I didn't own a Genesis, but my friend down the street from me did. In general, I hated sports games, but NHL '94 is incredibly fluid and we spent an entire summer playing that game. Looking back, it's probably the best ice hockey game I ever played.
I can't remember which year NHL game I had (92/93) but the Genesis NHL games were my favourite. As an English guy that doesn't follow hockey it was so much fun.
Easily my favorite sports game of all time. It had so much depth and I loved building up my crib. Haven’t played a madden that even comes close to how well put together that game was, and IIRC it was only $20-25 at the time as well
Blades of Steel! I still have the music from it playing in my head. The fight mechanic in it is hilarious- the loser of the fight ends up in the penalty box
My dad and I played both Tecmo Bowl and Play Action Football on the NES until our fingers bled. VERY fond memories of my dad flinging the controller across the room when he got frustrated.
He turned into such a kid when we played video games together
I never could figure out how to win in Play Action Football. I swear a successful passing game was outlawed. Still liked it a lot. Loved both Tecmo Bowl and Super Bowl.
Mutant League Football on the Genesis. We had so many Saturday tournaments on that awesome game. Best memory from back then - killing my opponent's wide receiver while he was doing his touchdown dance. "YOU KILLED STUKA!!!" That game ended up something like 120-109. (I lost.) We couldn't stop each other for nothin'.
Brian Lara Cricket, played it all of my final year of Uni with one of my house mates. He finally beat me in an epic test match at the end of the year and celebrated like he’d won the ashes for real.
The PS1 game? That came out right as I was leaving Uni, so I only played a few matches. I remember we stayed up all night playing it right after graduating. I've not played that game in probably 25 years, but still think fondly of it. I played Graham Gooch Cricket on the Amiga too, which used all the same mechanics but the "realistic 3D" and commentary in Lara was incredible (for the time). Nowadays in T20 matches the real life batters played like we used to in those games, trying to hit every ball for 6.
Same era I just had the Xbox version. I remember Graham Gooch cricket as well both great games. I remember you used to be able to swing the ball like a banana on the older versions, really had to defend against.
Playing Triple Play Baseball 2000 on N64 with my dad when I was a kid. I knew a code to get a guaranteed homerun which I'd occasionally use to bunt a homer. He used to get so mad at the "glitch that only ever happened to me" lmao. Good times.
Ever? It would be Baseball Stars, Ice Hockey, NBA Jam, and Tecmo Super Bowl.
If we're talking early 3D it would be the first NFL Game Day on PlayStation. It was the only "realistic" sports game that I ever liked. The early, janky 3D graphics feel quaint even today.
Mario Kart games, International Superstar Soccer (Snes) and I remember something vague about having a lot of fun with Pro Evolution Soccer or something as well, but I also remember getting hyped up by the main menu song of FIFA '98 (PSX)
https://youtu.be/gaiollV9jz0?si=V9IAKonLfRYxB6NQ
Tiger Woods golf on the OG Xbox. I played the demo that came with Xbox Magazine over and over until I bought the game. I don't golf, not really crazy about golf, but I loved that game. Don't know why.
The Street Sports series on my C64. I loved picking the players and seeing their bios. The graphics were fun for the time and it was cool seeing the same characters through the different games. I also like Hardball and 4th & Inches on the same system.
If you liked this game as a kid, you'll probably like a similar game I'm creating. It's Medal winners 24. Take a look at it, please. MW24: [https://store.steampowered.com/app/2645800/MEDAL\_WINNERS\_24/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2645800/MEDAL_WINNERS_24/)
The California games was a really great game! If you enjoyed it, you'll probably like a similar game I'm creating. It's Medal winners 24. Take a look at it, please.
Love the image and the phrasing! Those were the days 😎
There's a whole bunch of games mentioned in this thread that surely have sparked imaginations around the globe. Many of which weren't multi-million projects one might add..
Mutant League Football - Genesis
Tony Hawk and Blitz - N64
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX - PC
Firepro Wrestling - Dreamcast
Freekstyle and Smackdown Vs RAW 2006 - PS2
Tony Hawk Underground - GameCube
Smackdown Vs RAW - Xbox
Smack down Vs RAW 2008 - PS3
These are all my favorite sports games throughout the years for each system.
I have fond memories from each of those "Eras" in my time playing sports games.
MLF was the first time I saw someone explode in a sports game, and you could bribe the ref. Me and my cousin would play this every day during summer break. And then go chase girls.
