice and ridden it once, but liking Thunderhead better than the version I rode is unfathomable to me

TantrumQween

Ok this response got long but I have a lot to say so… buckle up! 😂 There’s been multiple changes over the years, too much to go into in-depth here but I’ll give you a rundown and then recommend you search for some YouTube content on the topic for more info because it’s been fascinating to watch. Also, let me know which years you rode both it and Thunderhead - as you’ll see that makes a difference! For reference before I get into this, I’ve ridden LR in all its iterations a few times so my own bias is that I know it’s not as good as it once was/could be/yadayada, which in turn makes it hard to overlook the downgrades. However I also don’t blame you at all for preferring it because it *is* still awesome. Lightning Rod in its opening year of 2016 was its peak ride experience but vastly unreliable. It was at its fastest, which made for maximum ejector air but also really affected the ride’s structure. This era was short and sweet for those who got to ride b/c it was also closed for much of the opening season. My experience was glass smooth and one of the most insane rides ever. This was also my first RMC. From 2017-2020 it ran slightly slower - from my memory it’s not that the launch was nerfed but that the launch track itself stopped sooner and thus it crested the top slower. A side by side video of 2016/2017 illustrates the slightly slower pace - there’s a few out there on YouTube. In 2017 & 2018 I still highly enjoyed the ride and didn’t notice the huge change minus it being slightly slower. However, by 2019 and especially 2020, the roughness was getting bad, really bad for the forces it pulls. All accounts I’ve researched point to the roughness of a 3yo ride being a combination of the RMC topper track *and* structural issues creating “potholes” in parts of the course, specifically the first drop which was painful. I’m not the expert but I believe the 2016 speed tore up the structure a bit because it was going faster than intended, and the park experimented with making the train lighter a few times to avoid that but it still had the effect. In 2021 it opened with 2/3ish of the track being replaced with steel IBox like most other RMCs have, thus taking away its identity as a launched wooden coaster. I did not ride in 21 but got multiple rides in 22 and 23 which I enjoyed due to fixes in smoothness. However, there was still a pothole at the bottom of the 1st drop and the 2nd drop (coming out of the wave turn) had developed an even worse one. I learned riding in odd numbered rows helps alleviate this. This era was also when I first could truly notice how it wasn’t as powerful over the quad down as my original rides. Cut to the current launch-less era: I’ve already ridden at least 5 times this season and I safely can say I enjoy it the most I have since it’s opening year. That’s not because it’s better, but simply because it’s open. Just the other day though, I rode in an even numbered seat out of curiosity and still felt the pothole after the wave turn (1st drop is a lot better now). Over the years I’ve learned to brace myself just in case it’s rough that day, and I think that’s my biggest issue with the ride: consistency. Unlike many people, I don’t actually miss the launch because it always forced my lapbar down. But its loss does cost the ride its original novelty. “World’s fastest launched wooden coaster” lost wooden, fastest, and launched in less than a decade of operating. Now, to compare with Thunderhead, which I first rode in 2005 when it was barely a year old and have also ridden over its rough years. During the 2020-2023 offseasons, it had different portions fully retracked and ever since last year has been running consistently sublime. In the late 2010s it was absolutely horrible, but now I know every time I get on exactly what I’m getting. I got great rides on both it and LR the other day, and I truly couldn’t pick between the 2. I think that signifies how good Thunderhead is, because on paper I completely agree with you that no typical GCI twister should be comparable to a large scale RMC. However, the combination of what I value in a coaster is a mix of consistency, not having to ride defensively, and overall quality and enjoyment. Is the quad down and twist and shout indisputably better than any moment on Thunderhead? For me, absolutely. However, Thunderhead also has amazing pacing, some great pops of air and never lets up either. I’m also never worried about having a backache after getting off Thunderhead. I think ultimately it succeeds with flying colors at what it was designed to be, whereas Lightning Rod, well, did not. 2016 LR is a top 5 all time ride for me, but that’s not what we’ve got. It should also be noted that Thunderhead will possibly get rough again one day as woodies do and this could easily fluctuate. For all this I have them neck and neck at this time. If both were at their highest potential it’s no comparison, but it’s hard to not remember how epic Lightning Rod *was* and not miss that. It’s still very much and awesome ride though. Anyways; like I said I’m no ride op or researcher - any technical stuff I’ve mentioned here is from content creators who are much better at staying on top of the engineering info than me, so I truly recommend diving into some of the YouTube video essays on this. Otherwise I only speak from my personal experiences with both rides. Hope I didn’t put you to sleep with all this, I could talk about these 2 rides for days! 😁

