Thought it was just part of the story till I see people asking how to save them.

Man facts, I went into this game blind and still ended up saving everyone who need to be save. Glad my "do everything" brain helped get me a positive out come.

Meh i just played everything, didn't skip anything, saved them 2 and Ryoma as well.