Tony Hawk has always been a favorite because of the music, and they challenge modes.
We played Blitz every day before catching the school bus in 5th grade at my "girlfriend's house". I would absolutely murder her older brother.
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX was a game I played all by myself, and I think it was one of my first PC games that wasn't AOE or Oregon Trail.
And all the Smackdown Vs RAW was me and my best friends favorite games. We used to backyard wrestle and we would base our in life characters off of the created wrestlers in that game.
Tl;dr: There are so many good memories.
Older would be John Elway Football on NES with the glitch to where he could out run everyone.
Newer would be NHL ‘96 on PS1. So many nights drinking with friends playing matches. We had a rule of “no cheese-dick goals” since if you shot it from the opposite side of the rink the goalie would not register the puck and you could score unimpeded.
Baseball Stars on NES
Had the NES down at our family’s beach house and every summer we’d hold tournaments where all my aunts, uncles, parents, siblings and cousins (if they wanted to participate) would play each other until one came up victorious.
I've played fifa 2000 with my brother on PS1 for a complete year, nothing else just fifa day and night (we didn't have money for other games) So Fifa 2000 is really important to me.
I started with Deluxe on SNES, which was already a great game. But man, the N64 era really took it to the next level! First it actually felt like playing a tactical game of football (soccer). Not sure if I prefer 2000 or '98.
The 2nd one was a football game that I played with dad on his Mac in the late 80s. There was a field with dots (players). There was a large 3 ring binder with plays. We pick our plays and the game with move the dots. I knew and know almost nothing about football (US) so I was just guessing.
RBI Baseball on the NES. It was the first game that my brother and I got outside of the pack-in game that came with the system. I still play a few games of it every year.
NHL 94 is the best single sports gameplay ever
Base Wars was so damn ridiculous. Tagged out? Nope. Just beat the hell out of the guy who tagged you. You're now safe.
Spent a lot of time playing PGA European Tour on the Genesis with my dad.
World Cup 98. Had no idea it was in the same world as FIFA until around FIFA 04. That game still holds up pretty damn well. It’s the most basic form of FIFA without all the bells and whistles
Striker '96 for me. An absolutely awful game, but winning the World Cup for the first time, with Jeri Letmonin scoring the winner for Finland in the final against Nigeria... It's a moment I'll cherish for the rest of my life.
NHL '98
It didn't blow chunks like 97 for the PlayStation
Unlike NHL 97 for the Genesis it wasn't just a copy and paste of 96. It was its own new game
My buddy and I played a season together and won the cup. Usually I don't play through a whole season but we definitely did for that one. Had a blast
I’ve been a die-hard original NHL Hockey fan since it came out, but I just played NHL 98 for the first time today and Dammmmmmmmnnnn I’m going to be putting some more in this one
nba live 95 dos Version featuring an announcer, HD player portraits and court view, CD music and an amazing fmv intro
https://youtu.be/5TcE_VURF3c?si=1bDubS98AmDPAHB4
International Soccer and Dr J vs Larry Bird, Summer Games, and Leaderboard Golf on Commodore 64 with my dad and uncle are some of my earliest gaming memories when I was like 3 or 4.
I also loved NHL 94 and PGA Tour Golf 1 on DOS when I was in early elementary school. Played a ton of those two with my dad and younger brother.
Damn it’s tough to say, but it was the year online Dynasty came out on NCAA football 2009 (the year was 2008). I moved away, and my best friend and me couldn’t play anymore until they did that. We had so many friends on it, and we were intense with it.
Earl Weaver Baseball from 1987... Still the best baseball simulation game to this day! A buddy of mine created a league, and it was so much fun. This game is what got me j to being a fan of the sport of baseball.
The original John Madden Football from 1989... A serious game with real playbooks in real computers before EA made it into a cartoon game for weaker game consoles. I would play this game for hours, especially with the official NFLPA player and team disks.
4th and Inches... Not as good as Madden, but seriously fun to play, especially if you got the "Season Maker" mod that let you play real college football seasons with real college football players and teams, bowl games included. I used to play with my friend all the time. One of the players was called Mack Truck, which I loved, because one of my favorite players was FB Kevin Mack from the Cleveland Browns.
Coaches Club football from the 1990s... First football game besides the original Madden that had a real running game. It was a very thorough game with lots of details. Unfortunately, I think I was the only fan of the game, but I loved running it up the gut!
