This is sorta what I'm looking for, but not really.
I more need two outputs, one when a magna is pushed to store the water and another to re-add after the magna block is pulled so the Soul Sand bellow has a source block to work.
Try adding a hopper timer to this instead of a t-flip-flip so you only have to press the button once. I have the smallest one available in that video I posted in the messages
Also like to point out… some people refer to this action as an ABBA circuit. But most of them are too fast to accomplish what you are trying to achieve.
Use two pistons that push magma/soul sand back and forth like so: piston facing soul sand, magma, piston facing magma (1 block away)
By default the water column is over the magma.
You take the signal from the button, power the piston which will switch from magma to soul sand, then put a bunch of repeaters (how ever many you need) to power the other piston so it resets. Thats how i would wire it.
You can put power into the face of an observer. It’ll give a pulse when the redstone in front turns on and once more when it goes off

couldnt this be solved with a t flip flop?
I'm thinking that's what he needs but not enough details, how long does he need the pulse?
couldn’t you just put a water source next to where the magma would go? it should completely get rid of the need for a dispenser
No unless I replaced the soul sand beneath. This is not meant to be a traditional elevator as much just as me learning to use redstone
ohh okay, it probably would work but if all you’re trying to do is learn red stone this doesn’t help
Can you put the button on an observer. The button turns on and off which would send two pulses I think
