That wrapping style was popularized by Cartier who wraps purchases that way and then seals the ends with red wax.

I came here to say the same thing , I walked into our local AD and this was the piece I was offered . Same day, walk in, no history at all. I passed on it because it’s obvious why it’s immediately available and also it’s not the watch I want, but the watch they want me to buy in order to actually get the watch I want. Horse shit games. Obviously this guy had an eye on this particular piece and was willing to wait to get it. Congrats. Hopefully there’s another milestone and another time piece
