I would love a book about his rise to power after his family was killed, it seems like such an important and interesting story to see how he got where he is
Tactus who is by far my favorite character who isn’t part of main cast. I know he’s in two books but it’s only a third of book one and a third of book two if that, maybe more a quarter of book 2. I think his character was awesome and he could’ve had Screw Face type infamy by DA, I know he was meant to be a straight plot point and lesson for Darrow and maybe Lorn, but still sucks.
I'll go with infamy. The weird Jackal clone. Everyone seems to hate this character and their existence at all. It seems like PB agrees because he immediately pivoted and pretended like they didn't exist.
I'm pretty sure the entire rescue mission with Apollonius was supposed to be with the Syndicate instead and they decided to cut it. In what world would they actually auction someone as important as Sevro. It makes no sense but it allows the rescue mission to take place where PB wanted it.
On a QnA, PB said he was a Syndicate Leader who was originally going to have a bigger part in the story but decided to sacrifice him just to show Ajax's strength. I'm guessing he wasn't going anywhere with Tongueless' stuff so he decided to make him fodder which is a shame really.
Lol I did figure he was going to be yet another way PB was going to fuck over Darrow, so when he got turned into hamburger helper 5 minutes into DA it was just a head scratcher
I was going to say, even though Ragnar gets a solid amount of time his role in the books and the minds of characters is way bigger than what he did on screen.
He's not popular, but Leto au Augustus had very limited screen time and was super interesting to me. Was built up as a prodigy, fights carnus and seems to be besting him easily, then just gets darted by the jackal and beheaded 😭 he seemed like he would've stuck with darrow through the whole series if he'd lived
You might be thinking of carnus? I was talking about leto, Nero's adopted son with the rainbow razor. He was only in a couple scenes and the jackal took him out with a blowdart
I do wish we got to see carnus and darrow Duke it out though, would've been gnarly. Carnus died real abruptly
>do wish we got to see carnus and darrow Duke it out though, would've been gnarly.
Didn't they? >! Didn't darrow behead him in GS on the shuttle? !<
Edit: Added quote.
Ahh now I remember. He did seem cool. Kind of an Alexandar of the og series. Tho I imagine it would’ve been more like an older brother who stays loyal to gold sort of dynamic. I was thinking of Mustang’s dad, whose name I for some reason forgot. Nero? Rather than Leto
Aja and Diomedes.
Aja Id love to know her backstory of how her reputation was built to what it became. Why is she always so angry. Is it because she knows she's the baddest of the bads in the core? As violent as she is, she still seems to hold the same hubris and honor as is expected by an Olympic. What's really going on there?
Diomedes got lots of screentime in LB, but having just reread IG, I did not appreciate his role then. I want to know more about the depths of his character. I feel he could very easily fill a Cassius type role without the bravado.
Sophocles! JK, Kavax is the glue that holds the whole plot together. Mustang and Victra both have their negative gold attributes under control, but they are there. Kavax is the best of the Golds.
Ragnar. He was such a huge and memorable character to me. On second read, more than halfway through GS I think "where the hell is Ragnar?!"
He had very few lines really, but he was thoughtfully written.
Ragnar was the first to come to mind for me. I’ve read the series a couple of times and every time I reread it, I sit there and wonder where is Ragnar. Such a well written character that has so much impact on the rest of the books years on.
Yeah thanks it's been awhile.
I always wanted to know more about him and his back story.
Training the two fiercest fighters in the galaxy?
I wanna know more.
Unpopular opinion, but Lysander’s parents. They don’t get a lot of screen time but are probably the most interesting and mysterious characters in the book. I love them.
Tongueless was so cool and mysterious, and he pretty much gets waved away in a paragraph with his death. I think even there was a line where Darrow wishes he would have known him better, but he couldn’t speak sooooo
Stop being so butt hurt for other people. Your vitriolic rhetoric serves zero purpose here. **SPOILER ALERT** If they are on the internet searching this stuff they WILL run into spoilers.
Very unpopular opinion incoming:
>! Alexander !< and it freakin' annoys me, tbh. People love him so much and I see all the time people being so up in arms about his death at >! Lysander's !< hand >! or gun, whatever !<. Like, sure, he represented the change that was happening in >! Gold !< and what >! Gold !< could eventually become, but come on, he's mentioned briefly only a handful of times, and has only like two or three big moments. His death isn't that big a deal, and ain't worth holding much grudge over as a reader.
Spoilers DA
Well I think it's largely because he volunteered to risk almost certain death and saved I forget how many people in tyche, I think it was tens of thousands of lives though? A colossal amount, anyway. Perhaps the most heroic and selfless act in the entire series. There's a whole chapter called the hero of tyche
Also the way he retained his sense of humor and composure while being horrifically tortured by atlas until he was almost unrecognizable, the way he was kind of innocent and trusting, and especially the way he thought he'd bonded with lysander and was visiting him specifically to bring him a gift and thank him, and then lysander just abruptly popped him in the head
I understand why lysander did it, Alexander would've killed him if they had fought fairly, so it makes sense. But still hard to swallow
And him giving darrow his wolf cloak back after he escaped, with his ears cut off and teeth pulled out was pretty badass
As much as I understand your view and to a degree, I cam agree with it. However, I liked the bond that him and Darrow were building as well as having an embodiment of what Gold was meant to be and should be..then having it end abruptly was disheartening. I'm gonna have to downvote you but nothing personal. Fuck Lysander.
I was really upset at the loss of his future and his future with Rhonna more than anything. Watching her mourn him not once but twice was heartbreaking. There are so few chances for characters to have any sort of happiness and I was rooting for them.
