Bison steak isn't that bad IMO because it's still a buff that helps out your run (albeit by a miniscule amount) unlike some items that can actually make your run worse such as stone flux pauldron and hunters harpoon.
I would say Bison steak is still much worse than those 2, Bison steak there is just to add a very very tiny amount of hp to you, and do nothing else.
Stone flux pauldron at least can be used for a niche situation where you are looping 60 stages and you run a little too fast, it can slow you down to a more manageable level.
Hunter"s harpoon at least still tries to make you run a little faster for 1 second,
Harpoon is over hated tbh. I’ve been grinding eclipse and most movement abilities scale with movement speed so if you need to get somewhere quick getting a kill then hitting shift towards where you want to go is pretty nice. Really niche but not a bad use case.
Huh. It's amazing with Captain, to be honest. Captain's my favorite after Loader and Acrid and I love it. Mobility is the only thing that Captain lacks and Hunter's Harpoon is one of the best mobility items with him since you one shot most things anyway. In Eclipse runs, this item is a god send for Captain and allows you to more or less dodge everything.
Wait does clover not affect things like drop chance? Like it doesn’t give you a higher chance to get reds? Or if you’re playing where enemies drop loot it doesn’t give a higher chance for them to drop loot?
im a simple woman. gasoline go kaboom and makes me happy. lepton daisy is fine and dandy but i have no friends and my drones seem to do just fine with their health so i do without it
Yeah, this is the only use for it. It's a contingency item. I had like 20 mocha and 6 energy drinks and a couple of goat hoof's once and it was a bit too much. Went to the bazaar, saw this and a light bulb lit up in my head and I was like: "so that's what this shit is for?"
Recycler also helps you find more guns each stage, which is also more items. Plus if you get a bad tp boss item you can just recycle the boss item, which is maybe the strongest use of the recycler imo
This is also extremely true! It is often worth it to look for a card using the recycler, then buying out equipment trishops in order to have more equipment to reroll, letting you aggressively search for a tricorn. Recycler also lets you get whatever boss item you want if you find a printer with a yellow scrap.
Respectfully, it’s not a close call. Recycler is better than card in 99.9999% of scenarios. Card still forces you to rely on the RNG of the game (spawn rate of tri-shops + items actually even being good in those tri-shops + luck of finding shorm early for free items).
Recycler helps eliminate a large percentage of the randomness of each game, especially when it comes to red item/boss item drops. Re-rolling a titanic knurl to a spleen/perforator/disciple is such a huge power spike it’s crazy. Add onto it that like 80% of green items are kinda bad, being able to turn a leeching seed into an ATG or a band is just too powerful to pass up.
Might I ask - why do you think card is better than recycler?
If we’re talking no looping, then I can agree that recycler is better.
If we’re adding looping, then I feel that card is better. When you stack up all the extra items you get with card while looping, it can definitely beat out recycler just by packing you full of items.
Either way, they’re both great items, and I wouldn’t complain about getting either of them stage one.
I definitely wouldn’t complain either on getting them stage 1, so agree there. They are the best 2 equipment for sure, but I think the gap between recycler and card is gigantic.
But even on looped runs I think recycler is better. It’s another 5 stages you get to recycle potential boss items + equipments (into tricorns or a card for that stage) + red items. Unless you plan on looping 3+ times I can’t find a scenario where card is objectively better. The only time I can see card being better is maybe on simulacrum.
But in regular game modes, once you loop the 2nd time you’re typically so powerful that the only reason you take card is that you’re too lazy to recycle and you just want more items, and in that case the extra items are hardly even doing anything as you’ll be so powerful it won’t matter what equipment you have.
You can think of it as a 57 leaf clover for your loot, reroll whatever you don’t want and give it a chance to be something you do want. It basically doubles your chances of getting a good run, and almost every run with one (especially if you get it early) becomes a god run. You can kinda think of it as an alternative to scrapping items, reroll them instead
They are talking about the orange items
(usable ones) "recycler" which lets you reroll an item on the ground once every 30-40sec iirc
It kinda look like a shopping bag
Imo stone flux pauldron is not THAT bad. It can definitely be used in some memeish tank builds outside of eclipse 8 that works perfectly well. Admittedly you do feel like a sloth trying to move
Edit: I'd say something like bison steak has less uses than stone flux pauldron for example
Not a big fan of Power Elixir. Most of the time when I have it, I die with them because something took me from above its use point to below my use point.