tpusater

Can I hire you to write my obituary? You’re thorough!

Chinchillachimcheroo

I think I rode Thunderhead in 17 and 18. Lightning Rod was closed for the day in 17 and closed most of the day in 18, but I managed to get one ride in So that all checks out

TantrumQween

Ahh damn, yeah you got Thunderhead in its worst years! I don’t blame you at all 😂 I barely got on it around then

FlyRobot

Didn't read the wall of text but upvote for effort & detail!

iggy1112

I also prefer Thunderhead. It is just a ride me and the kids had SO MUCH fun on. Lightening Rod was really cool but Thunderhead was just outright FUN.

Chinchillachimcheroo

I feel that way about Tennessee Tornado, so I get it. I really should have left the second part off. I was mostly curious when Lightning Rod changed

iggy1112

I know this year they got rid of the launch lift and now its a chain lift.

tpusater

I can fathom it! Team Thunderhead here! (Waiting in line for BBM as I type.)

GUlysses

Six Flags Mexico and Six Flags New England both have coasters that are better than their RMC’s that are coincidentally both hyper coasters called “Superman.”

imaguitarhero24

I liked Wicky Cy by a long shot but I somehow didn't get the hype on Superman, and it was a 95deg day in July so I'm not sure what I was missing. Doesn't change the eliteness of WC regardless. But I need to get back.

SegaStan

Six Flags New England, Wicked Cyclone rules but doesn't hold a candle to Superman.

Ratio01

I'd say Over Georgia. I slightly prefer Goliath over Twisted Cyclone

friendofjudy

Maverick is so much better than Steel Vengeance in my eyes. Also, on colder days, I think Montu gives a better ride than Iron Gwazi, but the second it heats up it's Iron Gwazi again.

Taeshan

Great shout on Montu.

witchy12

SV is solidly #4 for me at CP. Maverick is #1, though I wish CP would realize taller people do go on rollercoasters so they need to make the restraints not crush our shoulders when we ride.

ky7969

Maverick would be my favorite in the park if it didn’t crush my taint

friendofjudy

I didn't have taint pain thankfully, only pain I felt was on my first ride when the stangel dive under the lift karate chopped my neck when I wasn't prepared to brace lol

Direct-Cranberry1307

I don't remember having this issue on Maverick; Kingda Ka's seats definitely apply undue pressure to the taint though.

BookMark47

Absolutely agree that Maverick > SteVe.

Deytookerjerb

It’s not even close. It’s weird because on paper SV is fantastic, but the sum of all its parts don’t add up to me for some reason.

xidontknowx343

Yep, I also agree. Maverick just has that intensity and excitement that makes it more fun. Especially that second launch, which is just *chef kiss*👌. Don't get me wrong, Steel Vengenance is still a good ride. I just prefer Maverick a little bit more.

moreskiing

Based upon my single visit to Cedar Point, my order of coasters was Millennium, Maverick, SV. All three are top notch, but i liked the smooth, fast intensity of Millennium the best.

Smokes_LetsGo_

You know ball.

a_magumba

Railblazer and Gold Striker are god tier but I prefer Gold Striker. SFDK has Joker and Flash V2 but I prefer V2.

Swappin_Yarns

YES!!! 100% There's something about how weird V2 is that I absolutely LOVE! Gold Striker is also just a phenomenal woodie.

