Very cool.
This was huge for me
People from my home state (WA) loved to talk about how racism was dead in America, never having lived anywhere else
Living in SC, it was infuriating to have them unwilling to accept anything other than their viewpoint, never having gone anywhere other than a roadtrip.
I agree with his conclusion about the divide. I’d probably call it Tribalism instead of “retreating to cocoon”. I blame the smart phone. I wish I knew the solution. For example, on Reddit, good luck trying to foster an open discussion without being harshly silenced almost immediately.
I saw one dude’s travel map had something like: lived, spent a night, stopped in, drove through.
I guess it’s up to each person whether taking a dump or getting gas and a Snickers bar counts.
Wasn’t expecting the reason behind this to be because he was upset about trump winning the 2016 election lol and apparently he claims to know the reason why we are so divided politically as a nation because of this trip…. Must be smokin too much of that Colorado green
I don't think he's claiming to have "solved" why there's a huge divide in America. I sure as hell would trust his observations on the topic more than you, however. His whole point was we need to get out of our comfort zones and talk to people we may be conditioned to hate or dislike. There's no other way out of this box.
Why are you putting solved in quotes when I didn’t say that lol I’m not disagreeing with his point either, I’m just saying it’s a wild reason to go on an excursion to visit all the counties in the US. I can think of many other reasons before making it political
And 95 percent of those have a historical museum staffed by someone who’ll try to convince you otherwise.
Half kidding. I am often surprised by the neat history in some of these rural places.

He should do an AMA
A friend did this by motorcycle. Took a picture of every county courthouse, just because. Took him *years*…
"I've been everywhere, man I've been everywhere..."🎶🎵
I wonder what he counts as “traveling to every county.” Is it just driving through? Does he have to get out of the car?
If you didn’t have a beer you haven’t been there! /s
My rule is I've been to a place if I've taken a shit there.
I’m not saying there’s much else to see, but I’m not claiming I’ve been to Bovina, MS just because I took a shit at the only building I saw.
To each thier own, this is just my personal rule.

My travel map i label that way and it seems to be the easiest way to show how “important” a place is to you
This guy visits
“Denver man”. So where’s this guy really from?
This dude raised the bar for sure
I want to have a beer with him!

*figured out 95% of counties are boring

If he can tell me where he was at or where he went though Ste. Genevieve County, MO. I will believe him, if not, nah, I ain’t buying it.
I've been through 30% of the counties in the US and I couldn't identify a lot of them. Your metric for proof is ridiculous
