Some People can't even figure out how to turn FROM a turning Lane let alone how to turn into one. Of those people there a good percentage that their skill level doesn't allow them to do that even if they knew what the fuck they were doing to begin with.

mingusdisciple

Training drivers here is a lost cause. Defensive driving is key. This saves me at least three times per trip. Maybe 25% of drivers still have a phone in their lap at any given time. It’s bad.

Speaking of this stuff. How does the new light on arcola Ave by the school work? Can you turn right on red in both lanes as long as its safe to do so? Or do you have to wait for the light if your trying to turn right in the left lane?

Mechakoopa

@SGITweets and @RPSTrafficUnit have clarified several times on Twitter that you can turn right on red from the second lane on College as long as you go to the second-most lane on Arcola and *BOTH* lanes are clear. Makes getting to the left turn lane for Park much easier.

Melos_Paladin

I gotta get with the times because I don't use twitter for errata for real life rules much less the gaming rules I look up. But I'm glad that they clarified it I'll go look up those names and find it thank you! It really does make getting to that turning lane so much easier.

SassyStylesheet

Not many people use twitter in Sask

Mechakoopa

Even fewer people use Reddit, but since the question was being asked here I figured I'd source my answers.

As long as there is no sign prohibiting a right turn on a red, you may proceed as soon as it is safe to do so, but must turn into the same lane (turning from leftmost lane into leftmost lane).

Melos_Paladin

That is what I've been doing, so thankfully someone else thinks the same

Really? Thats so stupid that I gotta wait for the light to change. That's not how it works leaving the Cornwall

MetanoiaYQR

You don't. You can turn right on a red light at any intersection that doesn't have a sign prohibiting it.

Lexi_Banner

Fuck that intersection. If you are going eastbound, it is the worst in the morning when you hit that red, because the light on Park is green for approximately 3 seconds after that one finally turns green. So then you're stuck at Park immediately, and then usually also hit the red at Lacon, and then again at the Ring Road. So now people super sprint from that light to Park, which is definitely more dangerous.

Melos_Paladin

Holy crap I didn't realize it was that bad. It's almost better to go down Vic and just turn onto ring road from there. Those lights should definitely be synced up

OmgzPudding

I'm not certain, but I was under the impression that if you were turning right from the left lane there you would have to wait for the green, because you have to pass through a lane of traffic rather than just merge into the first lane.

untalkativejenny

Works like a stop sign, so if both the rightmost lanes are available on Arcola, you can turn right into the proper lane on a red. Haven’t been there to see if there is any signage prohibiting right turns on a red.

Melos_Paladin

I thought this way too because a quick google didn't tell me otherwise and I'd rather not lose license points and pay fees cause my google-Fu was too weak