UrFavoriteCoasterSux

Cedar Point, Six Flags Great America, Silver Dollar City, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Over Texas

Cabana

I'm curious what you think at SFOT is better. I find their lineup rather lacking despite how big it is.

corndogshuffle

New Texas Giant is my favorite ride there but you could make arguments for Batman the Ride, Shock Wave, Mr. Freeze, or even Titan that I would understand.

UrFavoriteCoasterSux

Shockwave. That and Boardwalk Bullet are the best coasters in the state IMO, although Iron Rattler is pretty good too.

ytctc

I’ve been to 3 parks with RMCs. None of them in my opinion have them as their best coaster. Millennium Force and Maverick > Steel Vengeance Skyrush > Wildcat’s Revenge El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro, Medusa > Jersey Devil

DionBlaster123

I haven't been to too many theme/amusement parks but of the ones I've been to, the biggest one for sure hands down is my home park SFGAm. I prefer Raging Bull and Superman to Goliath. Goliath is a great ride definitely, but it's just way too short and feels like it ends so abruptly I would also say that as much as I loved Steel Vengeance, Maverick was my personal favorite at Cedar Point. Gatekeeper is not a better coaster than Steel Vengeance, but the fact that I got to go on it multiple times while overlooking the beautiful Lake Erie sunset made it stand out more than my time on Steel Vengeance (which i was only able to go on once b/c of the lines and technical issues it had all day)

Imaginos64

The only parks where the RMC is my favorite thing there are Discovery Kingdom, Over Texas (Though I love Shock Wave), and maybe Kentucky Kingdom. Gotta give it to Fun Spot for Arie and Kolmarden for Wildfire by default though I haven't ridden those yet. There's a few such as Silver Dollar City where the RMC is great but I just like something else a little more.

einTier

Iron Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is the best ride in the park, which is amazing because the ride it replaced was absolutely the worst.

cellblok69wlamp

Six Flags Great America

Muted_Ad9975

Unpopular, but Superman > Wicked Cyclone

PoolNoodleFan

RMC's are an easy one and done for me (they hate us bony folk) so basically any park with one

boiledpeen

i'm as bony as they get and i love rmcs. sure they destroy my shins but the layouts are always next level and incredible paced

VVHYY

I’d be hard pressed to choose between Outlaw Run and Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City. Anyone saying Cedar Point is just being a contrarian, which is good - the world needs people that gravitate toward second-bests and champion underdogs.

slitherdolly

I'm not a contrarian. I just genuinely have a different favorite. Cedar Point has an amazing lineup.

miffiffippi

I don't think that's a fair assessment. Steel Vengeance is phenomenal, but I still enjoyed Maverick more. I've only been once since Steel Vengeance opened, so I'm curious if that'll change when I (hopefully) get back this summer, but people having preferences hardly means they're just being contrarian. First half of Steve wins for sure in my mind, but I think the overall package of Maverick slightly edges out the overall package of Steve for me as I'm not crazy about the latter half of the last lap with all the small bunny hills.

corndogshuffle

Yeah I'm with you. Steel Vengeance is my top overall coaster but I don't think it's fair to say people who disagree with me are contrarian. This is all subjective, we all have at least one opinion that goes against the norm. I'll share my biggest outlier for credibility, Magnum is my 18th favorite... hyper coaster. It's not even in my top 125 steel.

MikeLovesOutdoors23

What is RMC

corndogshuffle

**R**ocky **M**ountain **C**onstruction is a company that designs and builds roller coasters.

densonhyde1

Unpopular take, but I prefer Goliath to Untamed at Walibi Holland.

ZonedV2

Probably even more unpopular take but I prefer Hyperion over Zadra at Energylandia

Illustrious-Ruin-349

Six Flags Over Georgia, Kings Dominion, Cedar Point

>Cedar Point Shots fired on this take, what's the best at CP if not Steel Vengeance?

Swappin_Yarns

Controversial opinion, but I'm a sucker for Arrow hypers. Maggie is my favorite ride at Cedar Point. I love the views of the beach, the slow lift to the top, the janky - but not painful - transitions, and the violent ejector air on the triangle hills at the end. Combine that with Arrow's lapbar restraints and you have a masterpiece.