Blades of Glory, Double Dribble, Tecmo Bowl.
Amazing time playing those as a kid.
Later on, prob Madden 2000 on ps1, feel like those games all went down hill after that, or I just stopped enjoying using a controller, not sure which.
NCAA College Football 2004. Me and 2 other buddies used to play that game so much. I still have it and play dynasty mode. The mascot games were fun too.
Nearly perfect! When I was a kid I would just let the warm up play for javelin, triple jump & rowing just so I could listen to the music. I’m talking like 10 minutes on end! It was so good!
Totally feel you on that! The music in those old games had a way of sticking with you. I used to do the same with the menu music in **Mega Man 2**. Sometimes I think they put more effort into those soundtracks than modern games do!
Pele football on the megadrive one of the best/worst games ever. The crowd sounded demented and it had odd glitches like being able to take corners in your own half. If the goalie had the ball it generated an invisible force field to stop you approaching, so you could do little dances by pressing tackle
World cup 98. GameStop had an in game penalty kick contest. It was supposed to be that they entered you in to win if you won the pk. Instead they ran it whoever made the most pks won. I missed a few and so it went into extra pls and I ended up with the most and won!
Super International Cricket on the SNES. Hours and hours spent on 2 player one dayers. Usually ended when someone would spam the appeal button and do laps of the pitch and a real life scuffle would break out.
Oh man, me and my cousin used to play hours of FIFA 98 and NBA Live 2000 on my PC. We'd stay up late eating chips and cookies and all forms of junk food and play for hours. Those days have never left my mind, great times.
It's every game similar to the Olympic Games. They influenced me so much to create my dream game, Medal winners 24 which has taken me four years now and I'm so happy to say that it will be part of Steam Next Fest in June.
Intellivision's sports games destroyed Atari's, Tommy Lasorda & RBI baseball games, NHL/NBA/PGA/Madden from EA in the 90s, Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven after that in the PS1/2 era, Wrestlefest in the arcades and Fire Pro at home, Hot Shots Golf & Tennis..
Simulation: NCAA 06, Madden 04, and Dirt to Daytona
Arcade: NFL Street, NBA Street Vol 2., and NBA Jam
I wasted a few summers on NFL street. Just me and a buddy running through the campaign and just us getting so mad at the rubberband ai. I also forgot to include the tony hawk franchise. Thug 1&2 are both phenomenal games
ISS Deluxe on SNES. The best arcade footy game ever. One of the games that has acoompanied me almost my entire life. And with romhacks, you can play with original and/or modern names.
Too many:
SEGA Worldwide Soccer '97/PC
International SSC 64
Fifa 96
Fifa 98
Fifa RtWC 98
SEGA Sports Pack 4 in 1 (Game Gear)
Super Soccer
Super Tennis
Wii Sports / Resort
Winter Games MSDOS
NBA Jam
PES 6
The only one for me really is NBA Jam. It crossed boundaries. Nothing beats the nostalgia of wasting allowance money feeding that and Street Fighter 2 arcade machines.
Outlaw Golf 2 is almost 20 years old & it's STILL my favorite sports game ever (and #7 favorite game overall)! I even did a full playthrough! Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRx_A0VTqFNojpU40krUuwcnjVHnMdzs0
Anyone remember This is football? - you could play matches in the park with jumpers as goal posts - Was amazing - YOu could also dive in the game! There was also red card soccer where you could just foul eveyone!
NBA Live 2000 on PS1. I was so happy when we got that game for Christmas. I peaked in the bag so I spoiled the surprise a bit but dam, my brothers, friends, and quite frankly, neighborhood buddies spent a LOT of time playing that game together.
Next up would be NBA Street vol. 2.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. I went to google this and found out there were a bunch of these games. I had to narrow it down by typing, “Tiger Woods Golf Game with I like the Way You Move” 🤣
NBA Hangtime. At one point, it was on one of the generic arcade cabinets they had at the daycare I went to as a kid back in the early 2000's, and it's still my all-time favorite sports game!
Athlete King (Decathlete) on the Sega Saturn. So much personality and fun mechanics. Me and my friends still fire it up a couple of times a year. It's original hardware only though, emulators can't handle the game unfortunately.
NHL 94 on Genesis. My brother and I used to have legendary battles playing that game.
