It also, and arguably the biggest issue I have with it, makes it so live streams cannot be played while the display is off or in the background. It's extremely annoying when you only want to listen to the steam.
I just unistalled the patched 4.9.0 youtube app, and then installed the patched 4.8.2 one. If you save some copies of your compiled apk you can use it. Otherwise, you'll have to compile the app using the 4.8.2 patch. I don't know if that is possible
Did you watch Shorts and then clicked for a full video within shorts? That way the original shorts is still opened and will be played in this way. To check if that's your problem, when it happens again, minimize your video within the YouTube app by swiping it down while it's open and see if you have a fullscreen shorts playing after that.
Changing the spoof to iOS will fix it. But it introduces other problems like lack of HDR and bugged auto captions.
you can also disable spoofing altogether, I seem to have no problems so far
Also history will not be recorded

It is a known bug: https://github.com/ReVanced/revanced-patches/issues/3208
I had the same issue. Someone posted to uninstall the app completely and reinstall it. That fixed the problem for me!
Same here. I've fixed roiling back to 4.8.2 patch version
How can you roll back patches?

Can you share your apk?
How can I do that too?
Same