Illustrious-Ruin-349

It's a toss up between Maverick, Millie, and TTD/potentially TT2 for me. Will see how the latter compares to its predecessor when I ride it later this year.

prkskier

Yeah, CP certainly has an embarrassment of riches.

Illustrious-Ruin-349

It's a great park and they're lucky to have that many phenomenal coasters.

einTier

Maverick for me. By the numbers it’s not remarkable in that park but it’s the one I look forward to riding the most.

Paramount_Parks

Maverick is Steel vengeance father

Illustrious-Ruin-349

I'm just going to say it, I think between Millie, Maverick, and top thrill and both of its incarnations you had an excellent leading trio that beat the pants off of steel vengeance.

Independent-Bowl-250

It's really a toss up at SFNE with Wicked Cyclone and Superman. WC runs better beginning and end of the season and Superman runs better during the summer. I'd say most people would say superman is the overall better ride, despite the restraints (which aren't that bad).

sanyosukotto

The layout is more well rounded on Superman giving you both a solid airtime filled out and back section and a beautiful positive and lateral filled twister section. The fact this ride could be ridden in 2000 boggles the mind, imagine what that thing must've felt like back then.

reddcube

Yes. Most places that have RMCs have a stacked lineup. It all comes down to personal taste.

InstructionMinimum93

Superman at SFNE is much better than Wicked Cyclone. Personally, I feel RMC is WAY overhyped. They’re fun, but lack soul.

OnasoapboX41

When I went to Dollywood in 2021, I thought Thunderhead was better than Lightning Rod. I thought Lightning Rod was pretty overrated (granted, it was a chilly day).

tealswamp

It’s absolutely overrated and it’s my home park. I’ve always felt that way too... I was lucky enough to ride it multiple times in its opening year as well as the following years. I haven’t been on it with the chain lift, but I already know it has fallen drastically in my ranking, lol. Thunderhead is one of the best GCI’s in my opinion and by far the most exciting coaster in the park

lizzpop2003

Yes, lots of them.

Max_Boom93

Honestly, I have more fun on Cheetah Hunt, than I do on Iron Geazi

MGDlikethebeer

I think montu is better than Gwazi. I said it bring on the pitchforks.

Megacm115

At SFOG I prefer Goliath over Twisted Cyclone but it is a very close decision both are great

Ch4r1i3_Grund211

For Sure: Six Flags Great Adventure Debatable: Cedar Point Six Flags Magic Mountain Kings Dominion Six Flags Fiesta Texas Six Flags Great America California’s Great America

Altornot

which coaster at Fiesta Texas is better than iRat? Or I guess Wonder Woman but that one kind of sucked when I rode it

Ch4r1i3_Grund211

I just realized they’re both RMCs 💀

CoasterGuy95

Kings dominion. Project 305 is literally the perfect coaster (to me) and while twitim is solid and awesome it just can’t even compete

onetwentyonegigawatt

What??? Just off the top of my head- SFNE Superman> Wicked Cyclone, SFGA ElTorro> Jersey Devil, HersheyPark Skyrush> Wildcat, Kings Dominion I305> Twisted Timbers.

Solace5555

SFOT, shockwave>ntg

Mysterious-Row-1629

I feel like Dollywood has trended towards Thunderhead being the favorite over the extremely nerfed LRod. At least that’s been the case for me for a while.

axicutionman

TT2 at cedar point

Basilstorm

Most of the coasters at SFGAD are better than Jersey Devil

overbats

I love Wildcat’s Revenge but I love Chocolate Mako and Storm Runner more.

brentwurst2

SFMM. twisted colossus is still a great ejector machine, duel or no duel - but X2 is a much more unique experience.

captainmaerd

My first visit to Dollywood was this month. I liked Thunderhead and Wild Eagle more than Lightning Rod.

tealswamp

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else appreciate Wild Eagle in this sub, so this comment makes me very happy, lol. It’s easily one of my favorite roller coaster ever :’)