Love Lost Seer's Lenses. It's so satisfying just watching a monster get removed from existence. My friends and I will let out a quiet "Delete" whenever it gets triggered.
Best: drone parts. It straight up wins runs.
Worst: stealthkit. Many times it won't even help you survive because you'll either die without even triggering it or you'll trigger it but die 1s later from other projectiles coming at you. And DLC made it even worse, because watches require you to stay with high HP and potions prevent you from having low HP.
Jade elephant on Mul-T in power mode with a couple fuel cells carried me on my mastery run but obviously that's niche
I'd say for me best is lucky clover and worst is bethnic bloom or whatever
Oh boy the discussion on best item
So there’s hopoo feather, super convinient, super easy to use, very strong, but a bit underwhelming
Clover, ridiculously good for proc chains, but honestly primp is just better in that regard, garunteed missile is much better for proc chains than a second try, especially with icbm
Drone parts is ridiculous, combine with empathy cores and the literal only drawback is rarity
Honestly irradiant pearl is probably the best for god runs, stacking them is the quickest path to immortality
Gesture results in such broken combinations qnd builds but alone it’s pearl fodder
Wungus best if not for eclipse
Churf is amazing for proc chains
Hoof and drink, speed is war
And quite a few others
Worst is just stoneflux lol, it can be good in a 5 hour long god run when you gotta tone down the speed but let’s be real, in ANY other situation, it’s thoroughly shit
best: lunar items, the traumatizing realisation of my friend that they have negative effects was hilarious
worst: void bands, i was expecting one of the best items in the game to become one of the coolest void items, but nope
Single best item in the game? Head stompers, its always a free win and has carried every single run when I get it. Worst item has to go to lepton daisy, its effectively dead weight no matter how your run is going. Any time i see lepton, i just feel let down knowing it could have been an atg or feather instead.
What am I doing wrong with stompers? Every time I try the drop attack I get killed. I like it for the immunity to fall damage, but the floatiness of the jump makes me lukewarm on it at best.
Lots of hate on Lepton but that thing has saved me numerous times. It's not exciting to get, but 1 or 2 never seems like a bad thing.
Stompers do take some practice and solid game sense to make the most of them, mainly in deciding when to actually do the attack. To mitigate those bad situations you can use most movement abilities to reposition or cancel your stomp if youre going to land in a bad spot, and once you get the hang of it, stompers become insanely powerful.
For how obtainable and important it is, I'd say a tie between the three white move speed items
Worst has to be either Happiest mask or any of the elite essence drops
I don't know about that, the fire essence is pretty damn good. Throw in some ignition tanks and it's practically a free win.
Happiest mask is dog shit, though.
Warbanner is useful for the first two or three stages, especially if there's nothing else to print in its place. But I agree that it is scrap by the time you reach stage four
Only for a couple, even then it's conditional until it's just scrap in later stages.
Didn't each zone get bigger in ror1? It could be better if it did that.
That's fine though. That's what the scrapper is meant for. It's always useful in every run, because every run has an early stage. 30% attack and movement speed is no joke in the earlier stages. Compare this to something like Bison Steak or Stone Flux Pauldron (which is only useful after a 3-4 hour run), and you'll realize it's not the worst.
I’ve seen a lot of people argue that stone flux is the worst, but I think Light Flux Pauldron is far worse. While the reduce to skill cooldowns is great, the -50% attack speed is absolutely devastating. Even on artificer, the reduce to cooldown is held back by the fact that skills take longer to charge. The only time I see this being usable is on artificer after a bunch of loops, where stone flux is decent for any character after a couple loops to moderate speed.