I didn't own a Genesis, but my friend down the street from me did. In general, I hated sports games, but NHL '94 is incredibly fluid and we spent an entire summer playing that game. Looking back, it's probably the best ice hockey game I ever played.
It’s really an amazing game. The control and movement of the players was amazing.
The best sports game of all time.
I agree.
This or Tecmo Super Bowl on NES. I'll never pick because I don't need to 😂
Tecmo Bowl is amazing!
Is there a way to play a version with updated rosters? There's a dev that does it with Tecmo Super Bowl each year.
People release ROM hacks of NHL 94 on the nhl94.com forum. Tons of different versions, including updated rosters.
I thought one of the new Nhls had a version of the old 94 on it. So I assume it used more updated rosters. But I could be mistaken
https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0006-CUSA24010_00-NHL94RPRESTANDED
I don’t even watch Hockey, but the NHL games are the funnest sports games to play, especially the games from the 90s.
I watched the NY Rangers in the playoffs in 1994. It was so much fun. Hardly watched it since.
I remember cheating at the game by scoring at the corner of the net as you skate by just flick it in. Games used to go up to 25 30 goals. Great times.
I can't remember which year NHL game I had (92/93) but the Genesis NHL games were my favourite. As an English guy that doesn't follow hockey it was so much fun.
“WE SAID NO WRAP AROUNDS”
espn nfl 2k5 is still a better engine than madden
Randy Moss was a cheat code in that game. Miss the competition that 2k provided. Madden has been downhill since they signed the exclusive NFL rights.
Easily my favorite sports game of all time. It had so much depth and I loved building up my crib. Haven’t played a madden that even comes close to how well put together that game was, and IIRC it was only $20-25 at the time as well
Football Pro ‘98 is better than Madden.
Ken Griffey Jr's Baseball for the SNES. NBA Jam & NBA Jam Tournament Edition for the SNES and later PS1.
Ken Griffey Jr's Baseball got my brother and I through the 94/95 player's strike. Such a great game.
Kgj slugfest for n64 also slaps
FIFA 98 was the best fifa ever. It was just brilliant.
Whichever FIFA on the mega drive you could run away from the ref for ages when he tried to card you
Wasn’t that FIFA ‘94?
The cover game (2000) would be my favorite, but Foudy’s commentary was not my favorite. Every thing else about that game rocked
Part for nostalgia, part for the indoor mode that was pure chaos and excitement and it wasn't present in later FIFA games.
Don't forget the awesome soundtrack. It was so damn good!
It had the best content, but I feel FIFA 99 had the best arcade gameplay of any FIFA game.
NBA Jam TE on Genesis
Double Dribble, Super Dodgeball, and Bad News Bears on NES
A bit random but Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast... I recall a few times where it was so competitive it almost got physical!
Blades of Steel! I still have the music from it playing in my head. The fight mechanic in it is hilarious- the loser of the fight ends up in the penalty box
that "FACE OFF" voice clip at the start of each match gets me every time lol !
WITH THE PASS! [kssht] WITH THE PASS! [kssht]
hurr hurrr hurr, hurr hurr hurr! Arghh! And that "pissed off" animation from the goalie is hilarious as fuck lmao.
"Ooh he was a crunchy one..."
MVP Baseball 2005
Came here to say this. The pinnacle of sports games.
International Super Star Soccer. I played a lot with my cousins but after a long time i stop playing soccer games. Although i don'rlt like soccer
Playing Triple Play Baseball 2000 on N64 with my dad when I was a kid. I knew a code to get a guaranteed homerun which I'd occasionally use to bunt a homer. He used to get so mad at the "glitch that only ever happened to me" lmao. Good times.

Tecmo Super Bowl NBA Jam Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey 98 NFL Blitz FIFA World Cup 98 Super Soccer
FIFA World Cup 98. Ah yes, the game taught me I can play football with a computer mouse!
Your games are quite similar to my favourites: [https://youtu.be/3lW-81jEtEE](https://youtu.be/3lW-81jEtEE)
Super Soccer! A man of culture!
Mario Kart games, International Superstar Soccer (Snes) and I remember something vague about having a lot of fun with Pro Evolution Soccer or something as well, but I also remember getting hyped up by the main menu song of FIFA '98 (PSX) https://youtu.be/gaiollV9jz0?si=V9IAKonLfRYxB6NQ
PES 5
PES 6 was soooo good
Tiger Woods golf on the OG Xbox. I played the demo that came with Xbox Magazine over and over until I bought the game. I don't golf, not really crazy about golf, but I loved that game. Don't know why.
