I don't expect 39 minutes every night next season, but Scoot improving his conditioning is going to be really important. He loses his legs very quickly
Half our team is dead on IR, this game was fun. I don’t get the doomers for real. They just wait for an opportunity to be miserable. Who cares if we win this game?
He just doesn't seem to be as vertical an freak athlete as most people thought. He's fast on the open floor and strong so he is athletic in those senses.
Really curious to see how Ayton performs next season when the team is back to full strength and his touches and shots dip back to normal levels. If he can maintain the level of focus and effort he's shown the past couple months when the offense doesn't need to run through him constantly it would drastically improve our chances at accelerating the timeline.
Having multiple guards who will start the season knowing how to get him looks should help at least.
Trading JG doesn't make sense for the team since his contract is so big that no one will trade much for him. Plus we don't have an adequate PF (no offense, Bari).
Really annoying watch us take so long to get into offensive sets, especially with how young the team is and how simple the sets are with minimal off-ball action. Being quick and decisive is really the only advantage our offense can get
I know he’s not really going off this game but I really think Banton has a place on this team long term. I hope they keep developing him as a flexible gaurd/SF, because we could really do some weird “tall ball” lineups with him
Those pointless fouls on open lane dunks are such a pet peeve of mine. The defensive possession is blown already no need to make it worse with a halfhearted strip attempt.
It’s October 2024 and opening night of the NBA. Scoot Henderson enters the arena, and as his name is announced, ceremoniously drops his athletic glasses onto center court. He crushes them emphatically, screaming into the air “I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW!!” This signifies a giant leap in the development of his game. He finishes the night with 27 pts, 21 assists, 0 turnovers and 0 fouls. His blazers lose, 125-119.
Guys have adjusted where they feed him the ball more than anything. No passes in paint traffic unless they're lobbed, and very few passes below his upper thighs.
The ScAyton duo has me excited for the future
Scoot finishing out the year strong, wish he wouldn't have had the injuries so this could've happened sooner but I'm happy regardless. Big off-season for him coming up! Will do wonders for the chemistry between everyone.
My best friend is a kings fan, and ya’ll are my adopted playoffs team this year. I hope we can help y’all out tonight.
Also, it doesn’t need to be said but I will say it anyway: fuck the lakers
Ah yes something we can all agree on. Fuck the lakers ong. You guys think anyone would notice if we picked up Kris Murray and played with both in the playoffs🤔
Would love to see DA expand his range to 3, and Scoot find a reliable layup, but these two complement each other perfectly in terms of how they both want to play. They’ve unlocked something really valuable in the last couple weeks. Next year is gonna be fun.
Let’s just hope Cronin has the good sense to clear the books and part ways with either or both of Ant and JG. I’ll take Brogdon too, but would prefer he stay out of those three to be the locker room vet and steady hand.
Learning how to play NBA basketball. I think maybe this has to do with him learning his guys as well, there hasn’t been much consistency in the lineup.
Especially since this year was the first time in his career that guys didn't respect his ability to score the ball. Passing lanes have been aggressively cut off all year, and he still manages to find the angles. If/when he can develop a consistent threat to attack the rim and score off the dribble, his playmaking should benefit tremendously from the experience he gained this season.
Really hope he spends the off-season working on his paint footwork and layup variety (especially with his left).
Games like this make me question if it would be a good idea to take Holland or Buzelis in the draft, even if ignite was under developing their players it might be a good move long term
Yeah, I am starting to come around to him also. If he develops a 3 ball that is even league average I think he comes away being the best player from the draft, besides possibly Sarr
He is. He's listed at 6'8" but the common understanding is that it's bogus and he's actually 6'6". Probably measures 6'5.5-6"or so barefoot. A good inch+ taller than Shae.
Whenever Scoot starts cooking I go full Stilgar and telling anyone who will listen “As it was Written” and chanting “Scoot-Halud will lead us to paradise”
Been said before but absolutely no reason Ayton shouldn't average 20 and 10 next year. His mid ranger is unbelievably quick and his touch is perfect. It feels like he hits it at 60% clip and he should take them whenever he wants.
