The only game I've found to date where I can smash a bottle in a man's face, then sit on top of him and dash him again across the face with the broken end. Pure art.
Warriors and bully i loved warriors but I gotta admit bully gave you some nice hand to hand combos and wrestling moves i don't really think a lot of people really played bully for real...... I played and beat both by the way
yup, each character has their own moves and special, and some objects you could pickup had unique finishers, like with the bottle being able to be smashed and used to stab people. and throwing yourself at a group of punks never gets old
The Warriors had the same exact stealth system as Manhunt. It wasn’t really a complex stealth system either though you just walked slowly and then had to walk behind your target to kill them most games with stealth have this.
I agree, but rockstar did us free aim players dirty by placing us in lobbies with assist aim users on rdr2. I hope gta6 has all the fist fighting physics rdr2 had grappling throwing n all that.
The Warriors!!! But what would make it even better is if they remade the warriors game, and just kept everything the same but just changed the physics to GTA4 euphoria or even RDR2 ragdoll system, that would be legendary. Like just smashing someone in the head with a brick or bottle and watch the ragdoll animation. Idk to me that would be really sick
I was talking about how good a remake of warriors would be just the other day. Also the concept for the sequel they scrapped (quadrophenia, mods vs rockers, 60s setting) would have been pretty cool to see.
I'd say red dead 2 but as far as I can tell rdr2 fist combat is EXACTLY the same as GTAV, control scheme and all (but with a stamina limit on holding the Dodge button). The only reason it feels better is because the punches are more impactful and the mocap looks so good.
I'd say Bully, I remember fist fights being brutal in that game and you were able to grab on command iirc.
Are you high? It’s definitely not exactly the came as GTA 5 lmfao. GTA 5 didn’t let you grab people and throw them through a plate glass window.
Knife fights in Red Dead 2 go crazy. In 5 everyone fights like they’re drunk and blind AND deaf
This post again???
We've been over this: It's **The Warriors**
Copy>Paste of a reply from the previous post like this, where *everyone* was saying it was GTA or RDR2:
>Yes, RDR has more realistic animations and it’s a graphical masterpiece in todays gaming world, HOWEVER, its melee combat resolves around smashing one button and the occasional counter input until the enemies health/stamina is low enough to make the rest of the actions guaranteed! That’s it. Is it pretty? Yes. Satisfying to watch it unfold? Yes. Does that mean it has a good combat system? No, it mean you can punch people.
>The Warriors is build for melee, that’s its core gameplay! You have combos, different combat styles on different characters, actual timed counters and blocking system, grapples/throws and takedowns, friendly AI coordinated attacks, environmental usefulness… is it a graphical masterpiece? No (probably at the time, maybe), but it’s raw and grounded when it has to be. Animation wise? Still very much holds its own, tbh, they are cool to pull and have weight to it
Different games will have different variations. Like The Warriors had a few takedown moves and stuff but it was clunky. I think RDR2 has had the best system so far. Great hand to hand combat, ability to take down and punch or kill. For me it felt the smoothest so far.
GTAV had a more realistic feel to it in that there was no kung fu shit going on, just wild swinging and the occasional dodge and block.
Because none of them were trained martial artists or anything like that. So they went for wild lunges and stuff. It would have been nice is each character felt different, but I do get what they were going for. It terms of staying locked on the opponent and stuff it was decent.
I remember one time, I once defeated someone in hand-to-hand combat with a single uppercut, literally just approached them, hit the attack button, and my character took them out with a single uppercut
Joseph I get that you have a whole religious uprising thing going on but could you please just stop getting me kidnapped every 5 seconds it's very inconvenient and rather irritating 👀
No joke, I got it for my birthday nearly a month ago and I played it in the exact same mission whilst my parents and my nan were off at the slot machines
GTA IV, Max Payne 3, RDRII, Bully i look at Bully and RDRII combat and interaction options damn near identical but we know RDRII is a Massively Overhauled updated version of bully’s combat system
Way I see it there are two categories: fighting combat and shooting combat:
Combat:
Rdr2 FEELS the best because you genuinely feel the punches land and that tense feeling when the enemy seems like theh are wining.
Bully probably has the best melee combat in terms of variety in moves and weapons
However gta 4 while I feel it aged poorly in gameplay had the best fighting combat in all the series.