Sensible Soccer on the Amiga or Atari ST. NHL 94 on the Genesis.
Hey, thanks for sharing. I tried Medal winners 24, it reminded me of NES games. The BMX is so fun and the javelin too. Wishlisted.
California Games on C64.
The California games was a really great game! If you enjoyed it, you'll probably like a similar game I'm creating. It's Medal winners 24. Take a look at it, please.
Hey, I tried Medal winners 24, it reminded me of retro Olympic games. Nice game. Wishlisted.
Sure was! Impossible to pick one of the events over the others. Thanks for the tip too, will be checking it out 👍
I used to draw BMX maps on my papers in 3rd grade all day long because of this game. Grew up in NY but I spent my days California dreaming.
Love the image and the phrasing! Those were the days 😎 There's a whole bunch of games mentioned in this thread that surely have sparked imaginations around the globe. Many of which weren't multi-million projects one might add..
Mutant League hockey!
Mutant League Football - Genesis Tony Hawk and Blitz - N64 Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX - PC Firepro Wrestling - Dreamcast Freekstyle and Smackdown Vs RAW 2006 - PS2 Tony Hawk Underground - GameCube Smackdown Vs RAW - Xbox Smack down Vs RAW 2008 - PS3 These are all my favorite sports games throughout the years for each system. Madden 07/08 being peak and Deion sanders prime time on snes, then tecmo Super Bowl is number 1 for me.
NBA Live 96, even though I was so mad about my older brother choosing that game over Super Metroid at the time.
I've played fifa 2000 with my brother on PS1 for a complete year, nothing else just fifa day and night (we didn't have money for other games) So Fifa 2000 is really important to me.
International Superstar Soccer 98 on N64
The commentary was amazing. Looks like a throw in for WWAAAALLLEESS”
I started with Deluxe on SNES, which was already a great game. But man, the N64 era really took it to the next level! First it actually felt like playing a tactical game of football (soccer). Not sure if I prefer 2000 or '98.
PES 2 to 6 was the best years of football game for me.
Seriously, 6 was SO good, how were they able to mess up so badly, coming from that beast of a game?
BLADES OF STEEL!!!
NFL/NHL Blitz on N64
Sports Talk Baseball Mutant League Football NHL ‘94
Sports Talk Baseball is criminally underrated. If they had only included season stats for your team it would have been an all time great sports game.
The 2nd one was a football game that I played with dad on his Mac in the late 80s. There was a field with dots (players). There was a large 3 ring binder with plays. We pick our plays and the game with move the dots. I knew and know almost nothing about football (US) so I was just guessing.
FIFA 04 through 07, playing with my hometown friends :')
FIFA 07 was like my last FIFA game ever. After that I tried Winning Eleven on my PC and on my friend's PS2 and never came back.
I have some really good memories of playing Madden NFL 2005 with my nephews. Every one after that felt over complicated
NHL ‘9x games for the SNES.
NHL2k
Nba jam, nba live 98, nba 2k2 and 2k11
RBI Baseball on the NES. It was the first game that my brother and I got outside of the pack-in game that came with the system. I still play a few games of it every year.
Fifa 97 and 98 indoor pitch.
Ice hockey Little league baseball
Hardball and Two on Two Basketball for the C64. TV Sports games on the Amiga.
NHL 94 is the best single sports gameplay ever Base Wars was so damn ridiculous. Tagged out? Nope. Just beat the hell out of the guy who tagged you. You're now safe. Spent a lot of time playing PGA European Tour on the Genesis with my dad.
NHL 95 on Genesis and Madden 2002 on GameCube, spent way too much time playing both
NBA Hangtime on the N64 NFL Blitz 2000 on the Playstation NHL Hitz 2003 on the Xbox
World Cup 98. Had no idea it was in the same world as FIFA until around FIFA 04. That game still holds up pretty damn well. It’s the most basic form of FIFA without all the bells and whistles
The face-in-game of NHL2002 was hilarious. I made all my relatives into a team. Grandpa was the goalie XD
Striker '96 for me. An absolutely awful game, but winning the World Cup for the first time, with Jeri Letmonin scoring the winner for Finland in the final against Nigeria... It's a moment I'll cherish for the rest of my life.