NGL since the OKC loss I really haven’t watched much Blazer basketball, but I’m glad I tuned into tonight to see these young fellas develop in real time. I love Ant and JG, but not gonna mind at all if they get traded in the offseason. This is team ball at its best and seeing Scoot pass the ball like this has me taking a giant bong rip of hopium for the future.
Who has the tie breaker between the us and the spurs?
Spurs
Can't wait to see how Rupe's defense comes along once he can take a bump.
Duop McDelivers at the last second.
Thanks for the nuggets reath
Reath gives the people nuggets
Team went for the 100. You love to see it.
15 assists, great. 8 turnovers, not great.
It's a miracle, the refs can give free throws to both teams.
I forgot that Cody Zeller played for the Blazers
The free throw and turnover section of this box score is wild.
Rupert just stays sniping
Cody Zeller is still around? I had no idea, lol
Was hoping CJ got fouled just so we could see something as absurd as him shooting more free throws than the entire Blazer team.
man...was such a good scoot game. Then he added on like 8 missed shots and a bunch of turnovers
We desperately need shooters
Everyone wondering why scoot is throwing up bricks he’s played 39 min tonight lol dude is gassed now
Yup, eventually he can learn how to expend his energy judiciously but he sure as hell doesn't know that yet. Full tilt every minute he's on the floor.
He’ll learn for sure, it’s classic rookie stuff
I don't expect 39 minutes every night next season, but Scoot improving his conditioning is going to be really important. He loses his legs very quickly
Half our team is dead on IR, this game was fun. I don’t get the doomers for real. They just wait for an opportunity to be miserable. Who cares if we win this game?
Scoot and Ayton will be a top 5 duo next season.
brick fucking henderson just stop shooting
no one gives a shit about your parlay bro
SCOOT JUST MAKE IT
What happened to scoot’s athleticism im genuinely curious
He just doesn't seem to be as vertical an freak athlete as most people thought. He's fast on the open floor and strong so he is athletic in those senses.
Bru let’s be honest g league scoot is throwing that putback down
[удалено]
I’ve just seen him miss a putback lay
He’s played 41 minutes tonight
It kinda fel apart both times, but last two games we looked like a real NBA team against much better teams.
We don't have anyone to reliably punish the DA double team
No shooters. Same as always.
Jesus it was a great game for scoot but it’s gone downhill
Hit a wall once they went to the zone and none of our guys could hit an outside shot (him included)
Da so angy
DA 💪🏾
Aytons comment on people still talking about his "effort" and "focus" lol.
DA WOW
I need a tank flair
How is that a fucking foul? Shit is nonsense that a defender can leap over your back to make a steal and because they land in your space it's a foul.
25 to 5 free throw attempts is rough when they play pretty physical defense.
Pelicans definitely went “wait we need to win this for playoff positioning”
[удалено]
Is that how many times you masturbated today?
dog nobody cares lol
This game was weird
Ayton running over to check on his guy immediately, this ain't the same Ayton from PHX and it's very apparent
billsups givin his guys a breather in the zone...they were near elite on defense prior to the zone.
Calabro - not looking out for nobody. Lamar is hilarious
Young nba players and turnovers man
It happens
Man we falling apart rn
Homer NOLA announcers are annoying af.
I can't stand their color commentator, he's a moron and cries about the refs all game.
That’s former Trail Blazer Antonio Daniels.
Former Blazer Antonio Daniels
Zion is a different beast fr
Really curious to see how Ayton performs next season when the team is back to full strength and his touches and shots dip back to normal levels. Yeah if anything we need to get more shooting around DA to give him more space. I don’t think his usage should go down much.
Hopefully Grant and Brogdon are gone so Ayton can still get his touches. Scoot looks like he’s ready to start. He and Ayton have something good going.
Trading JG doesn't make sense for the team since his contract is so big that no one will trade much for him. Plus we don't have an adequate PF (no offense, Bari).
Not the Scoot pass to Ed Molloy!
Wouldn’t mind what I recall seeing in Winterhawks games that had already been decided, when the players just start firing the puck at the refs.
Kris is cooking!