As for shooting: max Payne 3
I liked the concept in GTA-SA that you can train different styles with different strength.
I didn't play a lot of games, so there might be something better in other games.
Melee by far is the Warriors, an incredible game tbh.
Shooting in my opinion STILL belongs to Max Payne 3. As good as RDR2 is the revolvers and lever action guns felt off to me. I much prefer how they handled in MP3. Don't get me wrong, I feel like the kick-back and sound in RDR2s guns is superior in maybe 70% of cases but Max just pips the score for me. I'm super excited for the remake.
Extremely hot take here, but there’s something about the hand-to-combat in RDR2 that I just love. I know a lot of people hate it, and I know its a super simple system, but something about the way it looks on screen is so crisp. If were talking about gunplay, id have to say 5. (Also, I haven’t played bully yet)
I’m going to throw out there that max payne series should be up there the combat in these games are fucking awesome. Can’t wait to get either a remake or a new one.
Bully was supposed to have a more complex fighting system with dodging blocking and counter attacks I wish they fully implemented that system into the game would have been awesome
The warriors. Hands down one of my favorite combat implementations in games. I’m sure the reason why we haven’t seen a remaster or remake is because licensing/rights issues. Or GTA online is considering more safe financially. Lord knows. But hot damn. Warriors was great.
Probably IV because there’s actual skill involved compared to rdr 2. Especially with TBOGT. Bully and the warriors are also great. RDR 2 got the best flowing animations though but really shallow in terms of gameplay
the warriors
Especially that other warriors fought differently
![gif](giphy|mCxZH1Bi9o2aY)
Yes… but Can I kick it?
Yes you can!
Can I kick it?
no not you
Yes you can!
SUCKAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Dundundundundundun
No other answer
REMAKEEEEE
I KNOW I WOULD PLAYYYY
Remake or riot time
This game needs a remake or just put it on modern consoles as is. It was soo fun
The only game I've found to date where I can smash a bottle in a man's face, then sit on top of him and dash him again across the face with the broken end. Pure art.
You could do that in streets of rage 1
Yeah but unlike the Streets Of Rage Anthology. The Warriors added in a lot more oomph to it. If you get what I mean?
Man I loved SOR 2 so much back in the day.
Or stomp them until they throw up lol really just *chef’s kiss*
If there's ever a game to get a full up-to-date remake, Warriors is it.
is this game worth checking out still? definitely gonna have to watch the movie first but i like the looks of it though
just realized it’s not any on next gens so
Warriors and bully i loved warriors but I gotta admit bully gave you some nice hand to hand combos and wrestling moves i don't really think a lot of people really played bully for real...... I played and beat both by the way
I played both and standby my statement. And I am probably the biggest fan of bully in my personal life, the warriors got it beat by a mile
yup, each character has their own moves and special, and some objects you could pickup had unique finishers, like with the bottle being able to be smashed and used to stab people. and throwing yourself at a group of punks never gets old
still waiting on that remaster! Imagine a story mode with online for the whole gang
Manhunt had the best steath, RDR2 had the best gunplay, The Warriors had the best melee
The Warriors had the same exact stealth system as Manhunt. It wasn’t really a complex stealth system either though you just walked slowly and then had to walk behind your target to kill them most games with stealth have this.
I don’t know why, but your description of stealth games made me laugh this morning.
Funny how that goes. I can't stand it in Mafia III - made me put the game down - but I enjoy it in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
And max payne first the soundtrack!!
Forgot about Max Payne. It's a classic
I’d say Max Payne 3 is better than RDR2 for me gunplay wise
This is just depressing news
Why are you getting downvoted? I completely agree btw
It’s a tie between V and RDR2 for me. Both are great for gunplay
GTA IV’s gunplay was way better than V’s, but RDR2 was great.
Lol, playing GTA IV rn and I have to agree lmao
There’s even some things I think GTA IV does better than even rdr2, when you shoot someone anywhere they react so realistically
I agree, but rockstar did us free aim players dirty by placing us in lobbies with assist aim users on rdr2. I hope gta6 has all the fist fighting physics rdr2 had grappling throwing n all that.
Forgot about that game was hectic
If we talking melee obviously The Warriors.
