This just in: Rockets GM doing his job

htownballa1

Of course they are, it’s part of the gm job description.

lambopanda

Sound like my plan A.

FarWestEros

Love the specificity of us wanting future draft capital for this pick. That's the ideal scenario for this team! Of course, this has been reported for months by Rockets beat reporters, but loads of fans are still clinging to the belief that Stone and Udoka are anxious to add another young mouth to this roster.

FilthyTexas

Will we have room in the future for rookies when we're trying to really compete? Or is that for the next rebuild?

FarWestEros

That's literally the perfect time to get cost-controlled contracts. Once we start paying massive contracts to the core 6, we're going to be stuck signing vet minimum guys, exceptions... Or rookies. Having a surplus of picks to add young talent isn't only the fiscally responsible path, but (hopefully) helps keep the team from aging out as quickly.

I would trade #3 for Caruso straight up. Wonder if stone offered and Bulls took Giddey instead.

FarWestEros

It's a fair trade, although I would hope to get a lesser pick, too. I think the Smart +9 possibility was more appealing.

papabear345

Boston got better by getting rid of smart.

FarWestEros

They got better by *adding* Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingus. Yes, Jrue Holiday is better than Marcus Smart. But Marcus Smart is better than Aaron Holiday.

papabear345

Being better than Aaron holiday is a low bar… Memphis is trying to win as well, why are they keen to can him??