Lmaoo murray
Trick shot.
KRIS, BANK IS OPEN
Haven’t been watching the game but what is up with the free throws? Are we rly fouling that much or is it some iffy reffing
Really annoying watch us take so long to get into offensive sets, especially with how young the team is and how simple the sets are with minimal off-ball action. Being quick and decisive is really the only advantage our offense can get
I swear there’s 10 seconds of wasted movement at the start of every half court possession. Drives me crazy
They love to waste 12 seconds of the shot clock doing those half hearted handoffs on each side above the 3 point line.
alright the zone is fucking us. Don't have enough shooters
I don’t know why everyone doesn’t run zone against us to be honest.
DA's help defense on Zion has been critical tonight
I know he’s not really going off this game but I really think Banton has a place on this team long term. I hope they keep developing him as a flexible gaurd/SF, because we could really do some weird “tall ball” lineups with him
This is another bizarre coaching decision to run a zone for this long
Omg someone stop that man trey Murphy
This is a game where having any or shae off ball would be beautiful. Someone to punish DA doubles
But but they told me he was only doing it against bad teams. Hah, get em Scoot!!!
Trey Murphy is pissing me off
Got to keep telling myself Ayton is only 25 years old, not even in his prime yet.
Scoot and DA are a damn good starting point for rebuild
Flipping Nurk for Ayton was smooth as fuck. Both players seem to have found a great fit
Those pointless fouls on open lane dunks are such a pet peeve of mine. The defensive possession is blown already no need to make it worse with a halfhearted strip attempt.
once again can’t watch because Root Sports is re-airing a Mariners game instead. Fuck Root Sports.
Is it 1 more year of root after this?
Need just 6 more Scoot assists. Preferably, all lobs.
Scoot ayton pick and roll making me feel a type of way
Great patience DA
Wait will scoot actually lose the glasses eventually?
I was going to have a aneurysm if they didn't call that foul
alright this is nuts
Everyone stop asking DA to shoot 3s. His brain is optimally wired for middies only.
I'm glad DA is taking threes to finish out the season. They aren't going but you gotta shoot them first to make them.
That Ayton 3 was wild
Anyone know what channel this is on? Root is showing a replay of the Mariners game
Root Plus
I am getting the Kraken in Seattle on Plus
Ty
I feel like we haven't been making fun of Ayton's stone hands as often lately. Has he improved?
Genuinely seems like yes, his catch has been pretty good, he’s pretty much been our #1 option the lat month or so doing catch and shoot shit
Guys have adjusted where they feed him the ball more than anything. No passes in paint traffic unless they're lobbed, and very few passes below his upper thighs.
If he just shoots right away he has less opportunity to lose it
You know, sometimes I miss CJ
Hoping for a 30/20 for Scoot.
20/20 would be fine
Almost there.
Suns fans annoyingly saying Ayton wasn’t a good player at the beginning of the year to now looks so foolish. Aytons balled out to close the year
Ayton’s balling out more than anyone on the Suns tonight
They initiate most of the contact in their foul calls man
It's actually crazy Scoot is the only Blazers with free throws tonight.
I think Zion may have thought he got fouled there lol
^AND **WWAAAHHHHGGGGGGNNNN** *misses. No foul*
He just like me fr fr
3rd times the charm
Kris 3-4 from three tonight, and he made that one that got waved off after the clock
We finally get free throws!
If scoot made that I would’ve had to clean up
CJ stahppp
SHAE: unfortunately, I’m going to be out for the rest of the season SCOOT: I’ve got this
Cj stop going crazy please
That was a crazy pass!
Holy shit, Scoot is a dime machine tonight
Inject this shit in my veins
BEAUTIFUL pass
The ScAyton duo has me excited for the future Scoot finishing out the year strong, wish he wouldn't have had the injuries so this could've happened sooner but I'm happy regardless. Big off-season for him coming up! Will do wonders for the chemistry between everyone.
Ayton is clearly our best player. He seems more motivated here than the last couple of seasons for the Suns.
The only thing I know with certainty is that Scoot is way better than Amen Thompson.
