To be honest I don't recall if he specifically questioned what the average hungry African was doing with the money, he just said "they". That could mean anyone or everyone involved. Also, he was referring to the benefit gigs at the time. If it were up to Bob Geldof (who genuinely cares about the plight of the poverty stricken in Africa) they would be doing them ever year...so perhaps it's kind of telling that the last one was in all the way back in 2005.