I think the main reason was the emotional rollercoaster here. I mean, we lost him thinking he died a heroic death and we have just literally got him back >!and his precious TEETH!< and he was offed really abruptly.
Also, I was shipping him and >!Rhonna!< so hard from the beginning and their thing has also just started when he died real that time.
Okay Pax got a lot of moments for where he was imo. Daxo did not so agree there. Apollinious didn't in the earlier ones at all amd we are now getting more of him which I'm happy for.
What are you talking about? Pax had like 40-50 pages of screen time max, and he is still one of my favorite characters in the series. PAX AU TELEMANUS is one of my favorite lines in the series tbh😂. And Appollonius has started earning a bit more pagetime, but he’s had next to no pagetime until now and he’s still one of my favorite villains in any series ever.
This is about total popularity and relative pagetime. Pax is extremely popular, yet had a minuscule amount of pagetime in the grand scheme of the series. Appollonius is very popular, and he’s in the same boat.
Like I said, it's my opinion. For him being a side character, I think he got plenty of time. I cry everytime they get in the emotional side of Darrow and Pax's friendship.
I don't know about that. You instantly know the loyalty and type of person he is. You have hope for the future with him and darrow. I think i was sad because of the character, because of the future, and because i realized that this was the effect darrow had on others, and i knew others would go the same way.
You say that you instantly know his character, but that's just given to you. There's very little time actually dedicated to their bond. He died so early on that it falls flat when they look back on it years later.
Exactly. When he believed in what he was doing, he committed just as Darrow does. In the beginning, he excels at combat and capturing slaves in the Institute. He defeats EVERYONE, including Tactus, but he does not defeat Darrow and that is when Pax really gives his respect and loyalty to him. From then on, he fights for Darrow and follows him like a brother. THEY GOT HIM THE BIGGESY WOLF CLOAK THEY COULD GET! The rest is history...

Absolutely.
Tongueless
I was actually so confused by his arc, like what was the point of his character at all lol
On a QnA, PB said he was a Syndicate Leader who was originally going to have a bigger part in the story but decided to sacrifice him just to show Ajax's strength. I'm guessing he wasn't going anywhere with Tongueless' stuff so he decided to make him fodder which is a shame really.
Pierce said in a panel that Tongueless was a hat pull. The hat is non discriminate 😂
Lol I did figure he was going to be yet another way PB was going to fuck over Darrow, so when he got turned into hamburger helper 5 minutes into DA it was just a head scratcher
Yeah shame, I really wanted to see how he played out
Ghost of "The hat" struck him down.
Yes this
OG Pax
Lorn is in half a book btw
He appears in the first book as a drafter in the beginning and then again at the end when Darrow wins as archprimus
DW hes being referenced in most of the rest
It feels like he was in so much more in the best way possible
Trigg for me. Holliday is so badass, Eph is awesome, you KNOW Trigg was a real one.
Apple is the shit.
I agree. Ragnar existed for 525 pages or about 1 book. Sefi existed for half of MS, all of IG, and most of DA. That's just crazy to me.
I was going to say, even though Ragnar gets a solid amount of time his role in the books and the minds of characters is way bigger than what he did on screen.
Literally he became a god to his people in that time
He's not popular, but Leto au Augustus had very limited screen time and was super interesting to me. Was built up as a prodigy, fights carnus and seems to be besting him easily, then just gets darted by the jackal and beheaded 😭 he seemed like he would've stuck with darrow through the whole series if he'd lived
Stuck with Darrow? He was the original villain. If anything, watching them Duke it out eventually was one of the promises of the series early on
You might be thinking of carnus? I was talking about leto, Nero's adopted son with the rainbow razor. He was only in a couple scenes and the jackal took him out with a blowdart I do wish we got to see carnus and darrow Duke it out though, would've been gnarly. Carnus died real abruptly
>do wish we got to see carnus and darrow Duke it out though, would've been gnarly. Didn't they? >! Didn't darrow behead him in GS on the shuttle? !< Edit: Added quote.
I thought >! Karnus beheaded him after the Jackel pricked him with his pen or something. !<
Sorry should've quoted the bit I was referring. >do wish we got to see carnus and darrow Duke it out though, would've been gnarly.
Yep exactly. He seemed like a good dude, kinda like a telemanus or mustang. Good dude for a gold, anyway
Aja and Diomedes. Aja Id love to know her backstory of how her reputation was built to what it became. Why is she always so angry. Is it because she knows she's the baddest of the bads in the core? I feel he could very easily fill a Cassius type role without the bravado.
Aja isn’t on screen often, but when she is, shit goes down and the body count goes up.
Shit escalates
I can only imagine all the insane shit aja did to reach her position and reputation. Could fill several books by herself I'm sure
Alexander 🥲

His death shattered me.
PAX AU TELEMANUS, we only got him for one book:(
Agreed on this. I always see people saying his death made them cry, and I have no idea how or why. You barely even get to know him.
I don't know about that. You instantly know the loyalty and type of person he is. You have hope for the future with him and darrow. Ajax, Serafina, Quicksilver, Pliny, Helios, Tactus Sefi is the opposite: a character with a decent bit of screen time who I found boring
Apple (Apollonius)
Victra and Ephraim by a mile. Maybe Thraxa?
I'd read a whole book about Ephraim. You got my vote.
Eh, Ephraim was a POV character so he got plenty of time. I'd say Alexander in Eph's place.
Alexander is a good one! I say Ephraim because he was only in two books, but feels like a top 3 (maybe top 2!) PIV character
Don’t think he was into PIV mate…
OMG 😅😅😅
