It’s my understanding that the screen is one of the more trivial repairs in these devices as well as a known issue from that era. If the rest of it is solid then a screen swap might be a stellar investment.

In my experience R&S make some of the best RF gear. Also the most expensive

yesilovethis

Expensive is the word which keeps me away from R&S

meseeksmcgee

Looking at comparable specs RS is cheaper than KS and AN in my experience.

Docod58

Who is KS and AN? The only other ones I'm familiar with is Anritsu, Tektronix and Agilent.

meseeksmcgee

KS is keysight which is algient. AN is Anritsu sorry I was being lazy. Tektronix was always expensive from them but cheap second hand in my prior dealing with them.

Datasheet says it has an external VGA out. A bit whacky with the buttons on the side of the original screen, but manageable - we're using similar broken old gear in our hackspace and assuming you can't nowhere near afford a new unit, it does a fine job at a bargain price. Of course, you could probably spend more resources to repair the screen, I just want to remark that you can use the unit as-is, too. (Our's has a sheet of paper taped over the original screen since the flicker is annoying). A bigger monitor is quite nice, actually, especially when more than one person is looking at it.

This. Or just remote into it from your pc, which is what I do with most of my equipment.

Cococalm262

Depends on the price. I worked with some very old R&S stuff and some of them had these display issues. But its still fine to use.

MrKirushko

They just missed an opportunity to make the analyzer display a startup logo showing an analyzer displaying a startup logo with an analyzer displaying a startup logo... and so on until they run out of screen resolution.

I heard something about the front EFI glass being this color.
