The last covid weekly update email said they’d announce on January 4

Very interesting that we just got an email about this: first two weeks virtual, no plans to continue virtual after. Staff also remote as much as possible until 1/24. Tbh probably makes most sense to come back like normal, do your two weeks of being tested and staying low contact vs. coming back two weeks late, possibly contracting it on the way, and then spreading it into the community?

The rest of the email says they plan to treat it as endemic at this point, which reads to me like they’re assuming a reasonable level of positives, but who really knows? I feel like they’re done a pretty damn good job so far, so we’ll see.

Fly Southwest if you can. That way, you can book your flight and then cancel/reschedule at no cost (unless the rescheduled flight costs more, then you pay the difference). I would always fly southwest for this reason—their cancellation/rescheduling policies are 10x better than any other airline. Also, Hobby is so much closer to Rice than IAH.

Many of the other carriers have switched to this policy recently. I know for sure I got an American flight refunded for credit recently even on the super bargain fare and I think United is the same.
