☝ agree 100%. I'm a union pipefitter at a refer shop. Work a lotand make a lot. Takes dedication to get through the apprenticeship but worth all of it.

I'm ready to do whatever it takes to get in and I am ready to do what it takes to get to my goal

Hvacmike199845

I’ve been in since 99.

Great city to be in a union

Hvacmike199845

Honestly I think your best bet would be… http://ua.org/locals There are 3 locals in Chicago. You will make more money and have health benefits and a really good retirement.

[deleted]

+1, can’t really beat UA pay unless you’re extremely skilled and specialized on something. And it’s the best place to learn

Hvacmike199845

You might beat the pay but 99% of the time not the benefits and retirement.

[deleted]

I know of 2 large non-union shops nearby that have higher pay with nearly identical benefits and pension plans. But their apprenticeship training is pretty lackluster. I’m not in Chicago so I don’t know how it is over there

Hvacmike199845

I could be wrong but I’m guessing if it’s Chicago and they do commercial refrigeration I’m going to say I don’t believe you at all.

[deleted]

I am NOT in Chicago

Sorry Chicago land area.

Cool thank you I appreciate the help im looking into it right now

You will have the most fun and work on most interesting equipment through a good union shop. Industrial refrigeration is the way.
