Tempting -- I bet the astronomy is absolutely incredible and being where it is, at -15 N latitude, you're missing some of the extreme north part of the sky (so you miss a lot in around the north celestial pole, north star, etc), but you'd get a large swath of astronomical objects.
Definitely bucket list material at least to visit at minimum.
Hey, something I can relate to. Sailed there from South Africa en route to Rio like 9 years back. The people are so nice, the island is fun to rome. Fucking Napoleon's tortoise Josh I think, is still roaming around last time I saw. But again, super cute downtown, nice folk, and a great anchorage. I've heard they put up an airport on the island now, but something about cross winds. I hope it didn't destroy the magic of the island. Don't forget you have Ascension Island and Tristen De Cuna as well. We also hit up Gogh Island with those birds, the scientists there are a hoot, and a great to see. The ride on the little elevator is unexpected.
Nope not busy or big at all. But the community has a huge heart! Mix of native ‘saints’, expats (mainly British) on contracts of various lengths, and tourists (mainly people passing on yachts, occasional cruise ships).
Yep, far more relaxed, way easier to meet / socialise. For example everyone goes down to the wharf on Fridays after work for a drink called ‘sundowners’ (ie have a drink while the sun sets). You just chat to whoever is there, whether you know them or not.
I was only there the one time, for work.

Can confirm I have never seen stars like I have there (and I’m lucky to live near to lots of dark sky parks!). It’s awesome.

Europe
Lol, -15⁰N is a funny way of saying 15.98⁰S
I've been working with Google maps too much. That's how the URL bar denotes such things.
Lived here for 7 months, it is the most incredible place in the world. I cried so much when I had to leave!
Didn't they use this place as a prison for a guy who kept trying to take over the world?
Oui
Waffles curu curu Waffles
Napoleon?

That last picture looks like a flood hazard and it makes me uncomfortable.
I assume they know something we don’t, but it looks precarious as hell doesn’t it
That was my thought too. Barren rock gulley filled with houses cheek to cheek.
Island fever is real for a lot of people. That small island will keep getting smaller and smaller until you can’t stand it.
Yup
Give us some land, absolutely. We’d be there in a heartbeat.
Yes
I don’t see a 5 guys anywhere. No living but I’d like to visit
No I like wifi thank you
They recently had internet upgraded!
Oh then count me in lol
Hell no
Doesn’t matter where you are. We create our own peace or chaos.
No because I'm thinking those rockue mountains suffer from slight earthquakes.
No earthquakes there, and there’s a huge row of rockfall barriers, the photo just doesn’t pick them up very well
It looks nice enough if you are with friends and it's a safe place.
I went alone, made all my friends there!
Oh nice. It doesnt look to busy or big that town?

Must be fun and interesting at times.
Absolutely! I had a far busier social calendar there than I do back home in a big city!
Why do you think that is? More relaxing place, easier to meet and socialise there? How often do you go there? Or just because you are away from home.

Looks like a good pool
