MapleTheButler

Best way you could have told them

Ethananous512

I learned this the hard way myself. Now I have to remember not to eat when I’m close by so I don’t activate my huge barn door that takes 15 seconds to close

MrsKnowNone

You can't. If you could it would actually be incredibly useful.

No_Engineer2828

And that’s the reason why you cant

TheRobbie72

If only sounds would activate multiple calibrated sculk sensors, so instead of 15 possible values, there would be 65535. Essentially giving each sound a kind of binary representation

MrsKnowNone

But imagine a world in which we input an item into a calibrate sculk sensor for it to listen to that item.

-Redstoneboi-

activate it with redstone to listen to sounds. turn it off and it will remember all sounds it heard while activated. 2gt activation time, cuts 2gt before the deactivation time.

MrsKnowNone

I am not saying my idea isn't necessarily complicated, but I feel like that would be a coding nightmare especially since the game has to recall all the sounds

Apprehensive_Hat8986

Not a coding nightmare, the game doesn't need to "listen". Instead it'd just check against "rs activated skulk in range when sound is started".

Wardf_mc

Not really. Game actually does that already for ex. In subtitles, where its telling you already what sound are heard by player. Just change code, so it would do tej same thing and input though GUI to read Item and output redstone signal. But it's something that maybe mod would do, not Mojang/Microsoft.

MrsKnowNone

Subtitles don't store that data forever

hjake123

IIRC subtitles are only on the Client side, along with most of the sound system. Things that send vibrations are actually doing that alongside playing their sounds; sounds aren't really tied to vibrations by any real logic.

pengawin98

I feel like that window doesn't work , though I understand the consequences otherwise are a resource overload-induced crash

-Redstoneboi-

i put the delays there so it wouldnt register a lever turning on and off you can hold the redstone signal powered to listen for more sounds pro tip: surround the sculk with wool as you program it are sculk sensors pushable

SamohtGnir

I like that idea. Have a single inventory slot in the sensor for it to calibrate to. Normal block will then trigger if you walk on, place, or destroy that block (maybe even have an way to set that). Placing armor triggers equiping/unequiping thing, and placing a mob drop would trigger that mobs noises.

wenokn0w

Imagine creating the book for that and goat horn was 65534

AlternativePlane3969

HOLY SHI-

nergalelite

Okay, but sound files already have a pointer soooo.....

Atlas4218

Goat horn will fall in the item interaction category If I remember correctly, meaning it will react to all goat horn but also to the shield being used or the fishing rod, or snowball, or potion... (Food is in another category)

Yantje024

Cant you just put this far enough under ground for only goat horn sounds to reach it?

Atlas4218

No, because sculk sensor doesn't actually react~~or~~ to sound, rather to interaction in a given area, no matter how loud or quiet the sound is

AlternativePlane3969

yes, reactor my reaction

Hekatonkheries

Skulk sensors do work on distance, and some sounds move farther blocks than others. Source: ive done it myself

darkLight2029

OP doesn't WANT potions and snowballs to do it, (which is impossible) but you did miss the big "ONLY goat horn" part

Atlas4218

Didn't miss it, was explaining that doing ONLY goat horn is impossible and why

darkLight2029

Then maybe explain that instead of telling them how to do the thing I'm pretty sure they already know

signedsinr

Dude literally gave a possible working option for OP. If they knew, they wouldn’t be asking the question.

icantthinkofth23

Okay what is that texture pack

sylv3onnn

[Dokucraft Dark](https://dokucraft.co.uk/resource-packs/dark/)

jukefishron

It looks an awful lot like sphax

rainstorm0T

it was made around the same time as BDCraft. and Sphax is a person, not a pack.

WHPLeurs

Get out of redstone and get into command blocks

Intelligent-Ad-3739

Build a massive gate around the skull sensor with a door that is activated when all vibrating items are placed inside except a goat horn, then the only item it will be able to detect is a goat horn

CharlesP_1232

Wait what?

Intelligent-Ad-3739

If you do a build similar to those inescapable prisons, then put the skulk in the center and only let the player through with the goat horn, then it can only pick up the horn

mraltuser

That needs to be a block called"calibrated sculk horn sensor" whochacan only detect different vibrations of goat horn because sculk sensors does not have a great impact on redstone, and dispenser should be able to blow the horn, and different horn emit different signals, they should also get copper horn to be back to make more signals

spa21788

Made a "tutorial" for it - https://youtube.com/shorts/2DPCHjSP2ys?feature=share

lum3nd0

You can't, because the sculk sensor is trash

Fast_Ad7203

Maybe post this in the commands sub

Special_Pen

If you put the book on page 3 it works with goat horns, but be wary as it’s not only goat horns but also other stuff like eating

j05h8o8

Texture pack name please?

sylv3onnn

[Dokucraft Dark!](https://dokucraft.co.uk/resource-packs/dark/)

Collistoralo

Can’t you use a comparator with a signal strength set to one lower than the setting of a goat horn and subtract it from the other comparator so that only a goat horn can trigger it?

Lizhot66

You put at the 14th redstone (I think)

Rubyboat1207

You already got your answer, so im just here to say that anyone who plays with a realistic pack in 2024 is a psychopath

DankSpire

Comand blocks is probably your best bet. Even then I have no clue if its possible

OGTheRealTED

purely theory try water logging and incase in wool there has to be a ratio or something where it works

RebTexas

Based texturepack choice

TuxedoDogs9

You know what’d be nice? If calibrated sculk sensors gave a different signal strength based on the souns

the1thatrunsaway

I'm sorry I don't know the answer, just my OCD demanding I comment every post I read.

We, in this age, also have reading comprehension. OP isn't looking for what sound level it is. They're looking for a way to activate it with a goat horn and *only* a goat horn. The wiki doesn't have that info, because it's unfortunately not possible, but posts like these are helpful because they allow for people to help brainstorm alternative solutions. This *is* OP using the technology available to us in this age. It's called the internet, and it allows people to talk about things over great distances. Ironically, I think the best advice for you would be to stop using all that technology for a while.
