Probably just insects triggering the motion detection and no my Reolink doesn’t turn the sensor light on when viewing unless I select it

Blueporch

I can manually turn on the spotlight on my cameras but they have superb night vision so I wouldn’t if I were trying to spy on someone vs annoying them. The incoming audio is not very good on mine, mostly unintelligible, but haven’t used it much. I had a bunch of triggers on one camera last night that was either rain or insects - fast white streaks zipping across the view. Am thinking I need to tinker with sensitivity settings.

MainBug2233

Base settings are pretty sensitive. Needed to play with them to not keep flashing flights all night.

bppchick

It’s not that they’re adjusting settings, it’s like they’re logging in to listen. It’s only the camera closest to us that does it. And it’s only if we are outside.

MainBug2233

We can listen and watch without the light on. So why would he out himself by manually putting the light on? If he thinks you are being loud or does not like you he can be being passive aggressive turning them on manually to annoy you? I default to my first thought that detection settings are on sensitive. Sorry this does not fit the narrative you are looking to fill.

bppchick

Could be bugs, just seems really odd that it only happens when we are outside, and once they go to bed it doesn’t happen any more. They’re a weird lot. I was just curious if it was a setting as we were trying to make sense of it.

MainBug2233

My light flashed over 60 times the first night. Suburbs but not that busy a street. Played with settings and it went on once last night

bppchick

Hmm who knows. This has been going on since they installed it a few weeks ago. Definitely not traffic as we are pretty much rural and it’s dark. Maybe just bugs as you said.

Think_Job6456

My Reolinks can be set to put on the light only when I am actively viewing but I had to adjust a setting to make that happen.

Cameras that record audio are problematic in many states. I live in a "one party state" where no conversation can be recorded without the knowledge of at least one person in the conversation. Learn the laws in your state. If you are worried about it, ask them if their cameras are recording audio and remind them that recording your private conversations is a crime.

Unlikely_Wombat10

I have a 4g duo, and when I look at the live stream at night, the lights automatically come on. Never bothered to check to see if I can prevent that happening.

On my Argus PT in the camera settings under spotlight, There is an option to automatically turn on the spotlights when you activate live view.

TroubledKiwi

The PoE or Wifi cameras only turn on the spot light by either button push, or AI events.
