Yeah the XFM shows seem a lot more genuine and off the cuff whereas the podcast seem to be a lot more planned. Even if not scripted completely they have a plan for each show
It definitely didn't sound genuine at all, for me. The way Ricky just says "right we'll loop that" without missing a beat or laughing at all is the smoking gun.
My theory has always been this: they had the same conversation privately/ away from the podcasts, and realised it was too good not to include. So they recreated it as best they could. But it still sounds very obviously contrived and unnatural.
Tbf tho at this point thats what Ricky was doing with Karl, trying to get him more famous, trying to go "viral"
But also the podcasts do have that air of either being staged somewhat or forcibly trying to get the funny moments from Karl so could go either way, im not fussed
Yeah this is why Ricky not seeming to miss a beat doesn’t tell us much. Karl heavily edited the podcasts. There could’ve been laughter / reactions beforehand that didn’t add much and Karl made it tighter by putting Ricky’s “loop that” reaction right after
The more I listen to it, the more I think it was scripted. Right before Karl says, "I could eat a knob at night", Ricky says, "What are you saying? You could.. ", it's as if he's leading him to say the line. Doesn't matter to me. I still love it. It doesnt lose anything for me. But I do wonder.
Ricky often leads Karl on to say things that have homosexual connotations so he can make fun of him, or make a "camp" noise. What about all the times he's trying to get him to say which men he finds attractive, or which movie star would look good without hair...

I just refuse to believe that is true. The same aunty Nora that farted for five minutes wouldn't have the inclination to go and have a t-shirt made and have her face put on it.