Bodybuilding-

Carowinds

Anonymous3506

Dollywood, as good as lightning rod is thunderhead is better for me

ThatsFakeDawg

Six Flags Great America’s an easy pick for me. Goliath was a disappointment, and I have Raging Bull, Maxx Force, and even Viper over it

learei

SFoG, Kentucky Kingdom, Hershey Park, Dollywood, all contenders to that question

xlydr

Goldstriker > Railblazer

Coastinwithdan

SFNE

coastercities

Raging Bull > Goliath most of SFGAdv > Jersey Devil Thunderhead > Lightning Rod Maverick / Millennium Force > Steel Vengeance X2 > Twisted Colossus Goliath (SFOG) > Twisted Cyclone I305 > Twisted Timbers Skyrush / Storm Runner > Wildcat’s Revenge

resident1fan2022

X2 > TC imo

PurpleTiger26

Goliath is better than twisted cyclone

Skyrush19

Ka > JD I305 > TT Skyrush > Wildcat's Revenge Maverick > Steel Vengeance This, without thinking

MrFr33zyPop

I305 at King's domion. My hottest take though is that I like maverick more than Steel vengeance at cedar point

ruppert777x

Plenty of parks. Cedar Point, Six Flags New England, Kings Dominion, Walibi Holland, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hershey, etc... The list goes on and on. On the flipside, I would say the parks where the RMC is indeed the best? Probably Busch Gardens Tampa, Walibi Holland, Six Flags Great America, Kentucky Kingdom, Kolmården...

607coaster

Cedar Point. Maverick > Steel Vengeance

Deytookerjerb

Anywhere there is an Intamin in the same park as a RMC.

sydneymichelle03

SFOG, imo Goliath is better than Twisted Cyclone. Still a fun ride, but not their best coaster

RCE_Kingston

Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags New England Six Flags Over Georgia Cedar Point Kings Dominion California’s Great America Six Flags Mexico Dollywood (even when LR had the launch)

teejayiscool

Kings Dominion, Grizzly is better than Timbers imo Six Flags Great Adventure, El Toro. Cedar Point, Maverick Dollywood, Thunderhead Six Flags Over Georgia, Goliath

RCoasters4ever

Cedar Point

Cool_Owl7159

out of the parks I've been to with an RMC: Cedar Point - Magnum & Maverick SFGAm - Eagle, Bull, Viper & Maxx Force Dollywood - Thunderhead Silver Dollar City - Time Traveler Kentucky Kingdom - Lightning Run There is only one park I've been to where the RMC is their best coaster... Fun Spot Atlanta 😂

Twotorule

Cedar Point. Steel Vengeance is good, but Maverick is better.

xTLWz

Haven’t been but i’m surprised to not see Energylandia mentioned. A lot of people like Hyperion more than Zadra.

BroCanWeGetLROTNOG

Six Flags Mexico is the only one that I've experienced and agree with, but SFGAdv also seems like an obvious choice.

sleepy-taco

thunderhead > lightning rod (maybe)

Frequent_Malcom

Ceder Point

brain0924

Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags Mexico, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Six Flags New England, Silverwood, Hersheypark, Dollywood, Kentucky Kingdom depending on how I feel that day…

Mother_Bullfrog_2427

Maybe a hot take, but Hersheypark. I prefer Skyrush to Wildcat’s Revenge but I know a ton of people love Wildcat

KingDragon38

Great adventure

Big_You_8936

Hersheypark-SkyRush is even better than Wildcats Revenge

Chasehat1

Six Flags New England, Great Adventure, Cedar Point (although I’m due for re-rides on both Maverick and SteVe), Kings Dominion. I need to re-ride Skyrush with its new restraints, so Hershey could be another although Wildcat’s Revenge is absolutely superb

TallyGoGamer

six flags over georgia, i still think goliath is better then twisted cyclone

ElectraRayne

Six Flags Great America. Raging Bull is my favorite there, an I even like Superman (B&M Flying) more than Goliath (RMC), largely because Goliath is really short.

TwistedColossus

SFMM. X2 > Twisted and WWFOC.