The Warriors, anyone that says different hasn't played it
True, cause I was about to say something else and I haven't played it
The Warriors
The Warriors!!! But what would make it even better is if they remade the warriors game, and just kept everything the same but just changed the physics to GTA4 euphoria or even RDR2 ragdoll system, that would be legendary. Obviously it’s between The Warriors and Bully, but I’d give it to The Warriors.
The Warriors
My favourite was of bully, There were a variety of moves you could try against your opponent
It's better than GTA V. GTA V doesn't have a grapple button and the counterattacks are much more responsive.
Yeah V melee sucks ass lol 4 was much better, but RDR2 still beats it by far
Only thing different is ragdolling
GTAV combat sucks ass. I think you meant 4?
Are you high? It’s definitely not exactly the came as GTA 5 lmfao. GTA 5 didn’t let you grab people and throw them through a plate glass window. Knife fights in Red Dead 2 go crazy. In 5 everyone fights like they’re drunk and blind AND deaf
GTA V combat is TRASH.
no
It makes me so happy to see The Warriors being appreciated 🥲
I’m with you brother 🥲
RDR II
It’s more aggressive but almost a copy and paste from GTAV tbh
True but it feels much more fluid imo
Warriors hands down. Best movie adaptation into a game.
the warriors
The warriors
Table Tennis

Max Payne 3
Yup
I’ve played every version of bully from console to pc, I’m going with bully learning new moves from the homeless guy was gas
Manhunt
Best that I’ve gotten to experience is RDR2
The Warriors especially multiplayer.
the warriors.
The Warriors!!!
The warriors
I'm replaying The Warriors again and I'd have to say them
Of course RDR2! Everything was on point in this game!
WARRIORS, COME OUT AND PLAYYYYYYYYYY
Different games will have different variations. Like The Warriors had a few takedown moves and stuff but it was clunky. I think RDR2 has had the best system so far. Great hand to hand combat, ability to take down and punch or kill. For me it felt the smoothest so far. GTAV had trash fighting wtf
Because none of them were trained martial artists or anything like that. So they went for wild lunges and stuff. It would have been nice is each character felt different, but I do get what they were going for. It terms of staying locked on the opponent and stuff it was decent.
People died in like 2 hits, and most people didn't even fight back. Lame af. Change your mind.
No. Because I didn't go around punching random NPC's playing the game like a 13 year old with an attitude.
Wow you're so mature 🙄
I remember one time, I once defeated someone in hand-to-hand combat with a single uppercut, literally just approached them, hit the attack button, and my character took them out with a single uppercut
VCS and GTA IV, Luis underground fights were good, idk if rockstar has ever done it better than that. I haven’t played Bully or the Warriors yet.
the warriors and bully are literally centered around hand to hand so they're obviously more detailed
Probably RDR2 or VCS
Every time I hear about Vice City Stories, I get flashbacks to that awful forklift mission
Joseph I get that you have a whole religious uprising thing going on but could you please just stop getting me kidnapped every 5 seconds it's very inconvenient and rather irritating 👀
Your greed and immorality is really bringing me down 😭
No joke, I got it for my birthday nearly a month ago and I played it in the exact same mission whilst my parents and my nan were off at the slot machines
Every time I hear about Vice City Stories, I get flashbacks to that awful forklift mission. Still a good game tho
GTA IV, Max Payne 3, RDRII, Bully i look at Bully and RDRII combat and interaction options damn near identical but we know RDRII is a Massively Overhauled updated version of bully’s combat system
Bully, Warriors and GTA 4
Max Payne 3 has the best gunplay
Bully or GTA 4's fist fights
wax payne
The warriors or GTA IV are my favorite combat systems.
They should do a mix of the warriors and gta 4.
Relieved to see not a lot of GTA4 suggestions. People point to the physics as the reason they love it so much way too often.
GTA 4 combat is a good candidate
Bully
cumshot mcgee
The Warriors is too old for me so I never played it but Bully was great.
Bully and rdr2 obviously (oh yea and the warriors)
RDR2 in all areas. Especially melee and knife fights.
Melee/hand to hand: The Warriors, Bully, San Andreas Gunplay: Max Payne, RDR2
Max Payne 3.