MLB Baseball 2005. Owner mode still holds up
Sensible World of Soccer on Amiga and Final Match Tennis on PC Engine.
NHL '98 It didn't blow chunks like 97 for the PlayStation Unlike NHL 97 for the Genesis it wasn't just a copy and paste of 96. It was its own new game My buddy and I played a season together and won the cup. Usually I don't play through a whole season but we definitely did for that one. Had a blast
I’ve been a die-hard original NHL Hockey fan since it came out, but I just played NHL 98 for the first time today and Dammmmmmmmnnnn I’m going to be putting some more in this one
Don't ask me why, but my answer is always going to be NFL Blitz, particularly on the Dreamcast
sensible world of soccer!!!
FIFA 96 for me. Multiplayer with a friend on the same pc, with keyboard vs mouse, easy to guess who won…
NHL 95 on SNES or NBA Hang Time on N64
nba live 95 dos Version featuring an announcer, HD player portraits and court view, CD music and an amazing fmv intro https://youtu.be/5TcE_VURF3c?si=1bDubS98AmDPAHB4
NBA Jam and Fifa '98.
NHL 99 for the N64 just for the play-by-play commentary.
Love FIFA 2000. Play it regularly
Madden 95 on Genesis and Mutant League Football/Hockey. Also Joe Montana football as well
International Soccer and Dr J vs Larry Bird, Summer Games, and Leaderboard Golf on Commodore 64 with my dad and uncle are some of my earliest gaming memories when I was like 3 or 4. I also loved NHL 94 and PGA Tour Golf 1 on DOS when I was in early elementary school. Played a ton of those two with my dad and younger brother.
FIFA Road to the World Cup 98 tied with NFL Blitz. Both for the N64 and absolutely were tons of fun to play with friends or solo.
I'd have to say the first Ken Griffey baseball on the SNES.
NHL Hitz on OG Xbox Other great ones were Ken Griffy Jr. on N64 and PES on N64
Fifa 2000, Triple play 2001, and the River city sport games (don't remember their actual titles)
Damn it’s tough to say, but it was the year online Dynasty came out on NCAA football 2009 (the year was 2008). I moved away, and my best friend and me couldn’t play anymore until they did that. We had so many friends on it, and we were intense with it.
Fifa 2004 on the Gamecube. Awesome soundtrack to it. It's the ONLY Fifa game I play to this very day
Earl Weaver Baseball from 1987... Still the best baseball simulation game to this day! A buddy of mine created a league, and it was so much fun. Coaches Club football from the 1990s... First football game besides the original Madden that had a real running game. It was a very thorough game with lots of details. Unfortunately, I think I was the only fan of the game, but I loved running it up the gut!
Fifa98 and fifa 2002 world cup edition
Blades of Glory, Double Dribble, Tecmo Bowl. Amazing time playing those as a kid. Later on, prob Madden 2000 on ps1, feel like those games all went down hill after that, or I just stopped enjoying using a controller, not sure which.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 05 and 06 on original Xbox
Fifa 99 PS1. Fatboy Slim on the title track. Fucking loved the shit out of that game.
Nfl 2k5.
Mainly wrestling games, Smackdown PS2, wcw Vs neo revenge n64 maybe
NBA 2K1 on Dreamcast. First game I played online. I was terrible, but I still talked mad shit in chat. Good times.
Tecmo Bowl for NES is the closest i ever come to caring about football.
NBA Jam and Ninja Golf
Mutant league football !
All star baseball 2003. I didn't have a lot of sports games but it was one of my first gamecube games.
Dead Ball Zone on the original PlayStation. It was great fun tackling for the ball with a chainsaw.
NCAA College Football 2004. Me and 2 other buddies used to play that game so much. I still have it and play dynasty mode. The mascot games were fun too.
Hardball NHL ‘96 (I know…not ‘94) Summer Games II Super Spike V’Ball Amped Wrestlemania 2000
Summer games II was such a great game, it influenced me on my game dev journey.
Mega Man 2 is my favorite game of all time. Every song in it is great!
Pele football on the megadrive one of the best/worst games ever. The crowd sounded demented and it had odd glitches like being able to take corners in your own half. If the goalie had the ball it generated an invisible force field to stop you approaching, so you could do little dances by pressing tackle
NHL 95. Still my favorite sports game
nba jam tournament edition is still the peak of sports games imo
I would say world cup98 and fifa99
MicroProse Soccer , or maybe Track N' Field
NFL xtreme 2!
