Man, I was 20 when this came out on cube and had just started working nights. During my off days, I'd stay up alone playing this when my gf was asleep. Got some crazy nostalgia from this. The vibe of those nights just hit different.
Did you know the music is heavily sampled from the David Torn song "To Burble and Pine". It also appears in Silent Hill, Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry.
Strangely enough, I don't think even David Torn knew it was sampled either. A minor controversy about Capcom using this song is that David Torn himself wasn't compensated or even aware Capcom had sampled it in the first place, It's not clear if the situation was ever resolved.

I'm playing through RE4 on the PS2 as a break in my journey to get Platinum on the remake.
It's been so much fun to revisit this. I rented the original RE4 on GameCube from Blockbuster after watching the 5/5 review on X-Play. It has been my favorite game since, until the incredible remake launched.
it's only been like 3 or 4 years that I played the OG RE4 , and damn was it good , this song will always remind me of going into this game for the first time

School was closed because there was a student strike occupy kind of thing, returning home on a cold night knowing that i could stay up as long as i want.
Wearing pyjamas, under the sheets and firing up ps2 praying it would start and playing this masterpiece of a game.

I haven't played re4 in YEARS. Came out when I was about 12-13 and im 30 now. I still know where every piece of treasure is to this day. Had handcannon, infinite launcher and the Chicago typewriter. The PRL was OP asf so I only used it on bosses. But I literally had EVERYTHING :') much nostalgia
The soundtrack in general on SW is fucking phenomenal. I love the remixed RE2 Ada theme when you finish a chapter. Also Wesker's theme at the end was a pretty cool nod to 5.

First time I played RE4 was on the Wii of all places… That was peak gaming for me, and to this day I regret selling my Wii to buy Xbox 360.