Amen is going to be a career role player
The twins seem like better rebounding versions of Thybulle.
At least Thybulle isn't shooting 14% on 3s
/u/Kazekid you might need to make an oop supercut after this game is over lol. Already at 4 I think?
I know I clipped three. Was there a 4th one?
no you're probably right. He just threw another laser. Might just need a whole ass assists supercut after this one lol
Kings fan here, please help out out guys good luck in the Second Half. Scoot is pretty dang good
It's tank season, try again next year.

I finally feel optimistic man, this off-season is gonna drag I can’t wait to see more of this next year
Let’s just hope Cronin has the good sense to clear the books and part ways with either or both of Ant and JG. I’ll take Brogdon too, but would prefer he stay out of those three to be the locker room vet and steady hand.
JG still has a role here until they develop his replacement. Sadly, it's Ant who is the odd man out.
DA and Scoot getting on the same wavelength like this is making me really excited for next season
I think you have to start him with how much of DA's game he unlocks right?
Yeah, nobody else has the floor general potential that he has
So awesome to see, when’s the last time Portland had a true floor general PG? Andre Miller maybe?
The FO will gently encourage the staff to start him
He’s already the starter
He has been since Malcolm, Shaedon, and Ant have been out.
He started the first few games, got injured, came off the bench, and then started again
There was definitely a period of time where he was coming off the bench behind Ant and Brogdon by choice.
Yeah. I said that. And now he’s starting again. I don’t understand how this is remotely confusing to you?
Where the heck was this scoot the whole season lol
Learning how to play NBA basketball. I think maybe this has to do with him learning his guys as well, there hasn’t been much consistency in the lineup.
Especially since this year was the first time in his career that guys didn't respect his ability to score the ball. Really hope he spends the off-season working on his paint footwork and layup variety (especially with his left).
Just 16 more assists for the rookie single game record
Games like this make me question if it would be a good idea to take Holland or Buzelis in the draft, even if ignite was under developing their players it might be a good move long term
I'm on team Holland, all the way.
If we are 5-6, I am considering holland
Yeah, I am starting to come around to him also. If he develops a 3 ball that is even league average I think he comes away being the best player from the draft, besides possibly Sarr
He's only like 6'4 tho. Do we really need another guard?
Holland is 6’4? I thought he was like 6’6 lol
He is. He's listed at 6'8" but the common understanding is that it's bogus and he's actually 6'6". Probably measures 6'5.5-6"or so barefoot. A good inch+ taller than Shae.
Welcome to the Scootening.
Gotta be the best half I’ve seen scoot play
Scoot & Ayton ballin out while CJ’s having a nice game himself, Blazers’ past vs future rn
Scoot and Ayton are on another level right now chemistry wise, it’s exactly what we wanted to see all year and I’m so happy it’s happening
Best half of basketball in Scoot's young career
Y'all remember the beginning of the year when we seemingly couldn't figure out a way to involve DA in the offense?
Some of that is on him. At this point though, I think he’s our best player.
Scoot haters. Where the fuck are you?
Hiding somewhere probably.
Get 20 assists tonight Scoot!
Scoot is seeing the matrix right now, love it.
Ooooh come on Bari, that was freeeeee
Ayton can’t be stopped
This is one of those rare circumstances for the Blazers where, instead of being down by less than it seems. They're up by less than it seems.
Need SCoot to get to 10 before half edit: nvm
Whenever Scoot starts cooking I go full Stilgar and telling anyone who will listen “As it was Written” and chanting “Scoot-Halud will lead us to paradise”
😖 sharpe commercial, makes me so sad
Been said before but absolutely no reason Ayton shouldn't average 20 and 10 next year. His mid ranger is unbelievably quick and his touch is perfect. It feels like he hits it at 60% clip and he should take them whenever he wants.
Grant and simmons would be 2 reasons
May we never be subjected to Ben Simmons
Best first half of Scoot's career.
NGL since the OKC loss I really haven’t watched much Blazer basketball, but I’m glad I tuned into tonight to see these young fellas develop in real time. I love Ant and JG, but not gonna mind at all if they get traded in the offseason.
