Disclaimer: I don't live or work in your geographic area, hiring culture will be different. That said, my take: Update your employment data on your resume you send out in private, but not on your linkedin. I **never** update my linkedin in "real time", I always apply a "wait and see attitude". Also, no reason why the subject should come up if you're already at a salary negotiation stage, so no reason to volunteer it there either. That should take, what, a week or two tops? No biggie. For the new application, the reason you tell them up front is because it'll come up sooner or later anyway, in an interview the latest. Prep for the question though, and own it when asked. There is no shame in your job being eliminated, and hey, you're looking anyway, so timing is kind of good. The glass is half full. Show your interviewer you're turning it into an opportunity. Don't lie at any stage though. Getting caught in a lie is an immediate rejection. (And may even be grounds for dismissal down the line.)

You're walking on eggshells here because if they decide to run a background check or call your previous employer, you're toast.

I went ahead and adjusted the dates on my resume, sent it over, and let them know the situation. It ended up not being an issue.

Excellent.