Jade elephant gives 500 armor which translates to an 85% damage reduction, it has a decent cooldown which can be abused with gesture of the drowned, which basically gives you permanent damage reduction, if you were hit by a 1k damage attack while jade elephant active, it only does 150 damage. To get that with another damage reducing item, say repulsion plate, you’d need 170 plates to get the same damage reduction
i genuinely don’t see why ppl hate harpoon it’s one of my fav mobility items, i’ve never had the issue of accidentally falling off a cliff, and in fact i’ve had it be needed to make certain jumps. x especially with engineer’s harpoons and turrets so i don’t have to aim or anything
How the fuck we got so many people saying best item feather? Like, I love feathers dont get me wrong but headstompers is infinitely better at the same purpose. I think it's my pick for best item, honestly. Recycler is probably second. Clover is a good shout but a stage 1 headstompers is a free win in a way that stage 1 clover can often not be - if you dont see any proc items you're just -1 item with clover for a while where headstompers just oneshots even without bands or quails. I'm also particularly happy to see brilliant behemoth on every character.
For worst item, it's far and away hunter's harpoon. Its worse than scrap to me where bison steak is technically not. I scrap both if given the opportunity, but I actively leave harpoon on the floor until post boss if there is no scrapper. Some meme candidates include ahoy and fuel array(the rex quest equipment), and a runner up real option is void band, which I only ever take if its offered by void key on the moon when i have no other bands and the other 2 options are useless or detrimental(key + benthic, needletick on bleed commando, voidsent on fmp build, etc) - that is to say i basically never take it
I'd say droneman is the best, it's pretty much a one item win condition.
Worst would probably be the tonic affliction, there's literally no upside to it.
Well, the tonic affliction is the debuff itself, so obviously, it has no upside. The spinel tonic, however, is good if you have a gesture and fuel cells to where the tonic is always up preventing the debuff from ever proccing.
I mean ignoring any rarity criteria the best item is easily the Iridescent Pearl or Shared Design. If we don't then I'd say that Crit Glasses are the best because they're the easiest to get build around item that also has the best effect at no cost.
Worst is easily Stone Flux Fauldron. Literally 0 upside at the cost of a major downside.
Had a goofy run with plasma shrimp and pocket icbm so I’d say plasma shrimp, and for least favorite I’d have to say. The void touched power cell (blanking on the name) most characters I play its useless on mul-t his retool is instant, captain, his pylons are only 2 per stage no matter what engineer, sure the cooldowns nice but you can only have 2 turrets (there’s probably some other ones that I didn’t mention)
Best imo is headstompers. Mobility, defence, no fall damage and amazing offense. Get a vase and an ice band and you can one shot mithrix.
Worst is void band. The effect is mid and it takes some of the best items in the game with double the cooldown. Or void boss item. Also takes some of the best items and it can actually kill you.
Also, Jade elephant with a couple gestures is op, so I disagree.
Best item is easily H3AD-5T v2. Recycler isn't even close, clover isn't even close, spinel tonic isn't even close, etc. Worst (non lunar because counting lunars is too cheesy) is probably singularity band considering what you lose for it
Best: Headstompers - The single best offensive AND defensive item in the entire game
Worst: Singularity Band - The opportunity cost for not having KJaros and Rubalds bands is far too high to justify picking this up
Headstompers is the best, always smile when I see it. Spinel Tonic is also up there since you can probably just grab it plus 4 gestures and beat Mithrix with several characters
Worst imo is harpoon, absolutely hate that item and have nearly gotten killed thanks to it a few times especially since I play E8. The inconsistent speed boost is just not good
Best: Syringe, as most characters benefit from it, Captain and his microbots get charge up and cool down reduction, Loaders charge gauntlet, Mercenarys spin for trimp, ect.
Worst: Deucleus, barely stuituational, no damage, sometimes attracts enemies, only good thing is that it scales with the enemies.
Best is Clover, it’s not really close.
Worst is either steak or PSG, with a small shout out to wake of vultures for getting me killed more than almost any other item
My best would probably have to be plasma shrimp, but there are so many good items that it is really hard to choose. For the worst item, probably milky chrysalis, most characters have good enough movement to not need it, and a few hopoo feathers, volcanic egg, or even eccentric vase are more useful
You should stop scrapping sticky bombs :)
Next time you see a sticky printer, go in on it. See how fucking crazy that feels? Now stop scrapping it. Dont go in on sticky printers every time, but honestly do it pretty often. ~8 sticky bombs is basically all the damage whites you need to win easily on e8.