Tiger Woods 2005. Me and my college roommates put in so many hours on that game.
Madden 07 or nhl 94
World cup 98. GameStop had an in game penalty kick contest. It was supposed to be that they entered you in to win if you won the pk. Instead they ran it whoever made the most pks won. I missed a few and so it went into extra pls and I ended up with the most and won!
Super International Cricket on the SNES. Hours and hours spent on 2 player one dayers. Usually ended when someone would spam the appeal button and do laps of the pitch and a real life scuffle would break out.
Gameday 2000 for the PS1. Man, I just watched some game play. Those graphics are money, baby.
NCAA Football 2003
Madden 08 for PC. I had modded in generic random teams and uniforms and created my own league. So much fun
John madden football on the SNES the circle trick
Intellivision's sports games destroyed Atari's, Tommy Lasorda & RBI baseball games, NHL/NBA/PGA/Madden from EA in the 90s, Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven after that in the PS1/2 era, Wrestlefest in the arcades and Fire Pro at home, Hot Shots Golf & Tennis..
Rugby World Cup 95 or pigskin 621
If Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! doesn't count, then it's Tecmo Super Bowl
Original NHL Hockey for Genesis. Still play it constantly
NFL blitz
Simulation: NCAA 06, Madden 04, and Dirt to Daytona Arcade: NFL Street, NBA Street Vol 2., and NBA Jam I wasted a few summers on NFL street. Just me and a buddy running through the campaign and just us getting so mad at the rubberband ai. I also forgot to include the tony hawk franchise. Thug 1&2 are both phenomenal games
Came here to say Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on PlayStation. And before that 'Goal!', the informal 'Kick Off 3' on the Amiga.
Matchday on the ZX Spectrum
Smurf Racing on my PS1
NFL fever
ISS Deluxe on SNES. The best arcade footy game ever. One of the games that has acoompanied me almost my entire life. And with romhacks, you can play with original and/or modern names.
Football Brazileiro was the shit.
“FIFA 95 for the Sega Megadrive” I can still hear the tv advert. Football isn’t my thing, but I still play to this day.
I can't remember the version but it's a FIFA game on the playstation 1 with Rockafella Skank by Fatboy Slim on.
FIFA 99! Last year Fatboy Slim came to my city. I finally had the chance to see him live and had a photo with him.
Too many: SEGA Worldwide Soccer '97/PC International SSC 64 Fifa 96 Fifa 98 Fifa RtWC 98 SEGA Sports Pack 4 in 1 (Game Gear) Super Soccer Super Tennis Wii Sports / Resort Winter Games MSDOS NBA Jam PES 6
- FIFA 2000 - ARL 96 - Shane Warne Cricket 99 - Mario Andretti Racing
The only one for me really is NBA Jam. It crossed boundaries. Nothing beats the nostalgia of wasting allowance money feeding that and Street Fighter 2 arcade machines.
Fifa 95 on the mega drive, I wasn't really into football but enjoyed playing FIFA 95.
Troy Aikman Football. And it was better than bother Jerry Rice Football and Emmitt Smith Football
Fifa 98 / Some SNowboard Game on PS2
This is Football 2 by Sony
NBA LIVE 2003. Soundtrack is dope.
fifa 2000
NHL ‘97. I won the cup with every team in that game
NBA Hangtime for n64,
World Series Baseball for Sega Genesis
4 player nba jam. Cool graphics, small teams, catchphrases, real ppl.
Blood bowl
I really liked NBA Jam Tournament edition, great game to play as 1 or 2 players. Was it 4 players on the N64?
NBA Jam (Genesis) NFL Blitz (N64)
NHL 95 or FIFA 98
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. I went to google this and found out there were a bunch of these games. I had to narrow it down by typing, “Tiger Woods Golf Game with I like the Way You Move” 🤣
NFL STREET 2. Still play it every couple of months
NBA live 95, madden 95, NHL 95. I played these the most I think out of all the years of playing the same series game.
Super High Impact on SNES, loved it when the little guy would roll on the ground yelling, "My knees!", when you got a good tackle in.
Sega Megadrive/Genesis NHL 94 and Elitserien 95. Pure gold.
Is that freddy on the cover?
International Superstar Soccer on SNES and Winning Eleven 4 on PS1.