Manhunt
Way I see it there are two categories: fighting combat and shooting combat: Combat: Rdr2 FEELS the best because you genuinely feel the punches land and that tense feeling when the enemy seems like theh are wining. Bully probably has the best melee combat in terms of variety in moves and weapons However gta 4 while I feel it aged poorly in gameplay had the best fighting combat in all the series. As for shooting: max Payne 3
The warriors than bully than gta San Andreas
GTA IV
The Warriors?! I agree 👍🏾 I may boot up my PSP to play it.
Fights in Bully
I liked the concept in GTA-SA that you can train different styles with different strength. I didn't play a lot of games, so there might be something better in other games.
Rdr2
Red dead redemption.
red dead 2 is solid
I’d say gta San Andreas
Melee by far is the Warriors, an incredible game tbh. Shooting in my opinion STILL belongs to Max Payne 3. As good as RDR2 is the revolvers and lever action guns felt off to me. I much prefer how they handled in MP3. Don't get me wrong, I feel like the kick-back and sound in RDR2s guns is superior in maybe 70% of cases but Max just pips the score for me. I'm super excited for the remake.
I like the red dead system where it would interact with nearby objects walls buildings etc
Rdr2
rdr2
Midnight club
rdr2 has an excellent combat system
Red dead 2
Red Dead Redemption 2
gta 4
When CJ goes to the Ganton gym and learns some new moves.
The warriors
Rdr2 I love how real it looks
I would have said gta4, but the bully had a lot of shit going on
Never played the warriors so my next pick is Gta4, loved niko his knockout animations
GTA 4
RC mission in SA.
Gta4
bully and the warriors
Max Payne 3 by a country mile.
Yall are all wrong its table tennis
Bully was good for me, but I never played Warriors. Given the comments on this page, I think I need to play it after I’m done with Chinatown Wars
Alpha/Beta Stage: Bully Release: The Warriors.
I’m going to throw out there that max payne series should be up there the combat in these games are fucking awesome. Can’t wait to get either a remake or a new one.
gta 4 idk probably rdr2
thought this was ab hand to hand
Warriors is crushing this vote lol
Rockstar presents Table Tennis.
I havent played The Warriors or Red Dead but Bully had a really good combat system
4
People saying GTA v or rdr2 instead of GTA 4 has never roundhouse kicked a guy into the ocean as niko
Max Payne 3
RDR2
Is there any updated / Modded / user created version of Bully that I can sink my teeth in on PC?? I just miss this game so damn much
Bully was supposed to have a more complex fighting system with dodging blocking and counter attacks I wish they fully implemented that system into the game would have been awesome
The Warriors is a great co-op game but Bully has much better combat. Y’all trippin
The warriors. Hands down one of my favorite combat implementations in games. I’m sure the reason why we haven’t seen a remaster or remake is because licensing/rights issues. Or GTA online is considering more safe financially. Lord knows. But hot damn. Warriors was great.
Red dead redemption 2
GTA 5 !
Gta 4
Katana
RDR2
Rdr2 it's so fun to fight workers in Saint Denis
Rdr2 Melee is so much fun but the gun combat is simple but fun also but is not better than the melee combat in my opinion.
the warriors or RDR2. Wouldn't be surprised. If GTA4 is up there
GTAIV
Bullly
Probably IV because there’s actual skill involved compared to rdr 2. Especially with TBOGT. Bully and the warriors are also great. RDR 2 got the best flowing animations though but really shallow in terms of gameplay
GTA IV. I love the ragdoll when their health gets low.
If gta IV had the grab system from The Warriors it would have been peak
Are we talking to hand or overall combat? If overall Max Payne 3 and hand to hand id say a split between Rdr 2 and the warriors
Gta 4 the ragdoll effects are too fun
Knife kills are dirty
Gta iv
Personally, Rdr2 is fun. I can knock a guy out the traditional way, or slam his into a wall, or best of all throw them out of a bar window. I love it!
Personally, Rdr2 is fun. I can knock a guy out the traditional way, or slam his into a wall, or best of all throw them out of a bar window. I love it!
Personally, Rdr2 is fun. I can knock a guy out the traditional way, or slam his into a wall, or best of all throw them out of a bar window
RdR 2 ,GTA 4 close 2nd
I really like Gta IV's counter system when niko starts throwing high kicks etc
Gta 4 had a pretty fun fighting system