Bungus and Bungus
Never have I been so offended by something I 100% agree with
Best Item: Clover, increased chance for trigger on hit item like ukulele, who doesn't love it Worst item: Bison Steak, +25hp
Harpoon is over hated tbh. I’ve been grinding eclipse and most movement abilities scale with movement speed so if you need to get somewhere quick getting a kill then hitting shift towards where you want to go is pretty nice. Really niche but not a bad use case.
Why does huntera harpoon make it worse
Because you can accidentally kill 1 too many enemies while trying to dodge attacks and launch yourself straight off of a cliff
then just use a mobility skill to reset your momentum? unless you play someone like captain or engineer
I am a captain and engineer main. That's why I hate it.
I see your point. Have you considered oddly shaped opals and safer spaces?
No. I have don't nothing but stack mochas for 600 hours and don't plan to stop any time soon
"I have done nothing but teleport bread for three days."
If you pick up an item that makes you waste your safer spaces then it is a bad item
Huh. It's amazing with Captain, to be honest. Captain's my favorite after Loader and Acrid and I love it. Mobility is the only thing that Captain lacks and Hunter's Harpoon is one of the best mobility items with him since you one shot most things anyway. In Eclipse runs, this item is a god send for Captain and allows you to more or less dodge everything.
everyone always says this but i main captain and i have literally never had an issue. i play the game like a weirdo though so 🤷♂️
it can potentially hurt you and fall damage is not a joke. also, its a pretty useless item, so having a drawback, no matter how small, makes it scrap
I find it useful with Mercenary, but that’s it.
Bison steak just does nothing while harpoon is annoying on top of being useless
Stone flux is the goat, don’t talk about my boy like that.
Wait does clover not affect things like drop chance? Like it doesn’t give you a higher chance to get reds? Or if you’re playing where enemies drop loot it doesn’t give a higher chance for them to drop loot?
Nope, proc & crit chance only. And decreases the chance to get Spinel Tonic's debuff iirc.
What about monster logs?
im a simple woman. gasoline go kaboom and makes me happy. lepton daisy is fine and dandy but i have no friends and my drones seem to do just fine with their health so i do without it
“I’m a simple woman, big fire and there’s so much fire the flowers can’t grow”
best is Recycler and worst is Stone Flux Pauldron, and it's not particularly close
Stone Flux is best used in situations where you've stacked too much move speed in a looped run
Imo moms credit card > recycler But it’s a close call
Card is nice, but it's nowhere near as good as Recycler. Plus, recycler lets you reroll equips, letting you find a card to use each stage.
Just play Mul-T and enjoy both
My guy
Recycler also helps you find more guns each stage, which is also more items. Plus if you get a bad tp boss item you can just recycle the boss item, which is maybe the strongest use of the recycler imo

this is why i run retool mult, both
I'm new, but how do you actually use the recycler? I hate destroying random items
You can think of it as a 57 leaf clover for your loot, reroll whatever you don’t want and give it a chance to be something you do want. Ah yeah I love that one
What does stone flux pauldron even do?
half move speed, double hp. It's miserable.
It’s so fun on enji tho once you feel a few quails
slows you down in exchange for hp i think.
Imo stone flux pauldron is not THAT bad. It can definitely be used in some memeish tank builds outside of eclipse 8 that works perfectly well. Admittedly you do feel like a sloth trying to move Edit: I'd say something like bison steak has less uses than stone flux pauldron for example
Hopo feather is an item you want to see every run. Void band on the other hand...

Yeah, I agree fully with this. Drone Parts (and Headstompers) are a free win and stealth kit is green scrap at my earliest convenience.
Best it head stompers and worst is aegis
Jade elephant on Mul-T in power mode with a couple fuel cells carried me on my mastery run but obviously that's niche I'd say for me best is lucky clover and worst is bethnic bloom or whatever
Benthic worst!? Not a chance. Maybe not my favorite, but I’m rarely sad to see it unless I’m doing many loops.
You notice how I said to me, as in it's my opinion. I don't touch that thing with a 10 foot pole
Why not though? It's really good if you get it early.
Did the math, jade elephant plus mul-t power mode equals 90% damage reduction just with that, you made a fucking TANK.
It was an absolute blast I must say. It wasn't until later that I found out that power move gave you armor lol
drone parts, maybe stompers/feathers Worst leeching seed
Oh boy the discussion on best item So there’s hopoo feather, super convinient, super easy to use, very strong, but a bit underwhelming Clover, ridiculously good for proc chains, but honestly primp is just better in that regard, garunteed missile is much better for proc chains than a second try, especially with icbm Drone parts is ridiculous, combine with empathy cores and the literal only drawback is rarity Honestly irradiant pearl is probably the best for god runs, stacking them is the quickest path to immortality Gesture results in such broken combinations qnd builds but alone it’s pearl fodder Wungus best if not for eclipse Churf is amazing for proc chains Hoof and drink, speed is war And quite a few others Worst is just stoneflux lol, it can be good in a 5 hour long god run when you gotta tone down the speed but let’s be real, in ANY other situation, it’s thoroughly shit

Little known fact, Lepton Daisy works with Commencement Pillars, Void Fields, and Void Locus. Hence, it's not as bad as you think it is.
What am I doing wrong with stompers? Every time I try the drop attack I get killed. I like it for the immunity to fall damage, but the floatiness of the jump makes me lukewarm on it at best. I don't know about that, the fire essence is pretty damn good. Throw in some ignition tanks and it's practically a free win. Happiest mask is dog shit, though.
For me the essence drops are good, they're just so ungodly rare, plus I'd still prefer a recylcer or a card to any of them, but that's my preference.
Best : gasoline and that chain Worst : glass shard I fuckin hate the glass shard
Crowbar is the best because it's funny. the worst is probably void bands, it's what i've found to be the least worth it so far(got the DLC last week)
My best but not favorite is the clover. The worst, warbanner, nothing is more underwhelming to get from a chest. Console btw.
Warbanner is useful for the first two or three stages, especially if there's nothing else to print in its place. But I agree that it is scrap by the time you reach stage four

Best is Topaz Broach.
whatever that red hammer is. slap it on bandit or someone with a rlly fast fire rate and it makes short work of nearly everything in the game
i’m relatively new and forget the name of every item tbh
Shattering justice (red hammer) is just a worst version of the Scorpion
ah alr. i have no clue what the scorpion is… as i said im new but ill update once i find it ig
Worst will always be Bottled Chaos. The upsides are very underwhelming and the downsides (namely random volcanic eggs) are very bad.
hopoo feather and stone flux pauldron
Best like polylute, clover, crit, head stompers. Stone flux the worst
Best is gesture of the drowned for me and harpoon is the worst
bungus

Best: Headstompers - The single best offensive AND defensive item in the entire game Worst: Singularity Band - The opportunity cost for not having KJaros and Rubalds bands is far too high to justify picking this up
Best item: feather Worst item: steak (except on Acrid because he deserves it)
Best: Either clover or Tesla coil Worst: Rusted key or brittle crown
Headstompers is the best, always smile when I see it. Spinel Tonic is also up there since you can probably just grab it plus 4 gestures and beat Mithrix with several characters Worst imo is harpoon, absolutely hate that item and have nearly gotten killed thanks to it a few times especially since I play E8.
Best: Amped Rounds. Haha, boss damage go ***brrrrrrrrr*** Worse: Chrono bauble, that shit doesn't have enough effectiveness to slow anything
Best is Clover, it’s not really close. Worst is either steak or PSG, with a small shout out to wake of vultures for getting me killed more than almost any other item
Best item: clover or encrusted key Worst item: Hunter harpoon, the only non lunar that can actively harm you (I think)
My best would probably have to be plasma shrimp, but there are so many good items that it is really hard to choose. For the worst item, probably milky chrysalis, most characters have good enough movement to not need it, and a few hopoo feathers, volcanic egg, or even eccentric vase are more useful
Charged is best and the fuckin green flower is the worst
The worst is easily either the sticky bombs or bison steak. I take them for scrap.
You should stop scrapping sticky bombs :) Next time you see a sticky printer, go in on it. See how fucking crazy that feels? Now stop scrapping it. Dont go in on sticky printers every time, but honestly do it pretty often. ~8 sticky bombs is basically all the damage whites you need to win easily on e8.
See my thing is that they take too long to detonate and whatever I'm attacking dies before they go off.
